After a few seconds, the Abomination clawed his way out of the crater once again. Dirt and broken concrete slid off his massive body as he slowly straightened, lifting his head to glare at Ethan Blake hovering in the air.
Fury and cruelty burned inside the monster's eyes, and a low growl rumbled deep in his throat. His enormous body crouched slightly as his muscles tensed.
Then he pushed off violently with his legs.
The ground beneath his feet shattered like a spiderweb, and the Abomination shot upward like a massive cannonball.
Ethan had no intention of playing around any longer.
The fight had already lasted long enough, and there was no reason to drag it out further. He decided to end the battle quickly.
He extended his right arm and spread his fingers wide.
Then he slowly clenched them.
A golden spear appeared in his hand.
Red-Backed Shrike.
It was the exclusive weapon of Demon Armor: Incursio. In the golden armor form, the spear possessed terrifying destructive power capable of piercing almost anything.
Ethan's wings flapped once as he leaned forward and rushed straight toward the Abomination.
In the next instant, the spear point collided with the monster's massive fist.
There was no resistance.
The Red-Backed Shrike pierced straight through the Abomination's hand as if it were paper.
The spear continued forward without slowing, drilling through muscle and bone until it drove deep into the creature's chest.
The weapon finally stopped only after it had completely impaled the monster.
The Abomination crashed to the ground, pinned firmly to the street.
Ethan landed beside the fallen monster and looked down at him with mild surprise.
As expected of a creature evolved from the Hulk's blood.
Even after having his heart pierced, the Abomination still wasn't dead.
The monster stared up at Ethan with bloodshot eyes, his chest trembling as he struggled to breathe.
"Who… are you…?!" the Abomination growled hoarsely. "Who are you?!"
"Who am I?" Ethan repeated with a faint smile.
He casually pulled the Red-Backed Shrike from the monster's chest.
Then, without hesitation, he drove the spear straight down into the Abomination's skull.
"If you manage to see God," Ethan said calmly, "you can ask him who killed you."
He paused slightly before continuing in a relaxed tone.
"But I doubt you're going there. You'll probably end up in hell instead. Actually… you might not even get that chance. Sorry about that."
Only then did Ethan suddenly remember something.
The souls of those who died with resentment or violence were often converted into summoning energy by his system. If that happened, the Abomination wouldn't even have a soul left to send anywhere.
At the moment the monster's life finally faded away, the progress bar of the summoning technique deep within Ethan's consciousness suddenly surged forward again.
It exceeded one hundred percent.
The Abomination truly was a massive source of experience.
Before killing the monster, the summoning energy had only reached forty-five percent. After the Abomination died, the progress instantly jumped all the way to one hundred and two percent.
In just a short period of time, the creature had probably caused hundreds of deaths.
That wasn't surprising.
After all, they were standing in one of the busiest areas in New York City.
Ethan glanced upward toward the helicopter hovering in the sky. He had no interest in dealing with the military, especially not with someone like General Ross.
Back when Ethan was still serving in the army, Ross had tried several times to recruit him personally.
Ethan didn't even need to think to know why.
Ross had clearly wanted to drag him into the restarted Super Soldier Program.
After all, Ethan's performance and achievements during his time in the military had been exceptional. When he announced his retirement, it had even drawn the attention of a Pentagon general who personally tried to persuade him to stay.
In the end, Ethan still insisted on leaving.
The general eventually recommended him to the FBI instead.
Activating the invisibility ability of the Demon Armor, Ethan's golden figure slowly began to fade. His form gradually became transparent until he completely vanished from sight.
Inside the helicopter, General Ross stared in shock as the mysterious golden warrior disappeared.
His face immediately darkened.
"Search the entire city," Ross ordered angrily. "Find that golden guy."
Unfortunately for him, that was completely impossible.
And after what had happened today, Ross probably wouldn't be enjoying his position for much longer anyway.
Hundreds of civilians had died in New York City.
That kind of disaster demanded someone take responsibility.
Ross was the most convenient target.
After disappearing from the battlefield, Ethan removed the Demon Armor in a quiet alley somewhere nearby. Once the armor vanished, he simply teleported back home.
By the time he arrived, Wanda and Pietro had already returned.
The siblings were arguing again.
Pietro lay sprawled across the couch like a corpse while Wanda stood in front of him with her hands on her hips.
"Pietro, get up," Wanda said firmly. "You still haven't finished today's test papers."
"We just finished eating," Pietro groaned miserably. "Can't you let me rest for a little while, Wanda?"
Wanda rolled her eyes before suddenly speaking in a playful tone.
"If you call me 'big sister,' I'll let you rest for a bit. Deal?"
"Then I'll just do the test papers."
"Hmph! Then hurry up and go do them." Wanda puffed her cheeks in annoyance.
Watching the two of them argue, Ethan couldn't help shaking his head helplessly. He waved casually at the siblings and walked back to his own room.
Once inside, he sat down in his chair and closed his eyes.
His consciousness sank deep into his mind.
"Begin summoning," Ethan murmured silently.
The summoning energy immediately changed from 102% down to 2%.
A moment later, new information appeared inside his mind.
"Summoning successful. You have obtained — Dumbledore's Magical Inheritance."
"Dumbledore's Magical Inheritance: As the greatest contemporary wizard in the Harry Potter world, Dumbledore's mastery of magic rivals that of the ancient magical sages. After accepting the inheritance, you will receive over one hundred years of magical knowledge and experience, along with the magical power he possessed at his peak. Accept inheritance?"
Inheritance-type reward?!
Joy flashed through Ethan's eyes.
Since arriving in this world, he had already performed nearly twenty summons.
Among all the items he had obtained, the most valuable in his opinion was the Super Ability Training Box from the Doraemon universe.
Right behind it was the inheritance of Deadshot, Floyd Lawton.
Thanks to Deadshot's knowledge and experience, Ethan had transformed from a physically strong but inexperienced man into a truly dangerous fighter.
Without that inheritance, the bag of Senzu Beans he had summoned earlier would probably have been completely used up long ago.
What he didn't expect was that this new summon was also an inheritance-type reward.
And it was magical inheritance.
More importantly, it was different from Deadshot's inheritance.
Deadshot's reward had only provided combat experience and skills.
Dumbledore's magical inheritance contained not only knowledge and experience, but also the magical power itself.
