He couldn't help but notice the way she looked like she had just seen a ghost the moment she walked in.
She was… deathly pale.

He shook his head to clear the thought. What did it even matter to him?

She settled down into the seat hastily organized by the servant, directly across from him.
She met his gaze across the table. "So is everyone else."
"Father isn't joining us for dinner." He tilted his head. "I don't know about Friedrich."
She blinked at the mention of Friedrich…
Had they fought or something?
He signalled for the servants to begin serving the meal since it was clear to him that no one else was joining them.
As soon as the food was served, he watched her mutter a soft prayer under her breath before she began dabbing aimlessly at her food.
She barely even looked at him and her left hand kept fumbling anxiously with the napkin on the table.
