Chapter 161 - 18-years-old II

SF Chapter 161: 18-years-old II

The table was still occupied by Dani, Mischa, Lexi, Prudence, Amanda, Dylan, and Haley.

"Hey," Dani commented, "I think I have a music idea!"

"Oh, great," Prudence smiled, already picking up the guitar beside her. "Sing it. I'll try to help."

Dani started to sing.

♫♪I wanna be a billionaire so fucking bad

Buy all of the things I never had ♫♪

"Isn't that a little ironic coming from the second richest person here?" Mischa pointed out.

Haley nodded. "Yeah, a little annoying."

"Shh," Lexi gestured with her hand.

Dani continued.

♫♪Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine

Smiling next to Oprah and the queen

Oh, every time I close my eyes

I see my name in shining lights, yeah

A different city every night

Oh, I, I swear the world better prepare

For when I'm a billionaire ♫♪

Dani changed the style of the song, rapping a little.

♫♪Yeah, I would have a show like Oprah

I would be the host of everyday Christmas

Give Dani a wish list

Give away a few Mercedes like: Here, lady, have this

And last but not least, grant somebody their last wish ♫♪

"Do the second part, Prudence," he asked, getting her to join in on the song.

♫♪Oh, every time I close my eyes

(What you see? What you see?)

I see my name in shining lights

(Aha, aha, and what else?)

(Oh, yeah, yeah) a different city every night

Oh, I, I swear the world better prepare (for what?)

For when I'm a billionaire

Ooh, ooh, oh, ooh

For when I'm a billionaire

Ooh, ooh, oh, ooh ♫♪

♫♪I'll be playing basketball with the President

Dunking on his delegates

Toss a couple milli in the air just for the heck of it ♫♪

♫♪.... ♫♪

[Claire and Jay commentary]

"Okay… I'm a little worried after hearing that song," Claire remarked after listening to her brother sing.

"It's just a song, Claire," Jay dismissed.

"So he's not going to become a billionaire and be completely unhinged?" she asked, turning to her dad.

Jay paused, thinking for a moment.

"He'll be fine," he said - probably to convince himself as much as his daughter.

More guests arrived, and Dani stood up.

He walked over to a blonde girl who was standing with her parents.

"Happy birthday, Dani," Hilary said, hugging him.

"Hilary, glad you came," Dani replied.

She made a slightly embarrassed gesture toward her parents. "Uh, my parents came too. They wanted to… you know-"

"Yes, don't worry," Dani nodded, stepping closer to the couple. "Nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Duff."

He started reassuring them, "You don't need to worry. There are no drugs here."

"I've only committed a few misdemeanors in my life - never got caught - and none of them had anything to do with drugs. I never used!" Dani added.

"He's just joking," Hilary said, glancing awkwardly at her parents, then shooting Dani a glare.

But Dani ignored her and went on, "You can also forbid your daughter from drinking alcohol if you want. The waiters won't serve her any."

"But I can't promise she won't find other ways to get it - like my niece Haley probably will. She's sixteen."

"Oh," he remembered something. "Your daughter is also 16. I just turned 18, I have no interest in kids! But in two years, I certainly wouldn't mind-"

"Ouch, ouch," Dani exclaimed as Hilary pinched him hard to make him stop talking.

Another blonde approached. "Hi, I'm Claire, his sister," she said, pointing at Dani.

"Don't worry about what he said," Claire added. "He's weird and likes to mess with people."

"And I also have a daughter the same age as yours."

"What's her name?" Susan Duff asked.

"Haley."

The couple exchanged a look.

"You can join us," Claire proposed, seeing that they were still unsure.

The couple went with her, while Dani returned to the table with his friend.

"A few misdemeanors?" Hilary asked dryly.

"Eh, just normal stuff," he replied. "Like when I was 16 and the girl was 23-"

She interrupted him. "Got it!"

"What did you get?" Dani raised an eyebrow.

"You got it all wrong. In the country I was in, sex between a 16-year-old and a 23-year-old was legal. The illegal part was doing it in a public place."

"Oh wait, it wasn't in a public place - it was on a Ferris wheel at an amusement park," he corrected.

"You know, you can't be a rookie to pull that off. There's all the glass, so you have to be extra careful not to be seen."

"There's the timing - You need to do most of it when it reaches the top."

He turned to her. "Oh, there's also the shaking. You can't make any sudden movements, or the whole thing starts swaying. True story!"

Hilary stared at him like he was a complete degenerate. "Why are you telling me all of this? Like it's some kind of instruction manual."

"Well, I assume you go to Disneyland a lot," he said casually. "One day you might feel the urge to do something different."

"Like hell I would do something like that," she scoffed.

He started laughing, finding her reaction amusing.

That ended up making her laugh too. "God, you're the worst friend. I don't know why I keep putting up with you…"

"What other misdemeanors have you committed?" she asked, still curious.

"Just normal teenage stuff," he began listing. "Gambling in Las Vegas. Drinking at a bar. Sneaking into a nightclub. Using a fake ID. Doing it in public places…"

"I've never done any of that…" Hilary rolled her eyes.

"I said normal teenager. Not boring, goody-two-shoes, 'oh, look, I'm sweet and innocent,'" he retorted.

She pinched him again. "No wonder girls keep hitting you."

"Hey, Hilary, you came too," Mischa said with a smile as she saw the blonde sit nearby.

Amanda raised an eyebrow, noticing Hilary expression. "You seem a little tired."

But Dani was the one who answered. "I am, thank you."

"You know, it's a little exhausting having to behave in front of your friend's parents."

Everyone made a face like they didn't believe him.

Prudence complained, "You were having fun and didn't call me."

Amanda explained to the girl, "Here's one thing I've learned, Hilary: Dani has no filter, but he's far from being dumb."

"He knows exactly what he's doing when he says something. He does it out of a mischievous spirit, or just to see other people's reactions."

"He's lucky that today is his birthday, or there would be a high probability of him being thrown into the ocean at least once," Lexi remarked flatly.

"Well, there's still after midnight," Mischa pointed out with a smirk. "Since we'll be sleeping here."

Dani made a face.

"At the end of the day, family is still family," he said, wrapping his arms around Alex.

"You're only reaping what you sow, Dani," Alex said dryly, continuing to sip her juice. She had zero interest in trying any alcohol.

"Et tu, Brutus?" he said. "Alex, I even changed your diaper when you were a baby."

"Like hell you did! You were like four or five years old."

"Besides, you don't even do that for Lily," she added.

He shot back. "Dani, Dani, Haley took my toy," he imitated a little Alex. "Dani, read one more book, please. Dani-"

Alex immediately struggled to cover his mouth.
