Chapter 23 - I’d steal you the moon, and the sun, and the stars, everyone

"Yeah~ same to you."

Today school went on just like usual. The cafeteria was always crowded during lunch break. A young, pretty woman worker managed to serve the students quickly, and even played along with the flirty remarks from the boys.

"Miss Reva, do you have a boyfriend? If not, how about a date with me later~"

"Hey, I was the one who wanted to ask her out first."

"Give me your number, miss—"

Reva just chuckled seeing some boys always teasing and flirting with her. But as usual, she would indulge herself in that kind of playful response. Of course, she was never really serious about what she said.

Throughout the minutes of handling students getting their lunch, one person Reva was waiting for never showed up. Kai, for some reason, was nowhere to be seen.

Reva sat down after serving the last student in line, and kept scanning the sea of students sitting and chatting with each other. But among them, only a few caught her attention.

Chloe, as usual, was a pretty boring cute girl. She was still hanging out with those leeches. Seems like Kai really made a good choice starting to befriend this girl.

But making her the vice president of student council seemed a bit out of line.

Looking to the left, Reva's eyes landed on Daisy and Caleb. Those two seemed to be opening up a bit to each other. Reva didn't really understand what Kai was doing, but she was quite impressed at how this guy could exceed her expectations.

Just as expected from Mimi's older brother, Hehe, Glad I am choosing him that day.

However, such fast progress probably wasn't good. The smile on Risa's face vanished instantly when she saw Lily.

Now it's gotten to this stage. What are you gonna do about it?

Reva sighed. In life, there will always be bad possibilities. Not everything goes smoothly.

In the end, on that day, Kai didn't come to the school cafeteria, and even until school was over, Reva didn't run into Kai even once.

Reva went home, walking along the sunny road. Unlike yesterday which was gloomy all day, the afternoon sun was really beautiful, especially since Miami was a pretty city.

Entering the modest house where Reva lived, she already smelled the nice aroma of cooking. As usual, that kid was always quick.

Walking into the kitchen, Reva saw the food already laid out on the dining table. A teenage boy took off his apron when he saw Reva enter.

"Home already?"

"Yeah, today went by really fast." Reva walked over and sat down at the dining table. "You cooked quite a lot today."

"Yeah, I guess the portions I made are a bit much."

The teenage boy sat across from Reva, his eyes fixed on Reva who was chewing the food he had made. Reva, too, kept looking into this boy's eyes.

"What's with that long face," Reva reached out her hand, moving closer to touch the teenage boy's cheek, then stroked his cheek with a sweet smile.

"I understand, I totally understand after all, you know, love is enough to begin with."

Reva rose from her chair, walked around the table, and stopped right behind the teenage boy who had been sitting across from her.

Reva bent down and from behind she draped her arms around the boy, her hands stopping on his chest with her head beside his. Reva kissed his cheek before whispering to the boy.

"Hey, I love you. It's too amazing. I don't want to give it up."

Reva hugged him quite tightly from behind. Her eyes closed as she shared her warmth. The boy could feel the softness of Reva's chest, but he stayed silent, listening to the sweet things coming out of Reva's mouth.

"Hey, if it isn't 'me', who were you gonna choose?" Reva's eyes opened again, half-lidded. The sweet smile that was always on her expression changed into a small grin.

"You know. This is all just a parable, a 'what if' scenario. Those which interfere, one by one, let's make a toy out of them."

"..."

Seeing the boy just stay silent and not respond, Reva moved her palm to cover the boy's eyes.

"You're not gonna answer, are you? You sure are disgusting."

Reva chuckled in the silent house, then let go of her hands and stepped back to walk around again to her chair to continue eating.

"Let's fall in love, and then do everything in its correct order. But in any case, we're just gonna let love consume us, hurt each other, and then say goodbye, aren't we?"

Reva chewed her food while still looking at the sharp gaze the teenage boy was giving her. She found it funny, watching this boy who had been silent all this time.

"I yearned so much for that feeling of that type of 'correctness,' to the point that it breaks 'me' down, so next time, I'll just continue hiding my true desires. So in this case, let's all go down that distorted route."

"..."

"Silent treatment again huh, okay then, I'll be in my room, thanks for the meal. Don't forget to eating also..."

Reva then rose from her chair, leaving the boy who was still sitting silently. Before leaving the kitchen, Reva looked back over her shoulder at the boy.

"I told you to be jealous, didn't I?"

After saying that, Reva walked off to her room. There was nothing special about Reva's room. It tended to be empty. Just a desk, a bed, and a wardrobe.

Reva sat at her desk, taking something from the drawer that contained many flower shoe pins. She picked up the Lily and Daisy pins, looked at them with a smile, then put them down and took another pin.

A Carnation flower pin.

"Kai." One name escaped Reva's lips as she held the Carnation pin up. With her sweet smile back, she chuckled softly.

"I guess welcome to 'Neverland,' hehehe. As the 'Tinker Bell,' I'll enjoy watching you grow for now. Give me more and maybe... I'll rewarding you a things~"
