Chapter 146 - Chapter 146: The Challenger Gets Put in His Place

Shane didn't stop after dropping that heavy challenge video.

He reset the camera on the empty floor, peeled off his shirt, and let the warehouse lights hit every cut and ridge of muscle. Then he dropped into a handstand like it was nothing.

One arm went behind his back.

The other stayed planted, fingers spread wide on the concrete. He tucked his thumb and pinky, leaving just three fingers gripping the floor. Veins stood out like ropes along his forearm, but his body stayed rock-solid. No shake. No give.

He lowered until his nose almost kissed the ground, then exploded back up.

Ten clean three-finger, one-arm handstand push-ups.

When he flipped back to his feet, he wasn't even breathing hard. He grabbed his phone, posted the clip as proof, and added one line: "Mouth warriors, hit this first. Then come talk shit about fake muscles."

Two hours later the notifications were a straight-up bloodbath.

Both videos were already sitting at five thousand likes and nearly two thousand shares. Shane's feed had completely buried Jack's sad little campaign. The accounts that had been screaming "roids" and "Photoshop" went quiet or got drowned out by regular people losing their minds in the comments.

A three-finger one-arm handstand push-up wasn't something you faked. Steroids or not, most guys couldn't do that even if they tried.

"Jesus Christ, one arm and three fingers? I can't even do it with two hands!"

"@ChicagoMuscleJack where's your response video, big man?"

"I sent this to my college football coach. He asked if it was Hollywood CGI."

Shane scrolled with a cold little smirk, waiting.

In a fight like this, the one who answered fastest and loudest usually kept the upper hand.

Across town at World Gym, Jack Wilson's office looked like a crime scene.

He crushed the plastic bottle in his fist until it exploded. The comments under Shane's video were tagging him nonstop, all asking the same thing: you gonna answer or what?

"Fuck!"

Jack hurled the mangled bottle at the wall. Water sprayed everywhere. He was jealous as hell and he knew it. That kind of core strength didn't come from nowhere.

He'd been one of the first guys in Chicago grinding fitness content on Facebook. Back then it worked. He got coaching clients, built a little name. But the internet moved fast. Same mirror flexes and tired motivational bullshit stopped pulling views.

Then this South Side Asian kid showed up with garbage equipment and videos that actually hit.

Jack didn't even understand Shane's marketing game, but he felt it. The kid knew how to tell a story.

What really burned Jack was the price tag.

His private sessions were a hundred and sixty an hour and people still waited. Shane was selling full programs with meal plans for ten bucks.

A kid digging equipment out of the trash was eating his lunch.

Jack stared at the handstand clip again, teeth grinding.

"Yellow monkey thinks he can come out swinging like that?"

He slammed his hands on the keyboard and fired back.

"Street circus tricks. Real strength gets proven on real equipment. You got the balls to come to World Gym? We've got competition-grade shit here. Stop hiding in that freezing South Side warehouse playing pretend."

The replies came fast and ugly. Shane's three-finger video had already flipped the crowd. Most people weren't riding with Jack anymore.

Shane answered like he'd been waiting for it.

"So you're admitting this body is real? Good. And let's get one thing straight—you're the challenger. Challengers don't get to pick the venue. What's wrong, scared the South Side rust is gonna stain your yoga pants?"

The post lit up instantly. Likes climbing, comments piling on.

Jack's reply came back even faster, clearly rattled.

"Fuck you. Saturday, two p.m. I'll come to your shitty warehouse and expose you. But we're doing real lifts. No more circus shit."

Shane's eyes sharpened. Jack was walking right into the script.

"Fine. We'll do the big three. Let's see what real talent and real strength look like."

Jack tried to sound tough.

"Deal. And bring a real Olympic bar. I'll bring my own if you can't afford one."

Shane didn't argue. He just raised the stakes.

"Perfect. Loser pins a post on every account for a full month—face and all—saying their real name and admitting they're a lying, jealous pussy. Everything they've got is fake. They're just a bitch in yoga pants."

"You got the balls for that?"

The comments went nuclear. People were straight-up begging Jack to take the bet. Backing out now would kill whatever reputation he had left.

Jack sat there sweating in December air. He was cornered.

He told himself Shane had to be juicing. No way a South Side kid had that kind of genetics. He'd been grinding the big three for years. His frame was bigger. He could win this.

And if he did win… two hundred an hour sessions, more clients, and an easy pipeline for the good shit.

Jack turned to his training partner on the couch.

"Go call Old Mac. Tell him I need the strong stuff—the same batch that almost put Adam in the ICU. I want the bar to feel light. Move."

His guy nodded and stepped out with his phone.

Jack wiped his face, took a breath, and finally answered.

"See you Saturday, pussy."

Shane typed back without hesitation.

"Bring your piss cup. And wear the pink yoga pants. They'll make your pasty ass look less pathetic on camera."
