He walked around the desk and threw the drapes open, then the shutters followed suit. The room was stuffy from disuse.
Then he unbuttoned his coat and pulled Fickle out of it.
"You are to sit still and not touch anything. Do you understand me?" Then he set it down on the desk.
The creature just stared back at him with wide eyes, not daring to move even by an inch.
Theodore assumed his seat and began his work.
Not too long after he had begun, there was a knock on the door.
"Yes?"
He hadn't ordered tea, he suddenly remembered. Drinking tea with a task always seemed to make it more… undaunting.
The door opened and a woman in a green lace dress with silver petticoats underneath entered.
She stopped at the door and their eyes met.
