Chapter 110: The Grass Village Almost Ceased to Exist
After training, Haruko was in a good mood.
Moves that he could only brag about in his past life could now be manifested for real, satisfying his inner chuunibyou heart.
Although Kakashi teased his swordsmanship as a hodgepodge, so what? As long as he could show off, it was fine.
Haruko hummed a little tune, strolling slowly toward the Ichiraku Ramen Shop.
Before he even reached the shop entrance, he saw a large crowd gathered there.
An ominous feeling rose in his heart; Haruko took a few quick steps and squeezed into the crowd.
...
Four guys wearing Grass Village headbands were brazenly blocking the entrance.
Kaede stood expressionless in front of Teuchi, Ayame, Kin, and Tayuya, confronting those guys, her hand already placed on her hidden Ninja tool pouch.
Tayuya's face turned beet red, and she was cursing, "Let go of me! I'm going to—today—"
"No, you'll just be a nuisance if you go. Leave it to Big Sister Kaede." Kin held tightly onto Tayuya's arm.
Teuchi's eyes, usually always smiling, were curved, but devoid of any warmth now; his knuckles gripping the large soup ladle had turned white.
Ayame's face was pale, and she was clutching her father's sleeve tightly.
"I'm telling you, is this the service attitude of your Konoha shop?" The middle-aged man in the lead, sporting a buzz cut, was chewing on a toothpick with an impatient look.
"Big Brother, let it go." A young Grass Ninja behind him advised, but his tone was full of schadenfreude, "Maybe they really don't know how to do business."
"Exactly, they won't even apologize and are still putting on these sour faces." Another Grass Ninja said sarcastically.
Beside them, two Konoha Patrol Guards in green vests were trying to persuade Teuchi with difficult expressions: "Boss Teuchi, this... there's an order from above to avoid conflicts with Ninjas from other Villages as much as possible during the Chunin Exams. You see..."
"I understand, I understand." Teuchi nodded repeatedly, keeping his posture very low.
Watching this scene, the fire in Haruko's heart could no longer be suppressed.
'They're riding on our faces and spitting on us, and you're still telling us not to conflict?"
Haruko just took a step when Teuchi seemed to sense something and turned his head sharply.
Seeing Haruko's expressionless face, Teuchi's eyelid twitched, and he hurriedly walked over.
"Haruko, don't be impulsive." Teuchi pressed down on Haruko's shoulder, "Don't, it's not worth it over such a small matter."
Pulling Haruko behind him, Teuchi turned to those Grass Ninjas: "Customers, if you feel the taste isn't suitable, this meal is on me, and I'll refund the money from before..."
"Yo, now that's more like it." The buzz-cut Grass Ninja grinned, "But an apology alone isn't enough. These medical expenses, Spiritual distress compensation—"
"How much? Name your price."
"Tsk, you're sensible." The buzz-cut Grass Ninja picked his ear, "Then—"
Before he could finish, a young Grass Ninja behind him suddenly reached out, grabbed the ramen bowl on the counter—"Oops, my hand slipped..." and threw it at Teuchi.
As if a frame had been skipped, Haruko suddenly appeared in front of that young Grass Ninja, the thrown bowl caught steadily in his hand, not a single drop of soup spilled.
"Hand slipped, huh?" He smiled, "That's really too careless."
The next second, he slammed the bowl directly onto the other guy's face. Crash!
The ramen bowl shattered on the spot, and the Grass Ninja fell to the ground without even being able to let out a scream.
ramen soup dripped down the Grass Ninja's face, and his nasal bridge was visibly collapsed.
"You—!" The buzz-cut Grass Ninja widened his eyes and reached for his Ninja tool pouch.
But just as he pulled out a Kunai, he felt a chill on his neck.
No one saw how Haruko drew his blade.
By the time they regained their senses, the ninja sword was already held across the buzz-cut Grass Ninja's throat.
The blade pressed tightly against the carotid artery, and the icy touch made the hot blood that had just rushed to his head instantly cool down to his heels.
He could feel the chill coming from the blade, and also—killing intent. Pure, undisguised killing intent.
The other two Grass Ninjas subconsciously wanted to act, but Haruko just glanced at them sideways, causing them to press the pause button on their movements.
"Haruko!" Teuchi shouted hurriedly. "Don't..."
"Dad, this has nothing to do with you." Haruko didn't look back, "These guys are just here to stir up trouble to test Konoha's attitude."
The buzz-cut Grass Ninja swallowed, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead.
They were indeed here to test Konoha; if they were killed here, their Village would not only fail to avenge them, but would instead offer apologies and downplay the incident.
And the white-haired youth in front of him really dared to kill him.
"Brother, let's talk this over..." The buzz-cut Grass Ninja's voice was trembling, "We just came to eat some ramen, we didn't mean anything else..."
The Kunai slipped from his hand, making a "clang" sound.
"Oh... do you need a Kunai to eat ramen?" Haruko glanced at the Kunai on the ground, "What, you don't know how to use chopsticks?"
"Alright, Haruko." Just then, an Anbu wearing a cat mask appeared silently on the roof, "Private fights are prohibited during the Chunin Exams. Give me some face."
Haruko curled his lip, stepped back, and sheathed his sword.
"Patrol Guards, take these people away." The cat-masked Anbu said to the two in green vests, "Record this, and restrict their range of activity in Konoha."
"Yes!" The two Patrol Guards felt relieved and hurriedly stepped forward to take the group away—the one who fell asleep was carried away by others.
"Well done!"
"That's how you should deal with them!"
The crowd of onlookers burst into cheers.
"Tsk tsk tsk, if this were still the Uchiha Police Force, I wouldn't even have needed to act." Watching the figures of the Patrol Guards fade away, Haruko couldn't help but mutter.
The Anbu glanced at Haruko, his voice carrying a trace of helplessness: "Do you know the consequences of doing this?"
"I know." Haruko smiled, "Uncle Cat, next time show up earlier, okay? The Grass Village almost ceased to exist."
"..." A joke that wasn't funny at all left the Anbu silent.
"I will report this truthfully to the Hokage-sama. Let's leave it at that for this time." After saying that, he also disappeared.
The crowd gradually dispersed.
Slap.
Teuchi slapped Haruko on the head.
"You child, that was so dangerous just now." He sighed, but his eyes held a smile, "But... well done."
Ayame rushed over and hugged Haruko: "Big Brother Haruko..."
"Alright, alright, don't cry." Haruko patted her back, "Aren't they just a few clowns?"
Kaede stood to the side, watching this scene, and Haruko nodded at her.
"Big Brother, why didn't you just cut them down just now!" Tayuya, finally released by Kin, rushed over.
"Because it's not worth it." Haruko rubbed her head, "And..." A cold light flashed in his eyes.
Killing in the street is too troublesome; not only is the follow-up process very tedious, but it would also affect the shop's business.
Haruko had already noted the appearance and Chakra characteristics of those few people. It's normal for a few people to die in the Chunin Exams, right?
But before that, there was something more important—the setup of a barrier for the Ramen Shop must be put on the agenda immediately.
Just relying on this current group of Patrol Guards who only know how to smooth things over won't work.
"If there are any more flies without eyes like this next time, just turn them into fertilizer."
