Chapter 2 - chapter 1

Mr Humphrey, his wife and kid walled majestically into the house they recently bought after the incident that happened to Lilian and her husband.

Arthur, their little boy, tan happily into the beautiful building due to excitement

"Mum, dad, woo-hoo!" He shouted excitedly and giggled as he looked around and touched objects.

"Wow! Everything is now ours."

Hw whispered to himself and shrieked happily as he ran to stand between his parents

"Do you like it?" Heather asked her overly excited son who nodded sheepishly to her question

"It's beautiful," he commented and let his mother hold him by the hand

"Let me go and balance the agent."

Humphrey excused himself and walked away after his wife gave him a slight nod

"Mummy, which room is mine?"

Heather looked down at her son and smiled

"There are a lot, pick any that you like."

"Really?"

"Yes, baby. They are yours as well as ours."

Immediately, Arthur released his hand from her grip and ran excitedly to see every room

When he was out of sight, she walked away from there and into the kitchen to look around as she didn't have the chance when her son was around. Upon getting to the knife rack, she noticed that one knife was missing. Curious, she looked around to see if it might have fallen anywhere, hit everything was in order

"It has to be from the previous family. Maybe one of their children misplaced it."

She finally said with a sigh after giving up on the knife. Just then, she hear her son's voice

"I like this one!" A smile formed on her lips at the sound of that small voice

"Is it the biggest one?"

She asked, loud enough for him to hear her question

"Yes, mummy."

"Well then, you can have it. It's all yours."

Arthur once again shrieked happily as he ran to his bed and jumped happily on it, making the loudest noise which unknown to him triggered something in a certain five year old.

For six weeks, after the unfortunate incident that befell Emily's parents, Emily remained in the same spot, in the same position until she fell asleep without waking up. This very day, while she was still I a deep sleep, she heard a certain noise coming from a child who seemed to be having the time of his life. At first she ignored the happy noise and focused on her sleep but then it became louder and soon had company which woke her up in tears.

A mother's voice.

Emily stood up and looked at the door, vividly remembering her mother standing there for the last time in tears. She climbed higher and looked through on of the many holes but all she could see was darkness. Finally, with one last look, she gave up and walked down inside the underground room.

"Arthur, get down from there. You can play outside while I arrange your room for you, yes?"

The little boy, upon hearing his mother's voice, stopped jumping on the bed and nodded slowly and got down from the bed

"Will you arrange the room the way I like it?"

"Yes, baby. Now go on and play." And hw ran out to play.

Emily walked into the already lit room in awe and also in wonder as to why the room was lit.

"It's beautiful. Momma would've loved this."

She said, throwing the second thought to the air and carefully looked around, not wanting to touch anything bad as she didn't know what things occupied the abandoned room.

She kept walking when she set her eyes on a glass bottle filled with a blue liquid. It bubbled on its own and produced gas at the same time.

"Wow." But just as she reached to touch it, she heard the squeaking sound of a moving chair. She turned immediately to see a young beautiful lady sitting down with a kitten in her hand. Emily moved back in fear of who the woman was and how she appeared there.

"Don't touch that and don't be afraid."

The lady said and turned to face Emily with a broad smile on her face

"My name is Rena, what's yours?"

"I...I won't tell you, you're a stranger."

"You're also a stranger to me."

Emily looked at the lady for a while before lowering her head and whispered her name to herself. Rena chuckled and stood up from the chair to go to Emily.

"I heard you, Emily. Nice name."

"Who are you?"

"You're smart."

But Emily didn't respond to that, instead she looked at the blue liquid in the glass bottle.

"What's that?" "Poison."

"I wasn't going to drink it."

"No, but it would still hurt you. The glass bottle is an Illusion, but the poison is real. The original owner of this underground room and this entire house set his traps this way, and he makes them the most attractive so that intruders, when they see it and touch it, die."

Yet Emily didn't say anything as she didn't understand most of what the strange lady had said, though she wondered how the woman managed to know a lot.

And once again, the very question Emily asked Rena came back

"Who are you?" Emily asked and Rena sighed before walking away from Emily.

"I'm Rena, your guardian."

Emily's eyebrows furrowed at the strange word

"What's that?"

"A person who will be there with you in your good and bad times."

"Then where were you when those bad things happened to mummy and daddy?"

"Oh, honey," Rena began and walked over to the little girl, squatting to her height.

"Now, your parents are not my responsibility. You are."

"But my parents are my family so whatever happens to them happens to me. You're a bad guardian. Go away."

Emily said and folded her hands stubbornly and turned away from Rena. But Rena didn't move from where she was

"I'm sorry about your parents. But I couldn't do anything about it."

"Where are they?"

"They're in heaven." Rena said with a bit of hesitation.

"But then that means they won't ever be coming back."

Emily said and slowly turned to Rena

"I miss them, here is so cold and lonely."

Suddenly, a brown coat covered Emily's small body while she stared in awe

"Wow, how did you do that?"

"I'm a guardian, remember. So I can do anything, but not everything. I can't bring your parents back."

Rena said that last part when she noticed Emily's unusual smiling face. But at that statement, the girl's face became dull once again.

"The family up there are good people. If you go up there, they will accept you."

Rena explained with hope

"Why did my parents leave me?"

"Because the bad people chased them from this world."

"So, they are in another world?"

"Another kingdom."

Emily's eyes lit up at the information but dulled as soon when she remembered something

"But you said they are in heaven."

"Yes, and heaven is a kingdom."

Once again, her dull eyes brightened at that

"Where is it? Can I join them? How do I go?"

"You can only join them if you die."

Rena explained though as painful as it was to do so and Emily's shoulders drooped at the sad information. Her parents were no more that's why they went to heaven

Tears began to form I her eyes at the thought of never seeing them again, especially her mum.

"Hey, Emily, I'm here with you."

Rena tried to console the girl but the latter didn't want to be consoled

"You're not my mother. Go away."

Rena stared at the child for a while before walking away from her with hands behind her.

"After 200 decades, history is about to repeat itself."

"What are you saying?"

"In saying, little girl, that you are history and you are about to happen again."
