"Minister of the Interior's Office , Fatima speaking." Answered the secretary .
There was a sudden change in her expression, from the usual calm façade , her beautiful face was now marred with anxiety and confusion.
She had flung herself from behind her desk barging into her superior's office without even knocking.
"Sir ! Commander Darius is on the line . He said it was urgent!"
Though the man was surprised by her sudden entrance he overlooked her error and answered the phone.
He was anxious to hear what was so important that she let her manners slip once again. It was not uncommon for her to barge in to deliver important news but such matters to him were always inconsequential.
"Darius" he answered.
Immediately the world seemed to slow for a second. Soldat eyes narrowed as the news was relayed to him.
"What?! Are you sure?" He barked jumping from his chair.
Darius, the man to whom he was speaking was currently the Commander of the special force's division, in tandem to also being the commander of the TS9 secret organization . The man had come into Soldat's service a 2 years ago . He was older of course by ten years to be specific and he had proven his competence and cunning while they both served in the military under Arif.
Darius was half Iranian and no matter his skills and keenness he was sidelined due to his heritage by many . Promotions were stalled for him a dozen times over the years up until the rise of Soldat.
Soldat had known of him during the year of 1958 but a that time he was private while Darius a corporal .During those times he had debated with the man on political , administrative and military matters and both had come to see eye to eye , eventually aligning with each other.
You see … Darius though often seemingly gaunt and lanky as if the wind itself could tip him over was unyielding. He was a man with a forgettable face and unassuming , but he was the most dangerous among the ISB senior Officers. If Soldat had an Idea , Darius spun his webs bringing it to fruition.
"They have dug the holes for themselves and we shall bury! Send word to Captain Idrak immediately! Tell him to ready the infantry at once and the militia! You know what else needs to be done." He finished as he hung up the phone.
This was code red , he needed to contact all his allies at once no doubt Darius have alerted the ones he were ordered to if a situation like this arouse , but he needed to inform Ahmed Hassan, Salah Omar Al-Ali , Ali Hakim Muhammad, Abdul Rezin, Ibrahim Daud the commander of the Republican Guard, Abd ar-Razzaq an-Naif, and a dozen other clergy men of his inner circle.
The news he had received was that of Ali Salih planning an attack to sweep aside he and Arif along with his other political rivals later today . The man had thought to catch him at surprise by moving his ill trained militia in key positions as fast as possible for takeover. Though the traitor had a surprise coming. Soldat had foreseen and planned for this outcome, he had planned for months. He knew salih became unstable more and more as days went by and he knew that he would play his hand to grasp power in the near future ,and that day had come.

Iraq was a center of innovation in antiquity, producing early written languages, literary works, and significant advancements in astronomy, mathematics, law, and philosophy. This era of indigenous rule ended in 539 BC when the Neo-Babylonian Empire was conquered by the Achaemenid Empire under Cyrus the Great, who declared himself the "King of Babylon." The city of Babylon, the ancient seat of Babylonian power, became one of the key capitals of the Achaemenid Empire.
In the following centuries, the regions constituting modern Iraq came under the control of several empires, including the Greeks, Parthians, and Romans, establishing new centers like Seleucia and Ctesiphon. By the 3rd century AD, the region fell under Persian control through the Sasanian Empire, during which time Arab tribes from South Arabia migrated into Lower Mesopotamia, leading to the formation of the Sassanid-aligned Lakhmid kingdom. The Arabic name al-ʿIrāq likely originated during this period. The Sasanian Empire was eventually conquered by the Rashidun Caliphate in the 7th century, bringing Iraq under Islamic rule after the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah in 636. The city of Kufa, founded shortly thereafter, became a central hub for the Rashidun dynasty until their overthrow by the Umayyads in 661.
With the rise of the Abbasid Caliphate in the mid-8th century, Iraq became the center of Islamic rule, with Baghdad, founded in 762, serving as the capital. Baghdad flourished during the Islamic Golden Age, becoming a global center for culture, science, and intellectualism. However, the city's prosperity declined following the Buwayhid and Seljuq invasions in the 10th century and suffered further with the Mongol invasion of 1258. Iraq later came under the control of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century, remaining under Ottoman rule until the end of World War I, after which Mandatory Iraq was established by the British Empire.
