Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: System Missions

"What kind of point system is this? It should be called the 'I'll Die System.' Completing a mission only gives a hundred points? Are you treating me like a beggar? The good stuff in the shop costs a ridiculous number of points. How am I supposed to make a name for myself relying on this?" Isamu cursed at the system.

The Uchiha Clan was currently divided into two factions.

One was the Martial Faction, led by the Great Elder. They were die-hard supporters of Uchiha Madara. The Great Elder's strength was comparable to the Clan Head's, but unfortunately, he had too few supporters and lost the position of Clan Head.

Madara had once been the Clan Head, so it was normal for him to have loyal followers. It was a pity that when Madara originally wanted to lead the clan away from Konoha, most of the clan members opposed the idea, forcing him to leave alone. Although the Martial Faction had been willing to follow him, Madara refused to take them with him.

The other faction was the Moderate Faction, led by the current Clan Head—formerly the Great Elder—Uchiha Seiyou. They enjoyed the peaceful life in Konoha, which was why they rejected Madara's proposal back then.

The Martial Faction numbered only about a hundred people, while the Moderate Faction had thousands.

Although the Martial Faction was small in number, their combat power was formidable. They were essentially a society of warriors. Everyone—whether elderly or female—was a ninja, except for the very young children who could barely walk. However, aside from the Great Elder, they lacked top-tier combat power among their lower ranks.

The Moderate Faction was different. Although not everyone was a fighter like in the Martial Faction, they made up for it with numbers. In addition, they had the Clan Head, the true authority of the clan, and their top-tier combat power exceeded that of the Martial Faction. Besides the Clan Head, there was also Uchiha Kagami, who had been accepted as a disciple by Senju Tobirama.

From what Isamu knew, Uchiha Yo belonged to the Moderate Faction. Although Yo was only a Genin, he wasn't an ordinary one—he was an Elite Genin, someone infinitely close to becoming a Chunin.

With Isamu's strength as a normal Genin, he was simply no match for Uchiha Yo.

The more Isamu thought about it, the angrier he became.

"Damn system, do you really want me to die this early? If you want me dead, just erase me directly. Why bother issuing a mission? Are you trying to humiliate me?"

The moment he finished cursing, the system's voice rang out.

[Ding! Beginner Gift Pack distributed. The host may choose one A-rank or lower Ninjutsu, or unlock the One-Tomoe Sharingan.]

Seeing the Beginner Gift Pack, Isamu snorted.

"This system really needs to be scolded. If I hadn't cursed at you, were you planning not to give me the beginner pack? Hmph. I'm seriously annoyed."

After venting his frustration, he carefully examined the options.

Looking at the choices, Isamu decisively gave up on the A-rank Ninjutsu.

"Forget high-level Ninjutsu. With my tiny amount of Chakra, I wouldn't even be able to cast it after learning it."

Then he looked at the other option.

"The One-Tomoe Sharingan isn't bad. It would improve my perception, which would be a huge boost to my current strength."

Just as he was about to choose the One-Tomoe Sharingan, he noticed the exchange price in the shop—and immediately exploded with anger.

"Damn system! The exchange price for the One-Tomoe Sharingan is only 100 points! I could just complete one mission and exchange for it myself. This isn't even a real choice! It's basically just giving me one Ninjutsu below A-rank for free!"

"Come out here if you dare—I swear I'll beat you up!"

After his angry rant, the system remained completely silent.

Seeing that the system ignored him, Isamu hesitated for a long time before finally making his decision.

"System, I choose the C-rank Ninjutsu: Fire Release—Great Fireball Technique."

The moment he made the choice, knowledge of the technique flooded his mind.

Suddenly, it felt as if he had practiced the Great Fireball Technique for years. He understood every step of the technique, from Chakra control to the exact sequence of hand seals.

"This Ninjutsu is perfect for me right now," Isamu muttered.

"With my current Genin-level Chakra, I can use it at most three times. As long as I find the right opportunity and land a hit on Uchiha Yo, this mission can be completed."

"The first mission must be finished perfectly."

He clenched his fists.

As for hand seals, since there wasn't much else for him to study over the years, Isamu had spent most of his time practicing them. Now, the speed of his hand seals was almost comparable to adult Kakashi's.

Time passed slowly as Isamu sat quietly in his house, waiting for Uchiha Yo to arrive.

Half an hour passed.

Then one hour.

Then three hours.

Then five hours.

By the time darkness fell outside, Isamu finally couldn't sit still anymore.

"System, what the hell are you doing? Didn't you say Uchiha Yo would come looking for trouble? It's already night and he hasn't shown up. Are you messing with me?"

"Don't think I'll let you off just because you stay quiet. I'm telling you—I'll keep cursing you no matter what!"

Isamu launched into another barrage of insults.

After shouting at the system for ten minutes straight, he finally stopped. His throat was dry from yelling, yet the system didn't respond with a single word.

"Damn! You really can endure. Fine, system—you win."

"I'll go out and see what's actually going on."

After drinking a glass of water, Isamu walked out of the house.

He wandered around nearby for a while before finally realizing the problem.

"No wonder Uchiha Yo didn't come looking for me. This area where my house is located—forget people, there isn't even a dog here. I never paid attention before, but this place barely has any foot traffic."

After complaining for a bit, he slowly walked toward the more crowded areas.

Just as he approached a busy part of the territory, Isamu spotted his target.

"Uchiha Yo, so you're here. No wonder I couldn't find you."

"Since you won't come to me, I'll come to you."

With that, Isamu calmly walked toward Yo without even glancing at him.

At the same time, Uchiha Yo also noticed Isamu.

A malicious smile appeared on his face.

"You jinx. Let's see how I deal with you today."

Ignoring the warnings from the adults to stay away from Isamu, Uchiha Yo walked straight toward him.

To Yo, Isamu was the perfect bullying target.

A useless former Young Clan Head who had lost his status, lacked strength, and was practically under house arrest.

The two walked toward each other as if they didn't know one another.

Just as they were about to pass by, Uchiha Yo suddenly leaned sideways and slammed into Isamu.

"Oh? Isn't this our Young Clan Head, Uchiha Isamu?" Yo said mockingly.

"Oh wait—my mistake. I should say the former Young Clan Head. What brings you out for a stroll today?"

"What exactly are you trying to say?" Isamu glared at him coldly.

He wanted to see exactly how Uchiha Yo planned to provoke him.

"What do I want to say?" Yo sneered.

"It's because of your father that our clan was driven from the center of the village to this corner by Hokage-sama!"

"If it weren't for your father, the Uchiha Clan wouldn't have lost the position of Second Hokage!"

"This is all your father's fault!"

"And you still dare act arrogant? Today I'll teach you a lesson, you piece of trash!"

With that, Uchiha Yo suddenly threw a punch at Isamu.

Watching the sudden attack, Isamu twisted his body and dodged.

The moment he avoided the punch, he turned and launched a kick at Yo. However, Yo's Taijutsu was solid, and he dodged the attack as well.

Fists and kicks collided.

For a moment, the two were evenly matched.

Seeing that he couldn't gain the upper hand, Uchiha Yo suddenly pulled out a kunai and threw it at Isamu.

The kunai struck its target.

For a brief moment, Uchiha Yo was stunned. He hadn't expected it to be that easy.

But the next second—

Poof!

The Isamu that had been hit turned into a log.

"Substitution Jutsu!"

Realizing he had been tricked, Yo quickly reacted. But before he could move, a kunai was already pressed against his neck.

Isamu's calm voice sounded behind him.

"You lost."

Despite the kunai at his throat, Uchiha Yo didn't panic.

"I knew it wouldn't be that easy to deal with you," he said calmly. "But don't think I'm that simple either."

Poof!

Yo also turned into a log.

The battle resumed immediately.

As the fight continued, Isamu gradually fell into a disadvantage. After all, his opponent was an Elite Genin, while he himself was only an ordinary Genin.

He could keep up for a short time, but as the battle dragged on, he slowly began to lose ground.

---

An ANBU member who was monitoring Isamu spoke to his captain.

"Captain, they're fighting openly in the village. Should we intervene?"

"Intervene? For what?" the captain replied lazily.

"They're just kids playing around. Look—Uchiha Isamu is already at a disadvantage."

"Besides, it's just the Uchiha Clan fighting among themselves. What does that have to do with us?"

"It'd actually be better if Isamu gets beaten up," the captain added dismissively. "Then we can report it to Hokage-sama. After all, Hokage-sama doesn't like him anyway."

"Th-this doesn't seem right, Captain…"

"What's not right about it? Just watch."

---

While the ANBU were chatting, the battle continued.

As time passed, the situation became increasingly unfavorable for Isamu.

He retreated while dodging attacks, carefully searching for the right opportunity to unleash his Ninjutsu.
