Ten years since they'd reunited.
Kai planned something special—a weekend away, just the two of them, while Mia watched the children. They returned to Riverside High, to the music room where everything began.
"You did this on purpose," Lina said, stepping inside.
"Every anniversary. It's our place."
The room looked almost the same—the same piano, the same windows, the same bench where they'd sat together so many times.
Kai played their song.
Lina listened, tears streaming, transported back to that first time she'd heard it—the boy in the music room, the melody that captured her heart.
When he finished, she kissed him.
"Ten years," she whispered. "We've been together ten years."
"Married for nine. Two kids. A life." He smiled. "Not bad for a couple of kids who fell in love at seventeen."
"Not bad at all."
That night, they talked about the future.
Hope was eight now, Noah six. School, activities, friendships—their lives were full of children's schedules and demands.
"What's next for us?" Lina asked. "After the kids are grown?"
Kai considered. "Travel, maybe. All the places we haven't seen. More music for you. More books for me." He smiled. "Growing old together."
"I like that plan."
"Me too."
