Because Giovanni had almost gone berserk upon hearing his daughter declare "I have a man," Ash had to hurriedly explain his relationship with Green to his godfather—and now, to some extent, his father-in-law.
Upon learning that Ash and Green were only engaged and had simply exchanged rings, Giovanni dropped the idea of settling things with a full-blown martial arts brawl.
"Hmm... since that's the case, I have nothing more to say... After all, I feel I owe Green. But Ash!" Giovanni leaned in, his face looking ferocious. "If you ever dare to mistreat Green, I will twist your head off and kick it like a ball!"
Seeing his godfather's expression, Ash knew he was dead serious. He nodded and swore, "Don't worry. Look, didn't I just go to another world to bring this troublemaker back...?"
"Hmm? Another world? Ash, tell me about this!" Hearing that his daughter had ended up in another world, Giovanni was surprised. As the Boss of Team Rocket, he knew about certain esoteric things.
"I'll tell the story!"
Although Green was surprised to learn Giovanni was her father, she wasn't childish enough to throw a tantrum and ask, "Why didn't you come save me?!" According to Giovanni, he had already annihilated the organization that kidnapped her. But since she had run away on her own earlier, they missed each other.
Since Giovanni had asked and seemed to be looking for a reason to approve of Ash, Green eagerly recounted how she had accidentally stumbled into another world, and how Ash had crossed dimensions to rescue her.
Hearing Green and Ash's story, Giovanni inhaled sharply. That alternate world was incredibly dangerous! If Ash hadn't given Green that Nidoqueen for protection, Giovanni couldn't even imagine what kind of horrors his daughter might have faced.
"A Masked Man who could forcibly control Ho-Oh? That is indeed very dangerous..."
"Yeah... if I hadn't brought my Zigzagoon, I really wouldn't have known how to deal with his Swinub..."
Thinking of that Masked Man, Ash felt mentally exhausted. He and the Masked Man had constantly schemed against each other, pulling out trick after trick. It was draining.
"You really worked hard this time, Ash..." Giovanni naturally understood how exhausting battling an opponent of that caliber was. Words felt inadequate to express his gratitude.
Ash shook his head. "It involved Green. I couldn't possibly not give it my all."
"With that said, I can finally rest easy... To think my own daughter and godson would fall for each other. Not bad, right?"
Thinking it over, Giovanni suddenly realized that Ash and Green liking each other wasn't a bad thing at all. Rather than having Green marry some guy he didn't know, it was better to let this brat Ash have her. At the very least, Giovanni knew Ash far too well.
Just as Giovanni was thinking this, Lorelei—who had helped Nurse Joy examine the ice inside Ho-Oh—walked over. "Ash, Joy family head wants you and the other doctors to join the meeting."
"Hmm? The examination is done?"
"Yes, it's mostly complete. The rest is up to you all. I'll explain the specifics of the ice to everyone shortly."
"Alright. I need to go help inside. You and Green can chat."
"Mm, go on. Leave things out here to me."
"Okay. Green, talk with your Dad. Everything's fine."
After giving Green a quick instruction, Ash patted the head of the still-rebooting Serena. "Well... the shock was too big, so she hasn't recovered yet, huh? Little Eevee, keep Serena company for a bit, okay?"
"Eee!" The little Eevee that had been resting on Ash's shoulder nodded, then jumped onto Serena's shoulder and licked her cheek.
Ash then followed Lorelei to the medical meeting.
"According to our examination, there are multiple Ice crystals embedded inside the alternate-world Ho-Oh's body. These crystals are what allowed the Masked Man Ash mentioned to control it. Simultaneously, these crystals are the root cause of Ho-Oh's ongoing coma."
Joy's family head spoke while displaying a diagram. The diagram highlighted the locations of the ice crystals inside Ho-Oh.
"So all we can do is rely on everyone here to surgically remove the crystals from Ho-Oh. Once that's done, Ho-Oh should be able to recover."
"...Operating on Ho-Oh? That's quite the challenge..." Dr. Proctor frowned at the images. After all, their expertise was in treating humans.
Ash also raised a concern. "There's another problem. As the God of Life, Ho-Oh's healing factor is incredibly fast. That means the surgery has to be performed at extreme speeds. That's going to be a major hurdle."
"Yes, exactly!"
"That's right! That's the real issue here."
Ash's point acted like opening floodgates. The doctors immediately began intense discussions on the difficulties of the surgery: how to maximize the chances of a one-time success, and what fallback measures to take if the first attempt failed.
Watching Ash passionately discuss medical procedures with the other doctors, a smile crept onto Lorelei's lips. (This is my Ash...)
While Ash and the others were debating how to increase the surgery's success rate, three uninvited guests arrived outside the Sasaki estate. Actually, it was four guests: one was hiding its presence, observing from above, while the other three quickly approached the police tape. Seeing these three, the Officer Jennys were stunned.
"What the f?!"
