Ten Years Earlier
Maria slowly opened her eyes.
The first thing she noticed was the ceiling fan above her.
Old.
Familiar.
Her heart suddenly raced.
She sat up quickly and looked around the room.
Her old bedroom.
The same pink curtains.
The same wooden table.
This was impossible.
Her hands trembled as she looked at herself in the mirror.
Her face looked younger.
Much younger.
Then she saw the calendar on the wall.
2015.
Maria's breathing stopped.
She whispered softly,
"I… came back."
Ten years before everything went wrong.
