Chapter 67 - 67

67: Chapter 67 Nami! The Thief Who Steals from PiratesLuffy then realized what was happening and pointed at her, "Ah!You're that.who was it again?"

"Pfft!"

Nami couldn't help but laugh. She lightly jumped down from the railing, landing on the ground not far from Luffy, and introduced herself confidently:

"I'm a thief who specifically targets pirates! My name is Nami!"

She tilted her head, her short orange hair looking playful and lively. She leaned closer, her upper body slightly forward, a seductive smile on her face, and her voice became more enthusiastic:

"Hey!Want to team up with me?I think you're pretty skilled. If we join forces, we can definitely take down the Buggy Pirates."

As Luffy looked at Nami's shrewd face, which was so close to his and filled with calculation, the image of her pushing him out to take the hit without hesitation and then running away flashed through his mind.

He barely hesitated before saying directly, "No."

He didn't even bother to explain; after saying that, he simply turned around and started to leave.

He has no interest in guys who are too calculating and dishonest.

"Huh?"

Nami's smile froze instantly."Wait.wait a minute!"

She never expected the other party to refuse so decisively, without even giving her a chance to bargain!

She hurriedly chased after him, blocking Luffy's path: "Wait a minute!Don't walk so fast!Cooperating will be good for you too!The Buggy Pirates are very rich!We can."

Just then—"Gurgle gurgle gurgle—!"

A sound louder, longer, and filled with hunger protest than ever before erupted from Luffy's stomach like muffled thunder!

The sound was so loud that even Nami was startled.

Luffy froze instantly, clutching his rumbling stomach with both hands, his face contorted in pain as he bent over, his voice trembling with a weak sob:

"Oh.I remember now.my stomach.I'm so hungry.I'm too hungry to walk."

Seeing Luffy, who had just been so imposing as he defeated three pirates, now lying on the ground like a stranded salted fish, clutching his stomach and only able to wail about being "so hungry," Nami's lips twitched involuntarily.

But soon, her big, cunning eyes, like a cat's, darted around, and an idea flashed through her mind.

She placed her hands on her hips, looked down at the seemingly dazed Luffy on the ground, and a bright, calculating smile returned to her face as she said in a sweet voice:

"Um.if I said I'd treat you to dinner.would that be okay?"

"Whoosh—!"

Luffy, who had just been slumped on the ground as if he was about to starve to death, suddenly sprang up from the ground as if he had a spring in his body!

His eyes shone with a light comparable to the sun, and he raised his hands high, cheering excitedly:

"Really?That's great!"

The speed at which his expression changed and the pure longing in his eyes startled Nami again, and she inexplicably felt that this guy was.kind of adorably silly?

Led by Nami, the two wandered around and arrived at a house on the edge of town that looked fairly intact.

"This is it."

Nami looked around warily to make sure no one was there, and then, to Luffy's astonishment, she crouched down, pulled out a thin wire from somewhere, and fiddled with the door lock a few times.

With a soft click, the door lock opened!

"Come in!" Nami pushed open the door, as if she were entering her own home.

Luffy followed curiously inside.

The interior was simply furnished and covered with a thin layer of dust, indicating that the owner had been away for some time.

Nami walked into the kitchen with practiced ease and opened the cupboard—inside were quite a few well-sealed breads, hams, canned goods, and some fruits and vegetables that could be stored for a long time!

"Wow—!Food!" Luffy's eyes almost turned into the shape of food.

Nami quickly took out the food and soon laid out a simple but filling meal on the table:

"Here, eat up!It's on me!"

"I'm starting to eat—!"

Luffy cheered and pounced on the table like a hungry tiger, grabbing the food and wolfing it down!

Watching Luffy eat at a whirlwind speed, Nami shook her head speechlessly, took a piece of bread herself, sat at the corner of the table, and ate it in small bites.

Her gaze kept glancing at Luffy, as if she were assessing something.

Luffy swallowed a large piece of ham with great effort, patting his belly contentedly: "Phew—!I'm finally back to life!Delicious!"

He grabbed a piece of bread, stuffing it into his mouth as he looked at Nami and mumbled, "Hey, Nami, do you live in this house alone?"

Nami paused slightly, her gaze sweeping over the empty, somewhat desolate room, a subtle, complex emotion flickering deep within her eyes.

She waved the bread in her hand and said casually, "No, I'm not from this town."

She paused, then stated in a cold tone, "The people in this town.all ran away a long time ago because they were afraid of Bucky the Clown."

"oh!"

Luffy suddenly realized something, then pointed to the table full of food with an "I get it" expression, "So we're.breaking and entering?"

"How rude of you!"

Nami immediately glared at Luffy like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, raising her voice to emphasize, "I'm a thief who specifically targets pirates!Don't compare me to a lowly burglar!"

She seemed to have a strange insistence and pride in her "profession".

"Hmm."

Luffy chewed hard on his food, puffing out his cheeks as he mumbled, "But a thief is a thief, right?Stealing from pirates.isn't that still stealing?" His logic was simple and direct.

Nami was taken aback by Luffy's blunt words and didn't know how to refute them for a moment.

She turned her head away, avoiding Luffy's.His gaze, clear enough to see through everything, fell on the dilapidated streets outside the window. His voice deepened, carrying an undeniable resolve:

"My goal.is to earn 100 million Berries no matter what."

This statement seems to be both an answer to Luffy and a reaffirmation of his own words.

Her fingers tightened unconsciously, as if that astonishing number was right in front of her, within reach yet unattainable.

One hundred million Berries?

Luffy stopped wolfing down his food, puffed out his cheeks, and stared wide-eyed in confusion, as if he had heard a word he couldn't understand, "What are you going to do with all that money?Buy lots and lots of meat?"

Nami's smug expression vanished instantly, replaced by a look of wariness and seriousness.

She carefully placed the scroll she was clutching close to her body, as if it were a treasure more precious than her own life.
