Chapter 12 - The Alpha’s Instinct

The afternoon sun shone over the college campus as students filled the courtyard during lunch break.

Ariana sat alone on a bench under a large tree, quietly eating the sandwich she had brought from home.

Around her, groups of students laughed and talked.

But Ariana preferred staying away from the crowd.

She was new here.

And this place still felt unfamiliar.

Just as she was about to stand up and leave, someone suddenly sat beside her.

Ariana turned her head.

It was Kayden Sawyer.

He leaned back casually on the bench like he owned the place.

Which, in a way, he did.

Ariana looked surprised.

"You again?" she asked.

Kayden smiled slightly.

"Is that how you greet people who sit next to you?"

Ariana frowned.

"Don't you have friends to sit with?"

Kayden chuckled.

"I do."

He looked at her carefully.

"But they're boring."

Ariana rolled her eyes slightly.

"I'm not here to entertain you."

Kayden laughed softly.

He liked her attitude.

Most girls tried too hard to impress him.

But Ariana didn't seem interested at all.

That made her more interesting.

Before Kayden could say anything else—

The air around them suddenly changed.

Ariana felt a cold breeze pass by.

She looked up.

Jayden Sawyer was walking toward them.

His eyes moved directly toward Kayden.

Then to Ariana.

His expression immediately turned serious.

Kayden noticed it and smirked.

"Relax, Alpha."

Jayden ignored the comment.

Instead, he looked at Ariana carefully.

His wolf reacted again.

That strange pull was still there.

Strong.

Dangerously strong.

Jayden finally spoke.

"You should stay away from my brother."

Ariana blinked.

"What?"

Kayden frowned.

"Hey."

Jayden didn't look at him.

His eyes remained on Ariana.

"People around him usually get into trouble."

Kayden scoffed.

"You're acting like I'm some kind of villain."

Jayden finally turned to him.

"You cause problems everywhere you go."

Kayden stood up slowly.

"And you act like you're perfect."

The tension between the brothers filled the air.

Ariana looked between them, confused.

She had no idea what was happening.

But one thing was clear.

Being around these two brothers…

Was going to be dangerous.
