Chapter 14 - INTO THE LION'S DEN

The car weaved silently through the city streets, tires gripping wet asphalt. Elena clutched the seat, her knuckles pale, heart hammering against her ribs.

"Where are we going?" she asked, voice barely above a whisper.

Dante didn't answer immediately. He kept his eyes on the road, calm, controlled—everything he was, everything she feared, everything she wanted.

"You'll see soon enough," he said finally. "And when you do… understand one thing: you belong here. With me. Not just in body, but in every way that matters."

Elena swallowed hard. Her pulse jumped at the possessiveness in his tone.

Hours—or maybe less; time felt warped—later, they arrived at a location Elena would never have found on her own.

Hidden in the forested outskirts of the city, a massive estate rose behind high walls of dark stone. Towers peeked above treetops, security cameras gleaming like eyes, gates that looked impenetrable.

"This… is your world?" she asked, awe and fear lacing her voice.

He didn't smile. "Part of it. You're about to see the rest."

Inside, the estate was a fortress disguised as a mansion.

Hallways lined with security panels, rooms dedicated to weapons, surveillance, and intelligence. Dante moved with purpose, each step echoing authority. Elena followed, barely breathing, overwhelmed by the scale and danger of it all.

"This is… insane," she whispered, eyes wide as she took in the sights.

"You've seen the world," Dante said, "but not mine. And in my world, knowledge is power, control is survival, and weakness… can get you killed."

They reached a private room.

Here, Dante paused and turned to her, expression softening just slightly.

"You'll meet people I trust. My inner circle. They'll protect you as I do."

Elena nodded, though her stomach twisted. She didn't know if she wanted protection, or if she wanted to run and hide forever.

Dante stepped closer. His presence was magnetic, suffocating, inescapable.

"You've survived this long," he murmured, "not by luck. By instinct. And by trusting me."

"I'm still terrified," she admitted.

He brushed a strand of hair from her face, fingers grazing her cheek.

"Good," he said softly. "Because that fear… it will keep you alive. But so will this."
