Under the green rabbit's pitiful gaze, Makino finally snapped out of her daze.
"Mr. Green Rabbit, please wait just a moment!"
Even after recovering, Makino remained as gentle as ever. She smiled, lightly patted the green rabbit on the head, then turned and hurried back into the kitchen.
Although it had only been Da Hong who fought Garp last night, she had also seen Green Rabbit and Droopy sitting on the deck of Kairo's ship.
Now that all three of Kairo's companions had suddenly appeared inside her tavern, kind-hearted as she was, there was no way she would treat them differently.
Outside the kitchen, Kairo didn't immediately go in.
Instead, he looked out toward Luffy, who had just been sent flying by Da Hong's punch.
"Ahahaha…"
Having been caught completely off guard, Luffy showed no sign of anger or embarrassment.
He flipped back to his feet in one motion and laughed idiotically.
"Kairo, your companion is way too funny!"
Before the words had fully left his mouth, he stretched out one arm, grabbed the tree behind Kairo, and used his Gum-Gum powers to sling himself back over, landing steadily beside him.
Then, full of excitement, he asked:
"Can you introduce me to them?"
"Of course."
Seeing that Luffy hadn't taken the punch to heart at all, Kairo smiled faintly.
"But you need to be careful."
"They each have things you absolutely can't mess with."
"For example, Da Hong—the one who punched you just now."
"Whatever you do, don't dirty his canvas sneakers."
"If you do, you'll end up just like your grandpa, with Da Hong chasing you all over the place."
"Don't worry, hahaha! I've got something precious too!"
Luffy laughed and pointed at the straw hat on his head.
"This is the thing I treasure most. Shanks gave it to me!"
"Alright, let's go eat breakfast."
Kairo didn't waste any more words and got up to head inside.
When he entered the dining room, Droopy, with a napkin tied around his neck, had already finished eating. He sat upright at the table, steady and imposing, looking exactly like some underworld godfather.
Da Hong had also finished his bowl of ramen at whirlwind speed and was now sitting with one leg crossed over the other, reading a newspaper with great focus, completely ignoring both Kairo and Luffy.
Green Rabbit, meanwhile, was eating in an extremely cautious manner.
Every now and then he would sneak glances at Da Hong and Droopy, looking very much like a little underling terrified of disturbing two big bosses.
"Mr. Kairo, Luffy, you'll have to wait just a little longer!"
Makino, who was tidying up the table, wore the same gentle smile as always, every bit the capable and warm homemaker.
"Mr. Da Hong, Mr. Green Rabbit, and Mr. Doggy all seem to really like the food I made!"
"Thanks for your hard work."
Kairo sat down at the table and, for some reason, felt as though a wandering son had finally returned home.
Luffy, on the other hand, strode right up to Da Hong and greeted him cheerfully.
"You're Da Hong, right? I'm Monkey D. Luffy. Nice to meet you!"
Hearing that, Da Hong lowered the newspaper and gave Luffy a look normally reserved for idiots.
After a few silent seconds, he withdrew his gaze and went right back to reading.
"…Huh?"
Luffy blinked in confusion. He clearly hadn't expected such a cold response.
Then he turned toward Droopy.
"Hello there, Mr. Doggy. I'm—"
Before he could finish, Droopy simply hopped down from his chair and walked away without even looking back.
Having his warmth rejected again didn't embarrass Luffy in the slightest. He immediately shifted his attention to Green Rabbit and tried again.
"Hi there, Green Bunny…"
Unlike Droopy's cold aloofness and Da Hong's domineering attitude, Green Rabbit immediately looked up.
With noodles still hanging from his mouth, he nodded vigorously.
Seeing that he had finally received a response, Luffy instantly looked relieved.
Then, acting like they'd been friends for years, he plopped down right beside Green Rabbit.
At that moment, Makino came out of the kitchen carrying two steaming bowls of ramen.
Before she could even reach the table, Luffy suddenly stretched out his arm and snatched one of the bowls away.
The sudden scene nearly made Green Rabbit's eyes pop out.
Then he began staring at Luffy as if he were some kind of monster.
After a moment, he cautiously reached out and pinched Luffy's stretched arm.
When he realized the arm was really elastic, Green Rabbit's eyes widened even further in astonishment.
"Ahahaha, Green Bunny, stop pinching me!"
Luffy laughed so hard that he nearly dropped the bowl.
But Green Rabbit had no intention of stopping.
He stretched Luffy's arm out like a rubber band, then turned excitedly toward Da Hong across the table.
"Amazing!"
Da Hong's attention was finally drawn over. And when he saw Green Rabbit pulling Luffy's arm like elastic, even he—miraculously—showed a trace of surprise.
"It's fun, right? Hehehe—"
Luffy didn't mind Green Rabbit's rudeness in the slightest. He set the bowl down in front of himself and flashed his signature grin.
"After we eat, I'll take you to the mountain behind the village to play!"
Green Rabbit nodded furiously, his entire face filled with anticipation.
Seeing how harmoniously Luffy and Green Rabbit were getting along, Makino couldn't help smiling too.
She placed the other bowl of ramen in front of Kairo and said softly,
"Mr. Kairo, please enjoy."
"Thank you."
Just as Kairo picked up his chopsticks, he suddenly thought of something and asked tentatively,
"Makino, does Foosha Village sell fishing gear? After breakfast, I'd like to go fishing by the sea."
"I've got some at home," Makino replied with a smile. "If you want to go fishing, I can take you there myself."
At that, Kairo's eyes lit up.
Before transmigrating, his father had often sneaked him out to go fishing.
Of course, his father mostly took him along so he'd have a shield against his mother's anger later—but because of that, Kairo had genuinely fallen in love with fishing.
You could say he was half a true fishing addict.
Unfortunately, after entering his final year of high school, neither of them had the time anymore.
And just when he finally finished his exams with good scores and was looking forward to properly enjoying that pastime again—
He had somehow, absurdly, ended up in the world of One Piece instead.
At first, he had hoped the system would erase him and maybe send him back.
But the system refused to behave according to common sense.
Not only did it fail to erase him after he ignored its missions, it had gone into self-reflection, downgraded itself from a God-Level Choice System into a freebie system, and then further evolved into a bootlicking system.
Now it called him things like "foster father" and "dad," and kept showering him with all kinds of abilities and tools for free.
Utterly ridiculous.
At this point, going back to his original world probably wasn't happening.
At least not anytime soon.
So if he couldn't return—and he had a ridiculous bootlicker system helping him out—
Then of course he should enjoy this transmigration trip properly.
He could stay in Foosha Village for a while.
Fish during the day.
Tell made-up "travel stories" at Makino's tavern in the evening.
After all, happiness was better when shared.
And whenever he grew bored, he could just move on somewhere else and try life from a new angle.
In short—
Do whatever makes him happy.
As for Da Hong, Green Rabbit, and Droopy, as long as nobody came looking for trouble and nobody touched Da Hong's canvas sneakers, the three of them naturally wouldn't go out of their way to cause chaos.
Sure enough—
This was the real correct way to enjoy transmigration.
