In a hidden factory deep within Gotham's East End, silence hung thick in the air.
"Ahhh…"
Kyle slowly lowered the man in his arms.
Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth, and his face showed an almost intoxicating satisfaction. The body he had been holding twitched weakly before finally going still.
He licked the blood from his lips and stood quietly, savoring the sensation.
A surge of strength flowed through his veins.
Kyle turned his head toward the factory entrance where the last glow of the setting sun filtered through broken windows. The golden light stretched across the floor in thin strips.
Curious, he extended his bloodstained hand toward the fading sunlight.
The moment his skin touched the light—
Sss—
Pain exploded through his palm.
It felt as if his flesh had been thrown into open flames. Kyle's face twitched as he quickly pulled his hand back.
A thin thread of smoke curled upward from the burned skin.
"So I can't endure even the ultraviolet rays of sunset," he murmured.
His voice carried a hint of regret, but his expression remained calm.
He slowly turned around and looked at the massive factory behind him.
The interior had already fallen into darkness.
Corpses were scattered across the floor.
At this moment, he was the only living person left inside the entire building.
That was intentional.
Kyle had made his decision earlier.
He had betrayed the League of Assassins.
Every assassin stationed in this factory had been killed by his hands.
Kyle had never been a softhearted man.
He walked deeper into the shadows of the factory and waited patiently for night to fall.
…
Phew—
A figure dropped silently from the top of a nearby tree.
The man landed lightly outside the factory entrance. He wore black clothing, and a long blade was strapped across his back.
His eyes swept across the empty clearing.
He frowned slightly.
Orders from above had sent him here.
His task was simple—retrieve Dr. Kyle, who should still have been detained inside the facility.
The assassin stepped quietly toward the factory.
As he moved deeper into the building, his eyes narrowed.
Something felt wrong.
Snap.
His foot suddenly pressed against something sticky.
The man paused and lifted his foot.
A dark liquid clung to the ground.
He leaned closer and sniffed lightly.
A faint smell of blood filled his nose.
Tsk.
His head snapped sideways instantly.
A dagger flashed past his neck.
Thanks to his incredible reflexes, the assassin avoided the strike at the last moment. In one smooth motion, he pulled the long blade from his back and slashed downward.
The blade cut into his attacker's shoulder.
"Ah!"
A shadowy figure fell to the ground, clutching the wounded shoulder in pain.
The assassin immediately pointed his blade at the man's forehead.
"Who are you?" he demanded coldly.
The flicker of nearby light revealed the man's appearance.
His clothes were soaked in blood, and his face looked exhausted and pale.
"Dr. Kyle?"
The assassin's voice carried a hint of doubt.
His eyes scanned the surrounding darkness quickly, wary of hidden enemies.
"This place was attacked by people from the Judgment Council," Kyle said hoarsely, holding his injured shoulder. "I don't know why, but they let me go."
"Judgment Council…"
The name instantly made the assassin tense.
Recently, that organization had become infamous across Gotham.
His eyes darted through the shadows as if expecting some monstrous figure to emerge at any moment.
Kyle coughed weakly.
"I think… you should get me out of here first."
The assassin stepped backward slowly, positioning himself carefully in front of Kyle while still watching the darkness.
Suddenly he grabbed Kyle's collar and dragged him forward.
A flash of steel appeared.
"Ah!"
Kyle screamed in pain.
The assassin's blade slashed across his other arm.
Blood splattered across Kyle's white robe.
The assassin felt slightly reassured.
That strike had nearly crippled him.
Still, he didn't fully trust Kyle's story.
Moving ahead cautiously, he focused his attention on exploring the factory's surroundings.
Behind him, Kyle stumbled as he followed.
Soon the assassin stopped.
A corpse lay ahead.
The guard's body was drenched in blood.
His head had been severed completely.
"Hmm?"
The assassin crouched down.
The wound on the neck was clean and vicious—clearly made by a sharp blade.
Suddenly realization flashed across his mind.
He turned around instantly.
But it was too late.
Kyle's speed exploded.
His body slammed into the assassin and knocked him to the ground.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunshots thundered through the silent factory.
Kyle had prepared the pistol long ago.
The moment he tackled the assassin, he aimed directly at the man's upper body and emptied the entire magazine.
Blood burst into the air.
But even while wounded, the assassin swung his blade desperately.
The sword slashed toward Kyle.
Yet the attack missed.
Kyle's body twisted away with unnatural speed.
"What are you doing?!" the assassin shouted angrily, blood spilling from his mouth.
His face had turned deathly pale.
His eyes stared at Kyle's arms.
Both arms had been slashed earlier.
But now—
"You think injuries like that can restrain me?" Kyle said with a low chuckle.
He slowly lifted his arm.
The deep wound from the sword had completely healed.
Not even a scar remained.
The assassin's pupils shrank violently.
Before he could react—
Bang!
Kyle suddenly drew a second pistol.
This time his terrible aim worked in his favor.
The bullet struck the assassin directly in the head.
The man's body jerked backward before collapsing heavily onto the floor.
His eyes trembled slightly.
He was still barely alive.
Kyle stepped forward slowly.
A cruel smile spread across his face.
Then his lips parted, revealing long crimson fangs.
In the darkness of the factory, the sound of liquid being sucked echoed quietly.
…
"This feeling…"
Kyle slowly stood up.
His eyes were filled with deep intoxication.
The extraordinary blood flowing within the assassin's body had been completely drained by him.
Power surged violently through Kyle's veins.
His eyes glowed faintly red.
He removed his blood-soaked robe, revealing a body filled with powerful muscles.
Looking down at the corpse whose neck had been nearly torn apart, a satisfied expression appeared on his face.
"I didn't expect your blood to strengthen me so much," Kyle muttered thoughtfully. "Perhaps even the Blood God doesn't know about this."
The factory remained silent.
Kyle's figure suddenly blurred.
In an instant, he disappeared into the vast night of Gotham.
…
A long time later—
A faint whistling sound echoed through the trees.
Several black shadows emerged from the forest and rushed toward the factory.
Leading them was a tall, burly man dressed entirely in black.
His eyes swept across the dark factory.
Then he suddenly stepped inside.
The others followed silently behind him.
Moments later, the factory lights flickered on.
Bodies were gathered together near the entrance.
The burly man made a call, reporting everything he had discovered.
After describing the entire situation, he ended the call and walked toward one particular corpse.
He examined the neck wound closely.
It looked as if a wild beast had torn the flesh apart.
A trace of cold cruelty appeared in his eyes.
The skin of the corpse was pale and strangely elastic.
His pupils narrowed slightly.
"His blood was drained completely."
The burly man spoke in a low voice.
He lifted his head slowly and looked toward the distant lights of Gotham's night market glowing on the horizon.
