Cherreads

Chapter 6 - meeting everyone

Morning sunshine streamed through the windows as Nathaniel burst into Adrien's room, wearing a ridiculously loud Hawaiian shirt. "RISE AND SHINE, BUDDY! Ready for your first day as a champ?"

Adrien rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "Ready."

As they headed downstairs, Gray greeted them with a cheerful "Hey, morning you two! Breakfast's ready... and by breakfast, I mean a heart attack waiting to happen!"

Adrien's stomach growled in anticipation. "Thanks, Gray! I'll try not to die from your cooking."

Sachika sat next to Liam, who was blushing furiously. Gray boasted, "I made it myself... with a little help from Katie, who only gave me the name of the dish... and also told me not to poison anyone."

Katie playfully glared at him. "Hey, I helped more than that! I also tasted it and lived to tell the tale."

Just then, Raya strode into the room, her expression stern. "Shut up, brats. I'm late... I have an important mission..."

Adrien's eyes lit up. "Can I come with?"

Raya's expression turned glacial. "No!! And don't even think about following me, or I'll turn you into a human-sized coal."

As Raya stormed out, Gray whispered to Adrien, "Don't worry about the captain... she's like that to the rest of us. You just have to get used to her... and also invest in a good therapist."

Adrien chuckled. "I see... why isn't she bringing anyone to her mission?"

Nathaniel snickered. "Well, by 'mission,' she means her solo spa day... where she'll be pampering herself with face masks, manicures, and an endless supply of chocolate cake."

Adrien laughed. "Ohh... and where's Logan?"

Nathaniel shrugged. "That one's a sleepyhead... he won't be waking up now... or possibly ever."

Adrien's curiosity was piqued. "Why?"

Nathaniel deadpanned, "Nobody knows... I think it's just normal... for him to be a zombie."

Adrien laughed. "Ohhkayy."

Nathaniel grinned. "How about we tour around the kingdom since we've got nothing to do, huh, Adrien?"

Adrien's face lit up. "I'd like that!"

Nathaniel asked, "Wanna come with, Sachika?"

Sachika declined, "No thanks... I have training to do... and also a social life to maintain... unlike some people "

As Sachika left, Katie exclaimed, "Hey, wait! Let's go see my bug collection... and also my pet tarantula, Mr. Fluffers!"

Katie chased after Sachika , leaving the others in stitches.

Nathaniel asked, "What about you guys? Liam, you in?"

Liam shook his head. "I have chores to do, sorry... and also a strong desire to avoid Gray's cooking."

Gray playfully glared at him. "Hey, my cooking's not that bad!"

Nathaniel chuckled. "Oh, really? Then why did the fire alarm go off three times during breakfast?"

Gray shrugged. "Minor setbacks... and also a small kitchen fire... but it's all part of the charm, right?"

Adrien asked, "Don't you guys have chores too?"

Gray grinned mischievously. "We do... we'll do them in the last minute before the Captain returns."

Nathaniel chuckled. "Yeah, it's a Spade tradition – procrastination is our superpower."

Adrien raised an eyebrow. "And me?"

Nathaniel clapped him on the back. "Bud, why you trying to be so nice? Chillax, we've got this."

Gray nodded in agreement. "And yeah, I did see Captain Raya preparing your chore list... it doesn't look good, trust me."

Nathaniel asked, "So, where do we tour first?"

Adrien suggested, "The capital, I guess..."

Nathaniel nodded. "Sure, but we're not going close to that building."

Adrien's curiosity was piqued. "Why not?"

Nathaniel whispered, "It's the royal house... we don't want to risk getting caught and having to attend a royal tea party."

Gray shuddered. "Ugh, the horror! We'd have to wear fancy clothes and make small talk with the royals."

Adrien laughed. "I think I can handle it."

Nathaniel grinned. "We'll see about that, buddy."

——

As the boys continued their tour of the castle, they stumbled upon Ella and Eira in the hallway. Gray flashed his charming smile. "Oh, hello ladies! We were just admiring the castle's... um, architecture."

Ella rolled her eyes. "Save it, Gray. Hi, Adrien! It's nice to see you again."

Gray's eyes widened in surprise. "You guys know each other? Did you have a secret love child or something?"

Adrien chuckled. "No, we just met before."

Ella playfully glared at him. "Shut up, Adrien. I'm a detective-in-training, and you're my idol."

Nathaniel teased, "Aww, Ella's got a crush on Adrien!"

Ella blushed. "Shut up, Nathaniel!"

Meanwhile, Eira couldn't take her eyes off Adrien's face. She thought to herself, "Oh my, he's so handsome... how is he not a prince?.. I wanna marry him!" As she blushed furiously.

Adrien smiled at her. "Hey Eira, you're looking a little... flushed."

Eira stuttered, "I... (red face) I just...."

Gray chimed in, "Don't worry, Eira, I won't tell anyone you're secretly in love with Adrien."

Ella playfully hit Gray on the arm. "Shut up, Gray! Don't embarrass my sister!she's not in love !"

Micah Galanis appeared out of nowhere, his eyes scanning the group. "What's going on here?"

Ella's smile faltered for a moment before she recovered. "Oh, hi!."

Adrien's eyes widened in surprise. "Who's this?"

Ella's voice was a little too bright. "Oh, this is Micah... my fiancé!"

Adrien's face lit up with a warm smile. "Oh, nice to meet you, Micah!"

Micah's expression was... less than enthusiastic. "Hm, right. Ella, can we go have that dinner?"

Ella's smile was a little too forced. "Oh, okay... see you later, guys."

As Micah and Ella walked away, Eira's face turned bright red. "Ummm, well... I'm leaving too!" She quickly rushed off, leaving the others staring after her.

Gray called out, "Bye, Eira!"

As Eira disappeared around the corner, Cassandra emerged from the shadows, a calculating glint in her eye. She watched the group with interest, her mind whirling with possibilities...

Cassandra's eyes landed on Adrien, and a small smile played on her lips. "It's him, Adrien... I'd better go say hello," she thought to herself.

Just as she was about to approach Adrien, Christopher grasped her wrist, holding her back. "Where do you think you're going?" he asked, his voice low and even.

Cassandra spun around, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Chris, you startled me. What are you doing here?"

Christopher's expression was unyielding. "Keeping an eye on you, Cassandra. Making sure you don't get into trouble."

Cassandra's smile was wry. "I can take care of myself, Chris. I don't need a babysitter."

Christopher's grip on her wrist tightened. "I saw what you were about to do, Cassandra. You were going to approach those commoners."

Cassandra's eyes flashed with annoyance. "I was just going to say hello, Chris."

Christopher's voice was skeptical. "Save it, Cassandra. You know as well as I do that those people are beneath you. You're the future queen of this kingdom. You need to start acting like it."

Cassandra's expression turned icy. "I'll act however I please, Chris. And I'll talk to whoever I want. You can't control me."

Christopher sighed, his eyes pleading. "Cassandra, please. Just think about your reputation. Think about the kingdom."

Cassandra's smile was cold. "I am thinking about the kingdom, Chris. And I'm thinking about what's best for it. Not what's best for you, or for our parents, but what's best for the kingdom itself."

With that, Cassandra pulled her wrist free and walked away, leaving Christopher looking concerned and frustrated.

Meanwhile, in the Heart House, Lily's eyes widened in surprise as she stared at the snake coiled around Melody's arm. "Is that a real snake?!"

Melody smiled, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "Beautiful, isn't it?"

Lily nodded cautiously. "Kind of scary."

Melody chuckled. "Her name is Harmony."

Lily's curiosity got the better of her. "Is she your pet?"

Melody shook her head. "No, she's my spirit animal."

Lily's eyes widened in awe. "Wow, you have a spirit animal too? That's so cool!"

Melody smiled, gently placing the snake in Lily's hand. "Let's go have some tea."

As they walked, Lily asked, "So, Captain?"

Melody turned to her, a hint of a smile on her face. "Call me Mel."

Lily's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Oh, Mel, why did you choose me?"

Melody's expression turned serious. "Well, I like your magic. Cats are majestic and adorable creatures that deserve our respect and admiration."

Lily nodded, intrigued. "I see."

Melody smiled. "Yeah... I think you have a lot of potential, Lily."

Lily's curiosity got the better of her again. "Can you tell me how you became a captain?"

Melody's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Sure... I—"

Just then, Melody's magic communication device rang. "Hello?... Photoshoot?... with my new subordinate?... sure... we'll be there... bye."

Lily looked at Melody curiously. "Errands?"

Melody nodded. "Yes... a friend of mine wants to meet you... and I forgot about our photoshoot. Let's go."

Lily's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Is it far?"

Melody smiled. "No, it's just a short walk."

In the Jacks house, Kade was pushing himself to the limit, doing pushups under the watchful eye of his Captain, Benjamin.

Kade grunted, his arms trembling as he finished his 500th pushup. "I'm so tired, Captain... can we take a break?"

Benjamin's expression was unyielding. "You think you're tired, Kade? You haven't even broken a sweat yet."

Kade's face contorted in exhaustion. "But a little break will help, Captain. Just five minutes?"

Benjamin shook his head. "No breaks. We're just getting started. Let's do 500 more, and then we'll take a break."

Kade's eyes widened in horror. "500 more? And that's it, right?"

Benjamin's smile was merciless. "Oh no, kid. We're not even close to being done. We'll do at least another 500 after the break."

Kade's face fell. "I'm going to die, Captain."

Benjamin's expression turned serious. "If you want to be strong like me, you have to train harder than me, surpass me. Nothing good comes easy, kid. Think of your goal while exercising."

Kade took a deep breath, his determination renewed. "Yeah, you're right, Captain. Let's go!"

With newfound energy, Kade started doing the pushups faster, his movements swift and precise.

But his enthusiasm was short-lived. As he landed awkwardly on his ankle, Kade winced in pain. "Ouch... I think I strained an ankle, Captain."

The boys strolled through the bustling town, taking in the sights and sounds. Nathaniel gazed around, his eyes wide with excitement. "There's so much to do here!"

Gray clapped him on the back. "What's your pleasure, bud? Want to explore the shops or try some games?"

Adrien's eyes glazed over, lost in thought. A soft smile spread across his face. "Get ice cream?"

Nathaniel and Gray stared at him, incredulous. "Man, what?!" Nathaniel exclaimed.

Gray chuckled. "Let's go get that ice cream, then!"

The boys trooped off to the ice cream parlor, eager to indulge in a sweet treat. As they licked their cones, Nathaniel and Gray wolfed theirs down, earning themselves brain freeze. Adrien, on the other hand, savored his ice cream, eating it gently and deliberately.

Nathaniel rubbed his temples, wincing. "Okay, that was a bad idea. Let's go have some real fun!"

The boys spent the rest of the day exploring the town, buying quirky trinkets, playing games, and sampling local drinks.

..

Meanwhile, at the Clover Mansion, Lily and Mel strolled through the lush gardens, surrounded by vibrant flowers and fluttering butterflies. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flora, and the soft chirping of birds.

As they walked, Lily's eyes widened in awe. "Wow, this place is breathtaking, Mel."

Melody smiled, her eyes sparkling with pride. "Welcome to HouseClover."

Their host, Vanessa, greeted them warmly. "Welcome, Mel. The Captain is waiting for you."

As they followed Vanessa through the mansion, they arrived at the Captain's gallery. The room was abuzz with photographers, cameras, assistants, and lights.

Lily's eyes grew wide with wonder. "Oh wow, just when I thought I'd seen enough of this place's beauty."

Vanessa smiled mischievously. "Wait until you see our Captain. She's the true gem of the house ."

The photoshoot was in full swing, featuring Elysia's most stunning model and Captain, Mei Qian.

Mei was directing her subordinate, Chloe Rose, with precision and poise.

Vanessa announced their arrival, "They're here, Captain!"

Mei turned to greet Melody, exchanging air kisses on each cheek. "Oh, hi Mel!"

Melody smiled, "Are we late?"

Mei reassured her, "Not at all. Chloe was still on the shoot."

Melody gestured to Lily, "I'd like to introduce you to my new subordinate, Lily."

Mei extended her hand, and Lily shook it firmly. "Hi, I'm Mei, the Captain of the Clover squad."

Lily smiled, "Hey, nice to meet you, Captain Mei."

Chloe interrupted, "I'm done, Captain!"

Mei nodded, "Oh, I guess it's our turn, Mel. We better go dress up. You two make Lily feel at home."

Vanessa ushered Lily to a seating area, "Yes, Captain. Come on, Lily."

As they sat down, Chloe asked, "So, have any friends?"

Lily replied, "Yeah, two boys. They're more like my foster brothers, since we were in the same orphanage and raised by the same woman."

Vanessa's eyes sparkled, "Boys? No way! Let's be friends, just us girls."

Chloe chimed in, "Yeah!"

Lily grinned, "Why not?!"
