Chapter 12 - The chase

Lena's heart stopped for a moment.

Across the park, under the dim yellow streetlight, Ryan stood quietly.

Watching her.

Smiling.

The phone slowly slipped from Lena's ear.

Ryan lowered his own phone and waved slightly.

Like this was a normal meeting between friends.

But Lena knew the truth now.

The same man standing there…

Had already killed her once.

Her phone vibrated again in her hand.

DING.

A new message appeared.

RUN AGAIN.

Her body reacted before her mind could think.

Lena turned and started running.

Behind her, Ryan's calm voice echoed through the park.

"Running again, Lena?"

She didn't stop.

Her shoes pounded against the pavement as she ran toward the park gate.

Her lungs burned.

Her heart felt like it would explode.

Behind her, she heard footsteps.

Ryan was chasing her.

But he wasn't running fast.

Almost like he was enjoying the game.

"Lena!" he called out.

"Stop running. You know how this ends."

Her phone vibrated again.

She quickly glanced at the screen while running.

Right side path. Hurry.

Without hesitation, she turned right into a narrow path between trees.

The path was darker and harder to see.

Branches scratched against her arms as she ran.

Behind her, Ryan's footsteps grew louder.

"You can't escape forever," he said calmly.

Lena's legs felt weaker with every step.

But the messages kept guiding her.

Another vibration.

The bridge is ahead.

Her heart dropped.

The bridge.

The place where she had died before.

Rain began to fall suddenly from the dark sky.

Just like the memory.

Her breathing became uneven.

The same night.

The same place.

Was history repeating itself?

She reached the bridge and stopped for a second.

The river below roared in the darkness.

Cold wind blew across the empty road.

Footsteps approached behind her.

Ryan walked slowly onto the bridge.

His face looked calm.

Almost relaxed.

"Funny, isn't it?" he said.

"Everything is happening exactly the same way."

Lena stepped back slowly.

"Stay away from me."

Ryan laughed softly.

"You said the same thing last time."

The rain grew heavier.

Ryan took another step forward.

"You know… I really hoped you wouldn't remember."

Lena's hands trembled.

"Why did you do it?"

Ryan tilted his head slightly.

"Because you were about to destroy everything."

Lightning flashed across the sky.

For a moment, his face looked darker.

More dangerous.

"You should have just minded your own business."

Lena looked behind her.

The river waited below.

The same river that had taken her life before.

Ryan walked closer.

"This time," he said quietly,

"let's finish this."

Her phone vibrated one more time.

Lena looked at the screen.

The final message from her future self appeared.

This is the moment. Change the ending.
