Chapter 20 - Braking the Timeline

The tall stranger stopped only a few steps away from Lena and Daniel.

The station lights reflected in his cold eyes.

Everything around them seemed to slow down.

Passengers continued walking, talking, and moving as if nothing unusual was happening.

But Lena could feel it.

Something strange filled the air.

Daniel whispered, "What happens if we refuse them?"

Lena's phone vibrated again.

DING.

A new message appeared from the strangers.

"If correction is refused…"

Another message followed.

"…forced correction will begin."

Daniel swallowed nervously.

"That doesn't sound good."

The tall stranger raised his hand slowly.

And suddenly—

Something impossible happened.

Everyone in the station froze.

A man carrying a suitcase stopped mid-step.

A woman's scarf stopped moving in the air.

Even the train lights stopped flickering.

Time itself had paused.

Daniel's eyes widened.

"What… just happened?"

The tall stranger spoke for the first time.

His voice was calm and emotionless.

"You have disrupted the timeline twice."

Lena stared at him.

"You mean we saved lives."

He didn't react.

"To preserve order, your deaths must now occur."

Daniel shook his head.

"This is insane."

The stranger looked at Lena.

"You were scheduled to die on the bridge."

He turned toward Daniel.

"You were scheduled to die at 10:45 PM."

Then he looked back at both of them.

"The timeline must return to its original state."

Lena clenched her fists.

"So you're going to kill us."

The stranger replied calmly.

"We will simply allow your deaths to occur."

Lena's phone vibrated again.

A message from her future self appeared.

"Listen carefully."

Another message followed.

"They control time around them."

Her breathing slowed as she read the next line.

"But they cannot control time inside you."

Lena frowned slightly.

Daniel whispered, "What does that mean?"

The final message appeared.

"Your choices create new futures."

Lena suddenly understood.

The strangers could freeze time.

They could predict actions.

But they couldn't control free will.

The tall stranger began walking toward them again.

"Correction begins now."

The two other strangers moved to block both sides of the platform.

Daniel whispered, "They're trapping us."

Lena looked at the frozen world around them.

Then she noticed something strange.

Her phone screen flickered slightly.

A new message appeared.

But it wasn't from her future self.

It was from a different number entirely.

The message said:

"You're not the only one fighting them."

Lena's eyes widened.

Another message appeared.

"Look behind you."

Slowly—

Lena turned around.

At the far end of the frozen station platform…

Someone else was moving.

A girl.

Walking calmly through the frozen crowd.

Daniel whispered in shock,

"Wait… how is she moving?"

Lena's phone vibrated one more time.

The message explained everything.

"Because she already broke the timeline once too."
