Chapter 78 - Bullet’s Mind Breaks… Who’s the Real Demon Here?

"Waa—!"

The moment he hit the ground, Douglas Bullet coughed up another mouthful of blood.

"How… is this possible?!"

Bullet immediately lifted his head and stared at Da Hong in disbelief.

There was no explosive Haki burst.

No flashy technique.

Just a completely ordinary punch.

Yet that single blow had sent him—in Demon Form—spitting blood.

And the worst part was…

He couldn't defend against it.

Bullet had fused the power of all three types of Haki.

His entire body was coated in Armament Haki.

Conqueror's Haki wrapped around him like armor.

And his Observation Haki was fully active.

Under those circumstances, even if Da Hong's punch somehow slipped past his Observation Haki, he should still have been able to withstand it.

But the reality was brutal.

Not only had he failed to react—

he had been blasted so hard that he vomited blood twice in a row.

Looking at the rabbit whose body had twisted into a terrifying shape—leaving only glowing golden eyes and a jagged, monstrous grin—Bullet slowly stood up.

Then he grinned savagely.

"In that case…"

"You're the real monster."

Before his sentence had even finished—

Da Hong suddenly accelerated.

His figure blurred.

In the blink of an eye he appeared right in front of Bullet.

The next moment, his fist shot out again in the same brutally simple way.

BOOM!

The explosive impact echoed through Eternal Hell.

Bullet, who had just been about to activate his Devil Fruit ability, was smashed flat against the Seastone prison wall like a poster.

A wave of weakness instantly washed through his body.

Realizing Da Hong was giving him absolutely no chance to fight back, Bullet forced the blood rising in his throat back down and shouted angrily,

"Give me a second, will you—HEY HEY HEY—HERE IT COMES AGAIN?!"

"Red Rabbit, you—"

BOOM!

Another explosion rang out.

This time Bullet wasn't sent flying.

Because Da Hong had already grabbed him again.

Hoisting him high into the air—

he smashed him straight into the ground.

Then he kept going.

Left.

Right.

Up.

Down.

The rhythm was terrifying.

Each impact echoed through Eternal Hell like a drumbeat.

Gradually, Bullet's Demon Form faded away, and his body returned to normal.

His eyes rolled back.

His limbs went limp.

He simply dangled there as Da Hong continued to lift him high and smash him down again.

At this moment, Bullet's entire worldview had collapsed.

He was the Demon Heir.

A man feared across the seas.

And now—

he had been reduced to a toy being casually swung around by a rabbit.

Impel Down Prison Ward

Lying in a hospital bed, his entire body wrapped in bandages, Shiryu watched the scene through a Den Den Mushi screen.

Even the normally cold and stoic man couldn't stop his mouth from twitching.

The cigar nearly fell out of his mouth.

This… feels good.

He felt completely relieved.

When he himself had been smashed around like that earlier, his mind had almost broken.

After all, he had never imagined he would one day be defeated in such a humiliating way.

But now?

Seeing Bullet, the monster he himself had always been wary of, being beaten even worse—

Shiryu felt perfectly balanced again.

Warden's Office

When Magellan had first seen Bullet trick Da Hong into breaking his shackles, he had been genuinely worried.

After all, Bullet had once challenged the entire Marine force alone.

If he escaped, the consequences would be catastrophic.

But thankfully…

Da Hong treated everyone equally.

Bullet was now being smashed around exactly the same way.

Watching Bullet's eyes roll back as he was slammed into the ground again and again, Magellan suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

Fortunately, when he rushed toward Level 6 earlier, he had the foresight to notify Domino first.

Otherwise, he probably would have ended up enjoying the same "treatment" as Shiryu and Bullet.

Eternal Hell

The rhythmic explosions continued.

Bullet now hung limply like a giant noodle in Da Hong's hand.

His face was blank with despair.

(The scene looked exactly like the Hulk smashing Loki.)

Eventually, several prisoners who had been knocked unconscious earlier began to wake up.

Among them were Catarina Devon and Avalo Pizarro.

Although they had been knocked out by Bullet's Conqueror's Haki earlier, they were still powerful pirates in their own right. With the constant explosions echoing through Eternal Hell, it was impossible to stay unconscious.

"What the hell is going on?"

"That's… Bullet getting smashed by the Red Rabbit?!"

"Has Bullet lost his mind?! He actually provoked the rabbit? Did he seriously think he could beat him?!"

"Bullet does have the strength to challenge him… but this is Eternal Hell! Everything here is made of Seastone! Even without his shackles, he can't fight at full power!"

"Hey! Bullet! What were you thinking?! The Red Rabbit helped break your chains—why didn't you just escape instead of fighting him?!"

More and more prisoners woke up.

And as they watched Bullet getting repeatedly slammed into the ground—

many of them couldn't bear to look.

Some even started shouting advice.

"Bullet! Stop pretending to be dead! Hurry up and find a way out! Go bring Lord Kirenenko some magazines or carrots!"

"Go ask Magellan for help! He must know how to calm him down!"

"Magellan! We know you're watching! Hurry up and stop this! If this keeps going, Bullet's going to get ripped apart!"

Hearing the endless voices around him—

Bullet completely gave up.

Even if he escaped now…

what would be the point?

Everyone had already seen him getting smashed around by a rabbit.

Even if he made it out alive, he'd be laughed at forever.

Better to just end it here.

"Red Rabbit…"

"Just finish me."

"I'm tired. Destroy everything already."

For the first time in his life, Bullet's heart was calm like still water.

For twenty years he had trained relentlessly, believing that once he escaped, he would surpass Roger and become the strongest Pirate King.

And yet before he could even leave prison—

he had already been destroyed by a rabbit.

Strangely enough, Bullet's sudden words made Da Hong pause.

The rabbit actually stopped swinging him.

Then, without hesitation—

he slammed Bullet down onto the ground one last time.

BOOM!

The moment his body hit the floor, blood gushed out of Bullet's mouth like a fountain.

His lifeless eyes stared at the ceiling.

His face was filled with despair.

No matter how he thought about it—

he could not understand one thing.

Why couldn't he predict Da Hong's attack?

Why couldn't he defend against it?

Da Hong used no techniques.

No named attacks.

Every strike was just a simple punch.

And yet each punch hurt so much it felt like his lungs were collapsing.

If Da Hong had kept punching him directly instead of smashing him into the ground…

he would probably already be dead.
