Chapter 52 - The Queen's First Move

Morning didn't feel like morning anymore.

There was no softness.

No calm.

Only purpose.

Sophia stood at the center of Luciano's war room.

Not watching.

Leading.

The large screen in front of her displayed multiple locations—

Routes.

Warehouses.

Safe houses.

All connected.

All vulnerable.

Luciano leaned against the table behind her.

Silent.

Watching.

Not interfering.

Her father stood across the room.

Arms folded.

Observing.

Testing.

Sophia ignored both of them.

Because this—

Wasn't about proving anything.

It was about survival.

"They're adapting," she said.

Her voice was calm.

Steady.

"They hit our supply lines, planted someone inside, and tested our response time."

Luciano nodded slightly.

"They're measuring us."

Sophia turned toward the screen.

"Then we stop reacting."

A pause.

"We make them react to us."

Her father's gaze sharpened.

"Go on."

Sophia zoomed in on a location.

A high-level communication hub.

"They're coordinating through this."

Luciano frowned slightly.

"That's not confirmed."

Sophia nodded.

"I know."

A pause.

"But it fits their pattern."

She turned slightly.

"They don't operate randomly."

"They control from the center."

Her father spoke quietly.

"And if you're wrong?"

Sophia met his gaze.

"Then we lose a building."

A beat.

"But if I'm right—"

Her voice dropped slightly.

"We blind them."

Silence.

Luciano pushed off the table.

"You're suggesting a direct strike."

"I'm suggesting we cut off their eyes," she corrected.

A pause.

"And we do it in a way they won't expect."

Luciano studied her.

"How?"

Sophia's lips curved slightly.

"We don't send our main forces."

Her father tilted his head.

"Explain."

"We send a decoy."

A pause.

"They're expecting strength."

"So we show weakness."

Luciano's eyes darkened.

"And when they take the bait?"

Sophia's gaze sharpened.

"We hit from behind."

Silence filled the room.

Not doubt.

Calculation.

Luciano turned slightly.

"High risk."

Sophia nodded.

"High reward."

Her father watched her carefully.

Then—

Slowly—

He smiled.

Dangerous.

"She thinks like a ruler," he said.

Luciano didn't respond.

But something in his expression shifted.

Approval.

"Set it up," Luciano ordered.

No hesitation.

Because he trusted her.

Fully.

The operation began at night.

Quiet.

Precise.

Sophia stood in the control room.

Watching everything.

Not hidden.

Not removed.

In control.

"Decoy team in position," one of the men reported.

"Movement detected," another added.

Sophia's heart remained steady.

"They're taking it," she said quietly.

Luciano stood beside her.

Close.

Always close now.

"Wait," she added.

"Let them commit."

On the screen—

Figures moved.

Enemies advancing toward the decoy.

Exactly as planned.

"Now," Sophia said.

Luciano didn't hesitate.

"Strike."

The second team moved instantly.

Fast.

Silent.

They breached the communication hub within seconds.

Gunfire erupted—

Sharp.

Controlled.

"They're inside," a voice confirmed.

Sophia exhaled slowly.

"Hold the perimeter."

Everything was moving perfectly.

Too perfectly.

Her father stepped closer.

"You're waiting for something," he said quietly.

Sophia didn't look at him.

"They're too calm."

A pause.

"This isn't their main line."

Luciano's gaze sharpened.

"You think it's another trap."

"I think they're smarter than we're giving them credit for."

Silence.

Then—

A voice cut through the comms.

"Multiple hostiles incoming!"

Sophia's heart dropped—

But her mind didn't.

"They split again," Luciano muttered.

"No," Sophia said quickly.

"They redirected."

Her eyes moved rapidly across the screen.

"They're not defending the hub."

A pause.

"They're heading somewhere else."

Luciano's expression darkened.

"Where?"

Sophia froze.

For just a second.

Then—

Her blood ran cold.

"The mansion."

Everything moved at once.

Luciano turned instantly.

"Pull everyone back," he ordered.

"No," Sophia said sharply.

He stopped.

"If we pull back now, we lose both," she continued.

A pause.

"We hold the hub."

"And we defend the mansion."

Luciano's jaw tightened.

"That splits us again."

Sophia met his gaze.

"We don't have a choice."

Silence.

Then—

Luciano nodded.

"Do it."

Back at the mansion—

The remaining guards braced.

Weapons ready.

Waiting.

The attack came fast.

Explosive.

Not subtle.

They stormed the gates—

Forcing their way in.

Inside—

Sophia stood her ground.

Not hiding.

Not running.

Her hand rested over her stomach—

But her eyes were steady.

"I'm not leaving," she said quietly.

Her father stood beside her.

"Good," he replied.

A faint smirk touched his lips.

"Because neither am I."

Gunfire erupted.

The walls shook.

But this time—

They were ready.

Not caught off guard.

Not vulnerable.

Prepared.

Luciano returned mid-fight.

Moving through the chaos like a storm.

Precise.

Deadly.

Until he reached her.

"Sophia."

"I'm okay," she said immediately.

A pause.

"We held."

Luciano looked around.

Bodies.

Destroyed entry points.

But the mansion still stood.

They had survived.

Again.

Luciano turned to her.

"You did this."

Sophia shook her head slightly.

"We did."

Her father stepped forward.

"No," he said.

They both looked at him.

"This was your move."

A pause.

"And it worked."

Sophia exhaled slowly.

Not relief.

Realization.

She wasn't just surviving anymore.

She was leading.

And the world—

Was starting to notice.
