Chapter 264 - Chapter 264: The Discovery

Several days passed. The space pirates dug day and night. The moon's surface was covered in craters of all sizes. Even though the moon already had plenty of craters, they still hadn't found the ruins Rhett was looking for.

Rhett stood on the deck of the Ark Maxim. The blood mist at his fingertips churned. His eyes slowly turned cold.

"These useless wastes..." He muttered under his breath, a hint of impatience in his voice.

Rhett thought about getting a new group of pirates. I may not have given you any rest time. I may not have provided three meals a day. But can't you treat the company like your own home? Can't you make digging for ruins your life's pursuit? You're just not working hard enough.

Tesoro pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses and walked to Rhett's side. "Captain, should we try a different approach? Like having Enel blast open the moon's surface? Or having Moria's zombies help dig."

Rhett's eyes lit up. "Forget Enel. The noise might damage the ruins."

"But having Moria's zombies help is a good idea." He paused, his gaze looking into the distance. "We'll give them one more day."

Just then, little Lieutenant Spaccy dragged a small wooden cart. On the cart lay three little ones of the same model. It knelt in front of Enel and begged him to charge them.

"B-Boss! Please save them!" It pointed at the three unconscious little ones.

Enel raised an eyebrow and picked his ear impatiently. "Hey, hey, what's going on here?"

"BOOM!" A bolt of lightning struck. When in doubt, strike first and think later.

"AAAAHHHH!" The lieutenant was also caught in the blast. "God Boss... I don't... AAAAAHHHH!"

Enel's mouth twitched. He stopped the electrotherapy. "...Who gave you permission to add extra words? Just 'God' is enough!"

"Yes! God Boss!" The lieutenant immediately snapped to attention and gave a crooked salute. If you ignored its afro hairstyle.

Tesoro put a hand to his forehead. "These names are getting stranger and stranger..."

The three little ones on the cart suddenly jolted and started coughing violently. One of them sat up, its hair now an afro. "Am I... am I in heaven?"

"Idiot! God Boss saved you!" The lieutenant jumped up and hugged them.

The three little ones finally got a good look at Enel. Their eyes went from confusion to wide open. They seemed to have convinced themselves. They dropped to their knees and shouted, "God Boss!!!"

Enel: "..."

Rhett: Shouldn't he be speechless? Why is he holding his head so high? Enel had changed his bad habits after joining Rhett's crew. But he still enjoyed being admired like this.

Perona floated over and poked one of the still-dizzy little ones. "Are you from the Blue Sea too?"

"We don't remem—"

The lieutenant ran up and delivered a flying kick. "God Boss, nothing! He didn't say anything!"

"I'll explain this slowly later. Or after I've walked away."

......

The atmosphere here was warm. But for the space pirates, it wasn't so beautiful.

The space pirates were exhausted. But none of them dared to stop.

Because Moria's zombies were right next to them, cracking a whip. The leader, "Big Wolf," wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He looked at the zombies in the distance and roared at his men.

"Dig deeper! If we don't find the ruins, we're all dead!"

A subordinate said, trembling, "Boss, we've been digging for days. We haven't even found a single hair..."

"Shut up!" Big Wolf kicked him. "Keep digging!"

Just then, the drilling machine let out a sharp screech of metal on metal. Then the ground began to tremble.

"B-Boss! There's something down there!" A pirate shouted.

Big Wolf's eyes lit up. He hurried over. "Quick! Clear it out!"

As the dust was pushed aside, a metal plate covered in ancient patterns was gradually revealed. The patterns glowed with a faint blue light, as if energy was flowing through them.

Lieutenant Spaccy suddenly jumped up. "Energy reaction detected! It's the ruins! It's the ruins!"

Excitement flickered in Rhett's eyes. "Finally." He waved his hand. "Everyone, gather. We're going down."

Rhett stood at the entrance to the hole, watching the pirates trembling.

He waved his hand. "I'm not someone who enjoys watching others suffer. You can go."

They had dug day and night for so many days. Even if they hadn't succeeded, they had worked hard. The main reason was that they were just too weak. You don't think about the crawfish you eat on the first day turning into Baltan. If you're afraid of everything, don't be an Emperor.

Big Wolf looked like he had been granted a reprieve. He quickly called to his men.

"Thank you, boss! Thank you, boss! We'll turn over a new leaf and be better wolves! Working for you was the happiest time of our lives! Ah, quick! Retreat!"

The group of space pirates scrambled toward their ship. The roar of the engines echoed across the moon's surface.

Rhett didn't pay them any attention. His attention was completely absorbed by the circuit board patterns. He didn't remember these being in Enel's cover story.

But just as Rhett was thinking, the moment their ship rose into the air, Big Wolf stuck his head out the window. He made sure the distance was safe enough. In his opinion, it was safe enough.

Big Wolf grinned and shouted, "So you're Rhett, huh?! You wait! We'll settle this sooner or later—"

Before he could finish, Enel had already turned into lightning and leaped into the air. Electricity crackled on his fingertips.

"Looking for death! This god hates noisy ants the most—"

"God's Judgment: Divine Punishment!"

A blinding bolt of lightning fell from the sky. A thick pillar of lightning covered the entire ship.

"BOOM—!!!"

The ship exploded into a brilliant fireball in the night sky. Debris flew everywhere.

Perona covered her mouth in surprise. "Wow~ How beautiful!"

Tesoro's mouth twitched. He looked at the pirates like they were idiots.

"What... a complete lack of survival instinct. You were already leaving. Why did you have to say that? Are you joking with your own lives? Hilarious!"

Rhett shrugged. He could kind of understand them. There was a certain enjoyment in simple trash talk.

"But this is fine. They won't be terrorizing other planets now." He turned and walked toward the entrance to the ruins. The corners of his mouth curled up. "Now, time for business. I thought this trip would be boring."

"Little ones, let's start our adventure!"

"Got it, Captain!" x7

"Titan standing by!"

At this point, someone might ask, "Hey, Rhett, why did you bring little Rati?"

Rhett: "Hehehehe. Since you've asked so sincerely. To prevent the destruction of the world. To protect the peace of the world. To uphold the cause of love and true evil... There is no safer place than beside Rhett."
