Chapter 10 - MEETING AT OLD BASE

The 5-star training base stretched across the mountains, a fortress of steel, glass, and cutting-edge technology. It hummed with energy—the kind of energy reserved for warriors who didn't just survive—they dominated. The polished floors reflected the afternoon sun, the walls lined with targets, obstacle courses, and holographic combat systems.

All three groups had gathered. The Havoc, The Apex, and The Shadow Council. Twelve warriors in total, each powerful, trained, and dangerous in their own way. And me—Jay—the reason they were all here.

Tension was thick, but beneath it, a silent understanding lingered. Coordination had always been our strength… even if bickering came naturally.

I stepped forward, hands on my hips, scanning the teams. "Listen," I said, voice steady, "there's a reason we're all here. Yuri shot Keifer. My boyfriend. I shielded him—he would have died if I hadn't stepped in. And now, we need to prepare. Kaizer Watson is working with Yuri, and they're dangerous. Today is about training and planning, not revenge yet."

Thyme blinked. "Wait… Yuri shot Keifer? And you saved him?"

"Exactly," I nodded. "He's alive because of me. But Kaizer is smart, and Yuri is ruthless. I can't take them on alone, and neither can any one of you. That's why we're here—to train, coordinate, and make sure when the time comes, we're unstoppable."

Rylan folded his arms. "So we meet them first, then…"

"Yes," I said. "We plan. Then we strike. But not today."

Kael stepped from the shadows, expression unreadable. "Good. Planning is everything. Rushing in is how people die."

The teams exchanged glances, a mixture of respect, rivalry, and barely contained egos. Despite their differences—wealth, power, or skill—they all knew one truth: I was the center of this mission, and they'd follow my lead if necessary.

I raised a hand. "Alright, training first. Hand-to-hand combat. Guns. Agility. Coordination. And yes… sparring with me at the end."

The teams groaned collectively.

"Bring it on," Thyme muttered, fists clenching.

The first round began. Hand-to-hand combat. Thyme charged, fists flying. I dodged, rolled, and countered, pushing him lightly to the ground—but careful not to hurt him. MJ fired simulated energy blasts from across the room, forcing me to weave and dodge mid-air, my strikes precise and lethal in simulation but controlled for training.

Rylan and Zephyr attempted a coordinated aerial attack, jumping from platforms above. I twisted midair, deflecting Zephyr's strikes and sending Rylan sprawling into a padded wall. Eira and Kael attempted to corner me from the shadows. I anticipated their positions, moved swiftly, and knocked them into each other.

Next came gun practice. Pistols, rifles, and assault weapons appeared, drones firing laser targets across the arena.

"Hit the targets in under five seconds," I commanded, drawing a pistol.

The teams moved instantly. Thyme and Kavin led the front lines, MJ and Rylan covering flanks, Zephyr and Nova handling overhead drones. Eira, Kael, and Silas moved unseen, targeting me from angles designed to trap me.

I didn't flinch.

Time slowed. Every dodge, every shot, every roll was precise. I disarmed Zephyr midair, neutralized drones before they could attack, and in seconds, had each member of the three groups pinned or off-balance.

The bickering never stopped.

"You're too fast, Jay!" Thyme shouted, rolling back to avoid my strike.

"I told you, amateurs!" Eira called from above, her voice dripping with superiority.

Rylan muttered, brushing himself off. "This isn't over."

The next stage was team coordination drills. Obstacles rose from the floor—moving platforms, swinging blades, laser grids. Each group tried to navigate, cover, and protect me simultaneously. Thyme and Kavin formed a frontline barrier, MJ hacked the holographic drones to aid us, while Rylan, Zephyr, and Nova provided aerial reconnaissance.

Eira whispered from the shadows, "They think they're controlling the field. But they're just playing into her hands."

Kael nodded, impressed despite himself. "She moves like a storm. Predictable only if you think she's predictable."

I chuckled to myself. Every move I made, every dodge and counter, highlighted the gaps in their coordination—and yet, when it mattered, we flowed like a single entity. Even the bickering couldn't break that.

Then came the ultimate challenge. I turned toward them all, voice low and steady. "Alright… now, let's see what happens if you all rush me at once."

The twelve warriors charged—Thyme, Kavin, MJ, Gorya, Kanning, Aum, Rylan, Zephyr, Nova, Eira, Kael, and Silas. Fists, blades, rifles, and gadgets all aimed at me from every angle.

I didn't flinch.

Time slowed. I ducked Thyme's punch, rolled under Kavin's kick, and countered both simultaneously. Rylan's bullets whizzed past—I dodged, spun midair, and sent Zephyr sprawling. Eira struck from above—but I caught her wrist midair and sent her crashing into Kael, who lunged from the shadows.

Gorya, Kanning, and Aum tried to corner me together. I swept them off their feet, landing perfectly on my feet. MJ lunged with a drone-assisted strike, but I destroyed it midair and sent him flying.

One by one, every member of The Havoc, The Apex, and The Shadow Council fell. Not seriously injured—they were all highly trained—but clearly defeated.

The room fell silent. Smoke from drones hung in the air. Everyone was panting, wide-eyed, and staring at me.

I crossed my arms, smirking. "That's what happens when you all rush me at once."

Thyme groaned. "I… I underestimated you."

Rylan muttered, brushing himself off. "Unbelievable…"

Eira finally nodded, calm but impressed. "You… are in a league of your own."

Kael, usually stoic, gave a rare smile. "Impressive. You survived everyone at once… and thrived."

I laughed softly. "Now that you all know—never underestimate me."

We collapsed onto the mats, exhausted but exhilarated. The bickering returned almost immediately. Thyme elbowed Rylan. "I saved her first!"

Rylan rolled his eyes. "You mean after I cleared a street full of mercenaries?"

Eira smirked from above. "Both amateurs. I ensured none of you even got close."

I chuckled. "You all are ridiculous. But at least you're focused… eventually."

I looked around at the groups, at the sweat, the bruises, the wide eyes. "Tomorrow, we plan Kaizer and Yuri. Today… we trained. Guns, fists, drones, traps… everyone learned something."

They nodded, panting, exhausted, and begrudgingly respectful. Even with constant bickering, one thing was clear: together, we were unstoppable.

And when the time came to confront Yuri and Kaizer Watson… we would be ready.

Because alone or together, I was the force none of them could match.
