Chapter 3 - Between Real and Unreal

Alec wakes up in his apartment and jumps out of the bed in shock. He stands up and looks around the room finally beginning to feel at ease.

He sees the book and opens it up only to see that the entire page except the first beginning page is blank.

He starts reading it and throws the book away as he reads exactly what he had just experienced. What could this really mean, he starts to feel afraid again.

He walked to where the book landed on the floor and picks it up to and opens it up to the last written line and it stops exactly where captain Zayne was leading Aerion to the van.

Now he gets really terrified

"What is going on with me?" Alec said out loud to himself, "Am I losing my mind and imagining things?

"There is definitely something wrong with this book, all this started after I got the book.

He picked the book up and threw it in the trash can, he picked up his phone to check the time and saw that he was late for work and forgetting all about the book he quickly hurried to prepare for work.

On his way out to work, he carries the bin bag and takes it downstair to the major refuse dumb, "what ever is he deal with that book I definitely do not want to have anything to do with it"

He got to work and already his team manager was already there, he knew he was very late and prepared himself to be scolded again. After his team manager finished scolding him and he went back to sit down on his desk. He was used to it by now.

He eventually settled in and started working, calling up his editors and started setting up appointments, then something told him to look up the book online to see if there are any other persons online that had read the book and experienced what he did.

He typed the name on the search but nothing came up even the book seamed non existent at this point. Everything was now looking very scary to him.

"How did the book come about if there is nothing about it online" Alec thought to himself, "Well I am just glad I have gotten rid of it" He said to himself.

He called the attention of his team member Isaac to ask him if he has read any book called the outsourced Hero

"I have never heard of it, was it recently released?" Isaac asked him excited

Isaac was an avid reader and if anyone knew of any latest releases it had to be him but he had not heard of the book.

"What book is that?" Benita asked interested

"Oh it is a book I bought on my way home yesterday and I had a really weird dream afterwards"

"Really?" Isaac asked excitedly, "Can you lend it to me"

"I threw it away"

"You threw what away" Isaac and Benita both asked in Unison

"It can't be that bad , how bad was the nightmare?" Benita asked

"It felt so real, like I was experiencing another world"

"Really?"

"Yeah, and apparently I had a whole wife and kid"

"Tell me the name of the book again let me check online Isaac asked

"Don't bother, I checked and it was not online"

"Now that is strange" Benita added

Work went really well that day as he gathered his stuff to leave, all but one author he was managing had sent their work for submission and he was tired of waiting, he picked up his laptop to leave making a mental note to check on the author and make sure the work is submitted before he sleeps that night and then something caught his eye on his desk.

It was the novel

He stared at it for a long time not wanting to touch it

"Well I will be damned he said to himself as he picked up the novel to inspect it and be sure it was actually the same novel and it was.

"How did this get here?"

He looked around and he was the only one in the building, he was sure the others knew nothing about the book but even if they found it they would have spoken to him about it.

"What kind of a useless prank is this?"

"I am very sure I did not bring it to work, I discarded it"

He open the book to check if there were any missing chapters and as soon as he opened it everywhere started to shake, he tried to throw the book away but the book could not leave his hand

Fear began to grip him, he was not tired or exhausted and he definitely was not half asleep so this was really happening, this was really real and he started panicking.

As the room began to shake it was accompanied by large thunder storm and before he knew what was happening, a bright light enveloped him, the room turned upside down and everywhere went still.

When he opened his eyes again, he was standing in what felt like an orientation ground for soldiers. He looked around him

"I'll be damned!" This was 100 percent no longer a dream, this was really happening to him, he was really getting teleported into another world.
