The pendant shimmered brighter as Elira picked it up again.
"This must be some kind of spell artifact," she whispered nervously.
"Not exactly," the voice said.
"I am not the pendant. I am the one bound to it."
Elira's eyes widened.
"You're… trapped inside?"
"For the past three hundred years."
The voice introduced himself as Aren, a young sorcerer who had once protected Lunaria. Long ago, during a battle against dark magic, his spirit had been bound to the pendant to save his life.
But the spell had a cost.
Only someone who could hear magic itself could communicate with him.
And until Elira touched the pendant…
No one had heard him.
"You mean…" Elira whispered, "I'm the only one who can talk to you?"
"Yes," Aren said softly.
"And I believe our meeting is not an accident."
