Chapter 4 - The Martial Arts Menace

The morning after my "private lesson" with Professor Kross, the campus atmosphere had shifted. The air felt heavy, vibrating with the whispered leftovers of my performance at the King of Hearts. But as I crossed the quad, the sunlight was abruptly cut off by a solid shadow.

"So, you're the one everyone is buzzing about," a sharp, feminine voice barked.

I looked up. Standing in my path was Mika—the captain of the campus Judo club. She was a vision of athletic precision, wearing a sleeveless hoodie that framed arms hardened by the mat. Her dark hair was pulled into a chaotic ponytail, and her eyes held the sparking challenge of struck flint.

A high-pitched, predatory chime resonated in my brain.

"Ooh, a real fighter," Seraphina's voice purred. "Look at those deltoids, Leo. She could snap you like a dry twig. I think I love her already."

"Are you Leo Vance?" Mika asked, invading my personal space. She leaned in, her nose wrinkling as she caught my scent. "You don't smell like a King. You smell like... old parchment and quiet desperation."

I felt the [Aura] stat ignite, forcing my spine to straighten with a sudden, metallic confidence. "Maybe you're just not used to the scent of someone who doesn't spend their entire life breathing in the recycled air of a sweaty gym, Mika."

Mika's eyes widened. She smirked, a jagged, predatory expression. "The nerd has teeth. My brother, Chad, said you were just a glitch in the ranking. He's pretty agitated about last night."

"Chad's your brother?" I groaned. "Of course. The ego is a family trait."

[SUDDEN QUEST: TAME THE TIGER]

Task: Win a 'Sparring Match' against Mika.

Special Condition: Pin her for five seconds.

Reward: Physical Reflexes +10, [Bullet-Time] Unlocked.

Penalty: 'The Fountain Curse' (Total loss of coordination around Mika for 30 days).

"The Dojo at noon," Mika commanded, her knuckles hot against my chest. "If you last three minutes, I'll tell Chad to back off. If not... I'll personally deposit you in the trash can where you belong."

[TARGET SCAN: MIKA MILLER]

Liking Meter: 10% [Status: Hostile/Curious]

At noon, the Dojo was a sanctuary of cedar and silence. Mika was waiting in a crisp white Gi, her belt cinched tight around a waist that looked like coiled cable.

"Rules are simple," she said, bouncing on her toes with rhythmic intensity. "First one to a pin wins. Ready?"

"Ready," I said. My voice sounded deeper, resonating with a strange power as the Rizz System synchronized with my muscle fibers. A heavy, resonant gong sounded in my mind, signaling the start.

Mika moved like a blur of white cotton. She lunged, her hand reaching for my shoulder like a striking cobra. But the world didn't just slow down—it turned into liquid electricity.

[SKILL ACTIVATED: BULLET-TIME REFLEXES]

[Cost: 100 Rizz Points]

I pivoted an inch to the left, her fingers grazing my hoodie like a passing draft. She gasped, spinning for a low sweep kick, but I was already occupying the space behind her. "Too slow," I whispered.

I reached out, my arms locking around her waist from behind. She felt like solid muscle and startled adrenaline. I felt the frantic, staccato beat of her heart against my forearms as I hauled her back, our bodies flushing together in a sudden heat.

We hit the mats with a bone-jarring thud. I was on top of her, my chest anchoring hers. Her face was inches from mine, her breath coming in sharp, jagged gasps that smelled of sea salt and peppermint.

"One... two... three..." I counted, my gaze locked on hers. Mika stopped struggling. Her face, which had been pale with focus, erupted into a brilliant, volcanic red.

"Four... five," I finished. A triumphant Level-Up chime echoed in my skull.

"I win," I said, but I didn't get up. I stayed there, pinned to her, feeling the raw friction radiating between us. Mika looked up at me, her eyes no longer icy. They were dazed, searching.

[NOTIFICATION: Mika's Liking Meter has hit 30%]

"How..." she breathed. "You're just a nerd. How are you so strong?"

"Maybe I'm just a very fast learner," I said, leaning in just enough to make her eyelashes flutter.

Suddenly, the doors slammed open with a violent crash. Hana was standing there, her eyes wide. "Leo?! What are you doing?!"

I scrambled to my feet, the sudden loss of Mika's warmth making the room feel freezing. "Hana! It's not what it looks like!"

"It looks like you're collecting girls like Pokemon!" Hana shouted, her face twisting with a mix of anger and pure betrayal. She turned and ran out before I could reach her.

The sky over the campus had turned the color of a fresh bruise, heavy and sagging with rain. I ran out of the Dojo, the damp air hitting my skin like a slap. A deafening crack of thunder swallowed my voice.

"Hana! Wait!"

Heavy rain began to fall, a steady rhythmic drumming on the pavement.

"If you don't catch her in thirty seconds," Seraphina warned, "her meter is going to drop into the Resentment Zone."

I saw her near the bike racks. Her shoulders were shaking. I reached out, grabbing the edge of her jacket. "Hana, stop!"

"Let go, Leo! Go back to your fan club!" She spun around, eyes red-rimmed.

[EMERGENCY QUEST: THE RAIN-SOAKED TRUTH]

Task: Use 'Wall-Pin' (Kabedon) to stop her.

Reward: [Emotional Synchronization] Skill.

Penalty: Rizz Level resets to ZERO for 48 hours.

I stepped into her path, splashing through a deep puddle. I placed my hands on the brick wall behind her, trapping her. The scent of wet asphalt and strawberry shampoo filled the space between us.

"You've changed, Leo," she whispered. "I feel like I'm losing the only person who actually saw me."

My heart wrenched. I reached out, my thumb brushing a tear from her cheek. My touch was light, tentative—the Rizz System wasn't forcing this. This was all me.

"You're not losing me, Hana," I said, my voice low and thick with honesty. "This confidence doesn't mean anything if you're not there to see it."

I leaned in, my forehead resting against hers. A soft, warm hum, like a cello string being plucked, vibrated in my mind.

[Hana's Liking Meter: 65% — PEAKING]

I leaned down, my lips inches from hers. The tension was electric. Suddenly, my smartphone let out a loud, obnoxious notification chime.

[NEW MESSAGE: TIFFANY BROOKS]

"Meet me at the cafe in 10 minutes. Don't be late, nerd."

Hana saw the name on the screen. The warmth in her eyes vanished instantly. "Ten minutes, huh? Better hurry, Leo. Wouldn't want to keep the Queen waiting."

She sped off into the rain, leaving me alone in the downpour.

[QUEST FAILED.]

[PENALTY INITIATED: Rizz Level Resetting to Zero in 3... 2... 1...]

The world turned grey. The 'Aura' around me vanished. My reflection in a nearby puddle looked like the old, invisible Leo again.

"Oh, Leo," Seraphina sighed. "Better get to that cafe. Without your stats, Tiffany is going to eat you alive."
