Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Best Experimental Material

Luo Cheng received a text from Cafe, asking him to go to the research lab.

The research lab? The image of that dead-eyed horse girl, Agnes Tachyon, appeared in his mind.

As Tracen's most famous experimenter, Tachyon had caused plenty of chaos. Filling the lab with noxious fumes was the least of it. Once, she had made Luo Cheng think the place was on fire, and he'd rushed in with a fire extinguisher, terrified that the horse girls were too "robotic" to realize the danger. He'd regret it for a lifetime if those pale skins were scarred by fire. He liked horse girls, but he wasn't interested in adding "trauma" to his list of preferences.

Fortunately, the horse girls did react to emergencies. Disciplinarians wearing armbands marked "Public Morals" quickly rushed to the leak site and apprehended the suspect, Agnes Tachyon. She was taken to the Disciplinarian office.

Such incidents were common. At first, Luo Cheng was surprised, but he soon grew to enjoy these "random events." She frequently caused chaos in Tracen, and being caught up in the crowd made him feel like he was part of a plotline. From then on, he started paying attention to Tachyon—not just because she fit his tastes, but because of her personality. Her eccentric nature provided him with entertainment in the otherwise stagnant game world beyond just "spicy" activities.

After interacting with her more, Luo Cheng could only say that Agnes Tachyon was wonderful. Her D-cup chest provided a perfect grip, and those lifeless eyes had a unique charm. Perhaps because she loved sweets, her lips were sweet, with a strong aroma of black tea. Luo Cheng liked her very much.

Wait, wasn't Agnes Tachyon supposed to be a genius? Having always seen the "Game Tachyon," Luo Cheng had completely ignored her genius setting. Now that she was "respawned," interacting with her might be different.

When he arrived at the lab, a strange medicinal smell hit his nose. Luo Cheng fanned the air in front of him. The room's layout hadn't changed; it was still filled with flasks and vials glowing with various colors. A first-timer might be frightened, but Luo Cheng was already well-acquainted with the place—it was practically his second home.

Seeing Agnes Tachyon, a cryptic smile appeared on her face.

"You've come, Guinea Pig-kun."

Guinea Pig-kun? According to the game setting, that was what she called her Trainer. I'm not her Trainer yet, am I? Well, even if he wasn't now, he would be later. He had no intention of letting anyone else have her.

"Hello, Tachyon." Luo Cheng sat on the sofa.

"I heard about your situation from Cafe. Can you tell me in detail about this 'game world' of yours?"

"You believe me?"

"A theory cannot be dismissed until it is disproven. It is not a matter of belief, but of proof."

"It contains a lot of 18+ content. I'm afraid you'll send me to meet my maker with a single uppercut. Give me your word first that you won't kill me."

"Medicine is built upon the dissection of the human body. If you want to talk about taboos, modern science is proof that humanity constantly violates them. And as for doing 'bad things,' no one dares claim first place while I am second. I am in no position to criticize you. You can rest easy on that front."

"Fine."

Since she asked so sincerely, Luo Cheng didn't plan to hide anything. Her affection was exactly at 80—quite high, even higher than the Student Council trio. She was a "fixed-spawn" treasure chest; he could find her just by coming to the lab, so he'd "opened" her often.

Luo Cheng told her everything. He didn't beat around the bush; he was blunt about his experiences.

"Hoh? This is truly interesting." Tachyon looked intrigued. As Luo Cheng had expected, she didn't find any issue with it. What was wrong with a man and a woman mating? It was a natural biological process. "What you do over there is completely different from here. It sounds like a teenager's daydream. How old are you—twenty-two, twenty-three?"

"Twenty-two," Luo Cheng replied.

"You should be past the age of daydreaming. Do you have a girlfriend?"

"Does 'all of you' count?"

"If you think it counts, it counts. Do you have time this weekend?"

"I have to take Teio out this weekend."

"Then next time." Tachyon returned to her seat. "Currently, it seems there is a definite link between that world and this one, though I cannot yet define the nature of that link. However, based on what you've said, one thing is certain: the 'Agnes Tachyon' of the game world is synchronized with me. She does exactly what I do."

Tachyon taped a piece of paper to the wall.

"I will make this my primary research project—uncovering the link between the two worlds. Even if you return to the game world, I will continue this research. You can find 'me' there directly. Ah, right—you don't have command authority over me yet. Let's just sign a contract then. Perhaps you'll be able to command me to conduct research over there."

Agnes Tachyon was rationally terrifying—and terrifyingly smart.

"I'll call you if I have any questions, Guinea Pig-kun."

"Okay. I'll leave it to you, Tachyon."

"In truth, I am also curious: is it you who has a problem, or is it this world?"

"Maybe both?"

"Then that would be truly interesting. Just thinking about it makes me want to laugh. Haha!" Tachyon clutched her stomach and let out a rhythmic, mocking laugh.

"Tachyon, your personality really is great."

"Hoh? In truth, I also like how interesting you are, Guinea Pig-kun."

After seeing Luo Cheng out, Tachyon lay on the sofa. She kicked off her shoes and stretched her toes. It had been a long time since anything had captivated her like this. To Tachyon, what Luo Cheng did to the horse girls didn't matter—whether it was a delusion or reality, she didn't care. she only wanted to know if that incredible world was real.

In truth, the moment Luo Cheng had entered the room, she felt her body react to his arrival in a way it never had before. His words were indeed backed by evidence. Tachyon thought about just taking his body for research right now. Since he could travel between worlds, perhaps his body was different from ordinary humans.

Don't worry, I won't hurt him. I just want to collect some of his body fluids. He was already used to this sort of thing anyway; a little roughness wouldn't hurt. Perhaps the Guinea Pig would even enjoy it. Being "extracted," that is.

Agnes Tachyon had a new direction for her experiments.
