Chapter 91 - Chapter 91

"Boss, bad news. Emergency situation. The transport vehicle carrying the T-0 serum you had us deliver to Kennedy has been hijacked."

"According to the investigation, the people behind it are members of Miami's Skull Gang, an outside gang. They've been causing quite a stir in Miami lately, but because they're armed and their activities have still been within what the authorities consider a tolerable range, the police haven't really cracked down on them."

Killian had originally been in his office reviewing the progress of the various projects when a rapid knock suddenly came at the door. After he gave permission, his secretary pushed the door open and rushed in, speaking anxiously.

"Heh. Interesting."

"Skull Gang. I'd like to see whether they really are skulls."

"What did the police say?"

After hearing that the T-0 serum on his side had been taken, Killian was so angry he almost laughed.

He even began wondering whether he had kept too low a profile lately, to the point that these little gang punks actually dared to set their sights on him for a payday.

"The police have already contacted us after receiving the news and said they'll treat this case as a top priority. They've mobilized the city's police force to search for the robbers, but it may take some time."

"The local police chief asked me to express his sincerest apologies to you."

Seeing the anger on her boss's face, the secretary reported in a careful, quiet voice, clearly afraid of getting caught in the fallout.

"This isn't their fault. Some people are determined to die, and no one can stop them."

"Go tell the police that we'll handle our company's affairs ourselves."

Hearing the secretary's report, Killian felt nothing at all about the police chief's apology. Gang-related crime was common everywhere in the world, let alone robberies. And with the year still only being 2000, technology was nowhere near as advanced as it would be more than twenty years later, so the police often had little they could do.

But for Killian, since these people had decided to look for trouble with him, then they could not blame him for what came next.

And just then, Killian's phone rang.

He waved for the secretary to leave, then picked up the call from Kennedy.

"Killian, I already heard the news from Chief Robson. I think I'm still going to need your help."

The moment the call connected, Kennedy spoke first before Killian could say anything.

After all, those were the things Killian had specially arranged to be sent to him. According to Killian, they could even extend a person's lifespan. An entire transport vehicle's security detail had been assigned just to escort three vials, and Kennedy had even personally arranged for someone to pick them up.

To get those three vials, he had spent a full billion dollars, and one of them had even been included by Killian as a gift.

And yet they had been hijacked halfway there.

At this moment, Kennedy honestly felt like killing that useless police chief himself.

This was Florida.

Under his watch, something this serious had actually happened, and the thing that got stolen had belonged to him.

If word of that ever got out, he was certain he would become one of the biggest jokes among state politicians for decades to come.

But he also knew that no matter how furious he was, expecting the people on his side to find the robbers quickly was unrealistic.

If they wanted to locate the hijackers as soon as possible, they still needed Killian's help.

"Of course, Kennedy. Believe me, they didn't just slap Florida in the face. They also slapped Pioneer Technology in the face."

"I'll personally handle this matter."

In response to Kennedy's request, Killian spoke at once.

The T-0 serum had always been low in output to begin with, and every single vial was extremely expensive to make. All of it had to be refined from Stairway of the Sun flowers, and one vial required several flowers as raw material.

Although they had already cultivated a large quantity of Stairway of the Sun flowers, nearly every experiment in the company now required the stuff.

So even Killian could not help becoming furious.

He immediately stood up and, under guard, drove to the island laboratory.

"How are Subjects One through Three doing now? Can they be deployed?"

After passing through layer upon layer of security and arriving on the floor where Subjects One through Three had been moved, now located on Underground Level Forty, Killian immediately asked Samuel, who had jogged over to meet him.

"Boss, everything is progressing smoothly. Although they're still in the testing phase, using the new mind control chips together with the current smart control glasses, and relying on electromagnetic signal transmission, we can instantly transmit the wearer's conscious intent into the Tyrant's brain through a signal link. That makes perfect Tyrant control possible."

"However, in release mode, the control effect of the mind control chip drops drastically."

"But we can still use the smart control glasses to adjust what the Tyrant's brain perceives. We can alter what it sees in front of it, which works as an indirect form of control. Still, the uncertainty is much greater."

As he spoke, Samuel led Killian deeper into the lab while giving his report.

When he finished, he handed Killian a pair of pure blue high-tech smart glasses.

"That's enough. Box them up. I need them."

After putting on the glasses, Killian immediately saw the real-time monitoring panels for all three subjects projected before his eyes. On the far right side, he could even select individual control or group control with precision. Once he reached the lab itself, Killian began issuing commands to the three Tyrants through the smart glasses.

To his satisfaction, it worked perfectly.

Raise a hand.

Run.

Strike.

Jump.

They completed every command flawlessly.

Except for Subject One, that dummy. When Killian told him to jump, he really jumped with all his strength and got his entire head stuck in the ceiling.

In the end, Subjects Two and Three had to pull him back down.

Still, overall, the results were pretty good.

So Killian ordered his men to crate up the three Tyrant subjects and take them out.

"Boss, this..."

"It's too dangerous. Maybe you should think it over again."

Seeing that Killian was really planning to take the three test subjects outside, Samuel could not help trying to persuade him.

If the three subjects escaped, that would be bad enough.

But if anything happened to his boss, then how was he supposed to keep surviving in this company?

And if he could not survive here, then who was going to hand him his future Nobel Prize?

"Just tell me one thing. Do you have confidence in the smart glasses or not?"

Killian did not respond to the rest of Samuel's concern. He only looked him straight in the eyes and asked directly.

"Yes!"

"But..."
