The roar of the crowd rolled through the stadium like thunder that refused to fade.
Lightsticks waved wildly in every direction, thousands of glowing colors rising and falling like a restless ocean. The members of Eclipse stood beneath the blazing stage lights, their chests rising and falling as they caught their breath after the explosive performance.
Taeyong lowered his microphone slightly, his lips curling into a confident smile as he looked out at the sea of fans.
"So…" he said, his voice echoing through the massive speakers, "did you miss us?"
The answer came instantly.
A deafening wave of screams crashed through the stadium.
"YESSSSS!"
"We missed you!"
"TAEYONG I LOVE YOU!"
The members laughed softly among themselves as the noise continued to shake the arena. Seoyeon stepped forward, brushing a hand through his slightly damp hair as he looked out across the crowd.
"It's been three years," he said warmly. "Three years since we stood on a stage like this and heard all of you cheering for us."
The crowd screamed even louder.
Down in the audience, Eunha clutched Chaeyoung's arm so tightly she nearly cut off her circulation.
"Did you hear that?" Eunha shrieked. "HE SAID THREE YEARS!"
"I KNOW!" Chaeyoung laughed breathlessly, her eyes shining as she looked up at the stage.
Hyunwoo stood beside them, arms folded, trying to act calm—but even he couldn't hide the small grin tugging at his lips.
Back on stage, Taeyong gestured toward the fans.
"And yet… you're still here."
His voice softened slightly.
"Waiting for us."
The stadium erupted again.
Another member leaned toward his microphone.
"We promised we would come back," he said, his voice carrying easily through the speakers. "And tonight… we're finally keeping that promise."
The lights dimmed slightly, leaving the members standing beneath a softer glow.
For a moment, everything felt strangely intimate despite the enormous crowd.
Then—
The giant screens behind them flickered to life.
A dramatic instrumental track began to play, deeper and darker than the song before.
Taeyong smiled slowly.
"Are you ready for the next stage?"
The crowd screamed again.
But this time the energy felt different. Sharper. More intense. The members of Eclipse moved into position once more, their expressions shifting as the mood of the performance changed.
The performance had finally ended, leaving a trail of adrenaline and electricity lingering in the air long after the final note faded. Chaeyoung, Eunha, and Hyunwoo stepped out into the cool night, the distant hum of the stadium still vibrating faintly under their feet.
"This… this is a performance I'll never forget," Eunha breathed, her eyes sparkling, her voice shaking slightly with awe. "I'm literally going to tell my kids about this someday. Every single detail."
Hyunwoo snorted beside her, trying to sound casual. "Yeah… by then, you'll be a granny with wrinkles, and Kai will probably still look like a god on stage."
Eunha shoved him playfully, a mix of embarrassment and excitement in her laugh. "I swear… I think our eyes met. Just for a split second! His eyes, Chaeyoung… they're so captivating, I could've died right there."
Hyunwoo rolled his eyes. "Looked at you? From that distance? Don't ruin this moment with your delusions."
Eunha grabbed him by the collar, shaking him lightly. "Do not ruin this perfect moment for me, Hyunwoo. Not now."
Chaeyoung walked quietly for a moment, watching the city lights reflect on the wet pavement. Her voice was soft, thoughtful. "Don't you think… it felt different without Minjae there? They probably aren't used to performing without him. This… this was their first real stage together since he… since he passed."
Eunha's arms stretched around Chaeyoung in a light embrace, trying to lift the mood. "Hey, if Minjae were here… what do you think he'd say?"
Chaeyoung's eyes shimmered in the streetlight. "'Why think of me when you could dream about me'" she said, and Eunha burst out laughing in perfect sync.
"Exactly," Eunha added, grinning mischievously. "Trust me—he wouldn't want you feeling down like this. Cheer for the remaining members. They need us now more than ever."
Chaeyoung nodded, a small, bittersweet smile curling her lips as they continued down the quiet city streets, the echoes of the concert still alive in their ears.
Meanwhile, in the greenroom of Eclipse, the atmosphere was tense in a completely different way. The air smelled faintly of sweat, perfume, and lingering stage pyrotechnics. The members had just returned from the stage, their breaths heavy, clothes damp from exertion, hearts still racing with adrenaline.
Their manager hurried in, his expression a mix of urgency and exhaustion. "Alright, guys. Big news—interview with Park Jinwon tomorrow. So rest up tonight, stay sharp, and don't let your focus slip," he said, pressing a hand to his earpiece. "Yes, yes, I'll be there." And with that, he was gone, leaving a heavy silence behind.
Seoyeon stretched, rolling his shoulders and letting out a low whistle. "Man… it feels good to finally be back on stage. Feels like we never left."
Jisoo leaned casually against the counter, smirking. "I mostly heard people screaming my name in the crowd… looks like someone's gaining popularity."
"Oh, really?" Seoyeon shot back teasingly, "probably because you went live before the show, cheater."
Taeyong chuckled softly before his gaze shifted to Kai, who had been unusually quiet since leaving the stage. "Hey… Kai, you alright?" he asked, stepping closer.
Seoyeon and Jisoo immediately fell silent, their attention snapping to Kai. The air around him seemed to thicken. Kai didn't answer at first, his dark eyes fixed somewhere beyond the greenroom wall. After a long moment, he finally murmured, "I'm fine."
Taeyong's smile softened. "You were incredible out there. It's like the break never happened—"
But before he could finish, Kai abruptly stood up. "I'm going out for some air," he said, his voice low, controlled, but carrying a sharp edge that made the others freeze.
"Taeyong isn't done talking," Seoyeon said, stepping forward as he grabbed Kai's hand, his voice calm but edged with challenge.
Kai yanked his hand free, his eyes darkening, jaw tight, and said nothing. He started walking toward the door, the tension in the room practically crackling.
Seoyeon moved swiftly in front of him, blocking his path, eyes narrowing. "Hey—I'm talking to you!"
Seoyeon leaned in closer, his smirk sharp, almost predatory. "You think you're untouchable? Just because you stepped into Minjae's shoes?"
Jisoo's hand instinctively went to the door lock, a flicker of worry crossing his face.
Kai's fingers shot up, gripping Seoyeon's collar with lethal precision. "What the hell do you know?!" His voice was low, dangerous, like ice cracking under pressure, and the room seemed to shrink around the two of them.
Seoyeon smirked, leaning in slightly, his tone teasing yet cutting. "What, now that I've gotten under your skin… are you going to kill me too? Like you did to Minjae?"
Kai's hand shot up, poised to strike.
"Seoyeon! Kai! That's enough we've talked about this!" Taeyong's voice rang out sharply, halting Kai mid-motion.
Kai's gaze flickered from Taeyong to Seoyeon. Slowly, deliberately, he released his grip and stepped back, walking toward the door.
Seoyeon's smirk lingered as he muttered under his breath, "You know… that bastard looked so happy today performing in Minjae's place. Can't hide that."
Jisoo instinctively moved toward the door, his hand hovering near the lock. "Seoyeon… why bring minjae up? Why now?"
Taeyong rubbed his temples, voice calm but firm. "Kai is probably just exhausted. Let him be. We have enough eyes outside—no need to escalate."
Seoyeon sank back into the sofa, still smirking, but his eyes followed Kai's retreating figure. A tension lingered in the room, heavy and dangerous—one that could erupt at any moment. The greenroom felt smaller somehow, filled with unspoken words, past grief, and a storm of emotions just waiting to break.
