Second, the undead summoned by the Nether Earth Ghost King had no consciousness of their own and no ability to think. They were completely puppets at his mercy.
And the undead spirits summoned by himself possessed the consciousness and wisdom they had when they were alive. Basically, it was temporarily resurrecting them in the exact same state as when they were alive.
Admittedly, possessing their own consciousness would, in a certain sense, add difficulty to controlling them.
But thinking from the opposite angle, the Nether Earth Ghost King could only manipulate the power of the undead. Whereas Alex could simultaneously obtain both the power and the wisdom the undead possessed in life.
Power could, at most, only slightly tip the scales of victory and defeat. But wisdom was an existence that could truly alter the outcome.
