"All that studying for a test whose structure I don't even know." I thought to myself.
Suddenly, the boy next to her, a kid with spikey black hair and a backwards blue cap, jumped up screaming "Yes!"
The girl and I looked at him strangely. He looked at us equally as perplexed.
"What's wrong? Did I do something?" He asked.
"Uh… You kinda just shot up nowhere screaming 'Yes!'" I explained to him.
"Well yeah, I'm glad the test structure changed! See I wanna be a Battle Puppeteer but I'm not particularly the strongest or brightest…" He chuckled nervously.
The girl huffs angrily.
"Why were you listenin' in on my and…" She waits for me to give her my name.
"Kintaro."
"Kintaro & I's conversation, huh?! It's called an A-B conversation. Shoulda C-een your way out've it!"
The boy waves his hands around nervously.
"Geez lady! I didn't mean ta eavesdrop!"
A man undoes the rope. He was tall. I'd say around 6'1. He had long brown hair for a guy with scars across both his eyes, his pupils white. He was smoking a cigarette.
"Calm down you three. I'll be your supervisor, Sojobo Ukyo. You'll refer to me as Sojobo-sensei or simply Sensei. Understood?"
The three of us calm down and listen to him, his presence imposing.
"Yes Sojobo-sensei." We say in unison.
Sojobo takes a puff of his cigarette and takes a look at the list given to him.
"Alright then. The lucky three who get to take the alternative test are…"
"Ogata Kintaro…"
I stood. "Yes sir!"
"Matsura Hinako…"
The girl followed "Present."
"And Ishikawa Yuto…"
The spikey haired kid got up at last "What's up Mr. Sensei, sir!"
Sojobo scoffed.
"Follow me you three, we're taking you to a different part of the campus. Because you missed the main written exam, your practical will be handled separately from the standard bracket."
The three of us would follow him to a small trailer around the back entrance of the arena. There, another kid and teacher were waiting.
Sojobo walked up to the teacher. "Yo, Kagami-sensei. Who's this kid?" Sojobo pointed at the boy next to the other teacher.
The other teacher, Kagami Shinobu, was a frail looking man with fox eyes and an unnervingly gentle smile.
"He's a last minute entry is all… I assume these are the little chicks who forgot to take the written exam before the prelims?"
Sojobo nodded.
"Yeah, so let's go ahead and take them inside and get this test started."
Sojobo ushered us in, the other boy included. His hair was long and covered his eyes. He wore a black turtleneck with baggy pants. He was kind of a shady looking dude.
