Chapter 27 - Chapter 26:Resurrección jumping style

The emerald spark at the tip of Ulquiorra's finger did not explode into a massive beam. Instead, it released a concentrated, needle-thin spike of pure Cero that detonated directly against Beru's forehead. The impact sent the Ant King hurtling backward through the air, crashing through three thick stone pillars before skidding across the dirt of the outer forest.

Akari fell to her knees, gasping for breath. The proximity to that level of power made her lungs feel as though they were filled with ash. Before she could even thank her savior, a suffocating, putrid wave of pitch-black mana erupted from the forest where Beru had landed. The Ant King rose, his dark shell completely unmarred by the localized blast. He threw his head back and let out a shriek that did not just carry sound, it carried an evolutionary malice so potent that the weaker hunters on the cliffs immediately fell unconscious, paralyzed by pure biological terror.

Tanaka tried to raise his sword, but his arms felt like lead. Even Kei from where he stood found himself rooted to the spot as Beru vanished from sight.

The Ant King moved from its position, aiming for the easier prey it moved so fast it became a blur of midnight shadow, his claws outstretched to decapitate Akari, Kei, and Tanaka in a single, sweeping arc. He was faster than anything the system had ever registered on land.

But he was still fundamentally bound by linear movement.

Ulquiorra appeared directly in the trajectory of the strike. This time, his zanpakuto was fully drawn. The clash of the dark claws against the gray steel of the Arrancar's blade did not make a ringing sound; it produced a loud and reverberating shockwave that instantly shattered the terrain for half a mile around them. The ancient trees of the Jeju forest were uprooted and pulverized into splinters in less than a second, and the very ground beneath their feet split into a gaping ravine.

High above, the transport jet carrying the global broadcast crew caught the entire sequence. The camera feed flickered violently, struggling to lock onto the two entities moving through the shattered forest at speeds that bypassed human sight.

The anchor in the Seoul studio stared at the display in absolute silence. The global audience was watching a battle that looked less like a dungeon raid and more like the collision of two rival pantheons.

As Ulquiorra systematically deflected Beru's frenzied, multi-angled strikes with micro-movements of his blade, Grimmjow was standing over the boiling sea. He was completely dry now, his pale blue Reiatsu acting as a permanent barrier against the salt spray. His blue eyes narrowed as he noticed a bizarre, unnatural phenomenon.

The thousands of remaining aquatic ants were no longer attacking him, for some reason unknown, they were ignoring him entirely, swimming with frantic, suicidal speed toward the colossal, wounded body of the Kraken.

What followed next forced a collective gasp from every military strategist watching the global monitors.

The mountain-sized Kraken did not expand. Instead, its massive, thrashed tentacles began to fold inward, melting into its central mass as it literally consumed the incoming sea insects. The thousands of aquatic hybrids threw themselves into the beast's shifting hide, their biomass and mana being absorbed at a terrifying rate.

Seeing this, the blue haired espada's eyes widened by the weird phenomenon. "What the fuck are they doing?"

The colossal monster began to shrink. It compressed from the size of a mountain range down to a twelve-foot-tall, harrowing entity. It possessed a humanoid torso made of overlapping, obsidian plates, twelve slender, whip-like appendages protruding from its back, and a face that was nothing but a vertical slit of blinding, white mana.

The entity opened its central slit and let out a scream. The frequency was so high it did not just shatter the glass on the remaining ships; it literally unraveled the molecular structure of the surrounding water, turning the sea into a boiling plain of pure mist.

Suddenly, there was a shimmer or was that a ripple in space? It appeared right behind the new entity and from the looks and feel of it… Grimmjow's eyes widened at the stunt the newly transformed beast was trying to pull.

"This thing is trying to force open a gate," Grimmjow remarked, his voice carrying a dry, amused sarcasm that echoed over the comms. "How cute. It thinks it has permission to leave."

Before the newly evolved beast could stabilize its form, Grimmjow felt a new presence suddenly appearing on the cliffside above the forest. He looked to his left and saw Sung Jinwoo, his eyes glowing with the deep, cold blue of the Shadow Monarch's power. He took one look at the paralyzed hunters, then at Beru, who was currently locked in a high-speed deadlock with Ulquiorra.

He disappeared from where he stood and trailed behind the two moving at high speed.

"Leave the insect to me," Jinwoo said to the pale man currently fighting the ant, his voice came out flat, his twin daggers already manifesting from the shadows beneath his boots.

Ulquiorra looked back at him and dodged a swift attack from Beru. He did not argue. He simply stepped back, vanished in a flash of Sonido, and reappeared directly in front of the compressed sea entity just as it unleashed a barrage of white mana spears that could have leveled a small city.

Ulquiorra released his energy in a wild burst to cancel out the attack and the forming gate. The sea beneath rose up in a humongous BOOOOOOOM of bright white and emerald light in response to the energy attacks canceling out one another.

The escalation that followed bypassed any conventional understanding of warfare. The entity stood at the center of the devastated strait, its twelve slender appendages whipping through the air with a sound like tearing canvas, its single facial slit leaking a continuous, blinding radiance that hummed with the frequency of a dying star. It was no longer just a compressed mass of flesh and mana; it had become a localized distortion in the fabric of the world, an invasive cosmic anomaly that the natural laws of the planet were actively struggling to contain.

For the hunters who were being assaulted by the various energy pressures all around and watching from the high ridges of the island, the atmosphere became heavier. The air had tasted like salt and ozone a moment ago, but now it possessed a dry, metallic burn that made their skin itch under their armor.

Ulquiorra did not give the creature time to adjust to its newly condensed biology. He tilted his torso forward, his form instantly liquefying into a static-laced afterimage as he executed a Sonido that brought him directly into the creature's blind spot. His zanpakuto cleared its sheath with a whisper of gray steel, the blade slicing through the superheated air in a perfectly calculated trajectory aimed at the entity's central core.

But the anomaly was hyper-reactive. Three of its thin, obsidian appendages snapped backward with absolute rigidity, interlocking like the teeth of a mechanical vice to catch the edge of the Arrancar's blade just an inch before it could pierce the chest plates. The impact sucked the sound out of a fifty-meter radius, creating a localized vacuum that caused the surrounding sea mist to instantly collapse into frost.

"You possess remarkable density for a creature spawned from baseline insects," Ulquiorra remarked, his voice perfectly steady as he maintained the pressure against the interlocked limbs, his green eyes reflecting the harsh white glow of the entity's face. "However, your structural integrity relies too heavily on constant mana consumption."

The creature's facial slit widened in response to his voice, and a multi-layered circle of white mana seals manifested in the air directly between them, spinning clockwise with a frantic, high-pitched whine. It was preparing to fire a point-blank blast of concentrated radiation that would have dissolved Ulquiorra's upper torso into ash.

A sudden, sharp cackle echoed from the boiling surface of the water below, cutting through the high-frequency hum of the entity's magic.

"Did you forget about me, you oversized piece of bait?" Grimmjow's voice roared from the deep.

Grimmjow arrived from the sea in a fraction of a millisecond, his fist already glowing with a dense Bala. He struck the entity from the left forcing it to cancel its attack while Ulquiorra adjusted his stance and drove his blade from the right. The creature deflected both strikes with its slender appendages, but the resulting shockwave tore the upper atmosphere apart, clearing every cloud over the Korean peninsula within a three-mile radius.

The two brothers attacked and Ulquiorra kicked the beast so hard it created a sonic boom as it flew back faster than sound. The battle instantly migrated from the shattered coastline directly into the upper stratosphere.

The global broadcast could barely keep up. The screen showed flashes of brilliant blue and emerald green clashing against the entity's white mana in the dark violet of the edge of space.

Ulquiorra moved like a ghost, his Sonido leaving a trail of pale afterimages that bewildered the entity's multiple sensory organs. Every time the beast attempted to focus its white mana spears on the pale Arrancar, Grimmjow would drop from above like a blue meteor, his heavy kicks shattering the entity's obsidian armor and sending fragments of its condensed hide burning through the atmosphere like shooting stars.

"You are slacking," Ulquiorra remarked mid-flight, casually tilting his head to allow a supersonic mana beam to pass less than an inch from his cheek. "It's movements are five milliseconds behind the optimal path."

"I can see that brother now, let's take this up another notch shall we brother. Let's give the world a show," Grimmjow snapped back, his face twisted into a wild grin as he caught three of the entity's slender appendages with his bare hands, using the momentum to swing the entire twelve-foot beast into a downward spiral toward the planet.

The entity, sensing its imminent demise, fought back with a desperate, localized warp that made both brothers eyes to widen. The vertical slit on its face expanded, and for a brief second, the fabric of space over Jeju Island began to tear, revealing the swirling, chaotic purple of a massive, uncalibrated dungeon gate opening again. It was attempting to pull the entire region into the dimensional rift.

The sheer gravitational pull of the nascent gate caught Grimmjow off guard, a massive blast of white energy striking him squarely in the chest and hurling him down through the atmosphere. He crashed into what remained of the island's northern harbor with a force that completely obliterated the bedrock, creating a crater that instantly filled with churning magma.

From the smoke of the molten crater, Grimmjow slowly stood up. His white jacket was almost entirely gone, his chest covered in minor abrasions, but his spiritual signature was expanding at a rate that made the entire region seem to shudder.

"I am officially bored of this world's rules," Grimmjow muttered.

He drew his zanpakuto, holding it horizontally before his face and placing his hand on its flat surface. The air around him began to crackle with blue lightning, the spiritual pressure turning so dense that the magma beneath his feet froze solid from the sheer, absolute gravity of his energy.

With a mad grin he drew his nails along the flat edge creating sparks.

"Grind, Pantera," he roared.

At the exact same moment, thousands of feet above him in the dark sky, Ulquiorra sheathed his own blade halfway, his emerald eyes looking down at the entity that was still frantically trying to stabilize its gate.

"Enclose, Murcielago," Ulquiorra whispered.

The simultaneous release of both Arrancar at a hundred percent of their true capacity did not just affect Jeju Island. The planetary reverberation was so immense, so completely unprecedented, that the seismic monitors in Washington D.C. began to wail. In the United States, Christopher Reed and Thomas Andre both stood up from their respective quarters, their heads snapping toward the East with a sense of instinctual, primal dread. They could feel a weight in the air from across the Atlantic Ocean, a sudden thickening of the atmosphere that made it difficult to breathe.

The transformation was absolute.

Grimmjow emerged from the dust in his Resurreccion form, his white, armored skin, jagged teeth, and long panther tail radiating a savage, predatory elegance. Above him, the sky turned entirely black as Ulquiorra's release manifested a literal rain of spiritual energy that covered fifty miles, his massive, black bat-like wings stretching across the sky, his long robe moving softly as the wind brushed against the fabric."

The world watched in a state of catatonic shock. The two figures were no longer recognizable as the human hunters the Japanese Association had registered. They looked more like beast transformers and yet for some reason they couldn't quite believe that all this two were.

The entity did not even have the time to register fear.

Grimmjow vanished. There was no sound of movement, no displacement of air. He simply appeared directly behind the beast, his elongated claws tearing through its core with a five-fold Desgarron that sliced the entity into neat, glowing sections. Before the pieces could regenerate and full itself back together and adapt, Ulquiorra extended his hand downward.

A single, massive column of pitch-black energy with an emerald outline descended from his fingertips.

"Cero Oscuras."

The black beam completely swallowed the body pieces that had somehow started to reattach itself and it completely erased the nascent gate, the residual white mana, and the entire northern half of Jeju Island, converting the rock and soil into a microscopic powder that vanished into the ocean breeze. The sea itself was driven back for five miles, creating a temporary, circular desert on the ocean floor before the tide could even attempt to return.

The silence that followed was total.

The global audience stared at screens that showed nothing but a clear, cloudless sky and a perfectly calm sea where a monstrous threat had existed only seconds prior.

From the upper atmosphere, the two brothers began their descent. They drifted down like ancient deities returning to their shrines. As they passed through the lower troposphere, the bright sun broke through the residual spiritual haze, illuminating their forms against the deep blue of the sky.

By the time their feet touched the remaining solid ground of the island's southern cliffs, the bestial armor and black wings receded, their spiritual signatures compressing back into the quiet, deceptively simple base forms they had started with. Their white jackets were gone, leaving them in their black inner shirts, their expressions completely indifferent to the absolute devastation surrounding them.

"Well, that was remarkably tedious," Grimmjow said, stretching his arms behind his head as he looked around at the pristine, erased landscape. "It was nice to be in our released form though. I've been dying to do that since we got here." Grimmjow said with a smile.

"Even though it only lasted for a minute, it's still worth it." He continued. Ulquiorra shook his head and said, " Yes, it did feel good, but our energy combined was destabilizing the spiritual structure of the world. Had we stayed in our released state for a moment longer and the lingering souls all around the world would have been destroyed."

Looking at him with a sour expression, Grimmjow shook his head, "Yeah, whatever. I hope the food at that hotel is better than the entertainment out here."

Ulquiorra did not reply. He turned his head slightly, his eyes tracking the deep, dark vibrations coming from the center of the remaining forest tunnels. The heavy, volatile aura of the Ant King had completely vanished, replaced by the clean, dominant signature of the Shadow Monarch.

"It appears the monarch has finalized his acquisition," Ulquiorra noted, his voice flat and perfectly analytical. The insect has been tamed. "Our presence here is no longer required by the narrative."

Jinwoo stepped out from the trees, his clothing slightly dusty but otherwise untouched. Behind him, a massive, towering shadow with long antennae and dark wings stood in perfect, silent submission. Jinwoo looked at the two brothers, then at the missing half of the island, his gaze lingering on the glassy, melted horizon where the sea was only now beginning to roar back into place.

"You left quite a mess," Jinwoo observed as a small, wry smile touched his lips as he adjusted his gloves.

Grimmjow let out a sharp, mocking laugh, turning his back to walk toward the waiting transport ships that were tentatively creeping back toward the shore.

"Consider it a remodeling service," the blue-haired Arrancar shouted over his shoulder. "Next time, find some monsters that actually know how to take a punch."
