Chapter 11 - KANGEKAELSUS

Please remember that this is a completely amateur series.

Every event within layer 29 is different events, occurring simultaneously.

LAYER 29: MOMENT

Stellan takes a fighting stance. "I wouldn't trust you Korts, even if I knew I would die." he says. "Then you are a danger." says Abrakmat. Their battle begins. Even if Stellan attacks at the speed of light, he cannot overcome Abrakmat's defenses. Somehow, he is deflected every time. "I thought we could be friends. But you have shown disrespect to the value I wanted to protect" says Abrakmat. Stellan stops and opens his mouth to speak, but at that moment he finds Abrakmat behind him. "You're dead." says Abrakmat, raising his fist. Stellan moves away at the last moment, and the moment he tries to speak, Abrakmat reappears behind him. No matter how much he tries to avoid him, he appears behind him every moment. "What a speed!" he exclaims. Abrakmat stops and says, "I live in moments. A concept as unnecessary as speed doesn't exist for me. The only concept written in me is moments..." Stellan, without wasting time, tries to activate his seal, but his chest is split open by Abrakmat's hand. "I'm sorry. The moment the thought of activating your seal crossed your mind, you were already dead. I'm truly sorry," Abrakmat says, snatching the Tes of Light. Stellan falls to the ground, "You awful creature... Sorry, huh...!? I don't need a Kort's pity..." Abrakmat then walks away, without a single hesitation. (...)

LAYER 29: DEATH

Deregerol and Kira move far enough away from the battlefield. "I'll finish this quickly. What you Korts did to Uso is unforgivable..." Kira says seriously. "It won't end quickly, nor slowly. Everything is balanced in where i am." Deregerol replies. Enraged, Kira attacks, shouting, "I'll kill that balance too!" but each attack misses. Therefore, he decides to use his Tes. He accelerates instantly, but Deregerol retreats due to the level of will he senses. The battle continues in this manner for a while, finally ending with both sides ceasing. Or so it seems. Deregerol says, "The Seal of Balance: The Perfect Balance of the Scales of Justice." but at the same time, Kira says, "The Seal of Death: The Judgment Day for the Shinigami." Deregerol's seal darkens the surroundings, forming a circle beneath them. Even though Kira has activated his seal, he shows no change. Both wait for a long time, not even moving. Finally, they both appear and retreat simultaneously. The circles don't move. "What are you doing, Kira?" says Deregerol. Kira replies, "I'm imitating you. Do I look stupid? I am going to repeat every move you do because I don't know your powers..." Kira is imitating every movement of his. Finally, the surroundings light up, Deregerol's seal is broken. Kira leaps at Deregerol, but Deregerol dodges at the last moment. As soon as Kira's hand touches the ground, the entire planet turns to dust, the battle moves into the air. Deregerol can only evade. The result of the counterattack will be instant death. Suddenly, he relaxes and begins to speak. "You know, Kira: For my Tes to be active, I need to be informed. But don't worry, my Tes allows me to access it. Thanks to this, I've learned how your emotions work. How your mind works, how intelligent you are, how you feel right now..." Kira, though with slight hesitations, doesn't give up and thinks to himself, "Thought manipulation? It could be general manipulation...! Wait a minute... Adaptation!? Or, Learning...!" he says to himself. Deregerol continues. "My power, of course, is not limited to that... I instantly learn all the information about whatever I want to activate my power on. Everything..." (...)

LAYER 29: BALANCE

The battle is still ongoing. A while passes, and Kira starts talking to himself. "My time is almost up... How does his Tes work? Does he copy what he learns? A replica? How good knowledge can be? Is that even his power?" Deregerol, dodging every single attack, thinks to himself, "I thought his seal was about killing whatever he touched. No... It's much more than that... He killed his spiritual attack. This forced him to master his physical attack. That explains why he doesn't kill speed or strength... Because he sacrificed that power." After a while of fighting, Kira stops and says, "Help me understand this, Kort. Why are you fighting? What is the point of fighting when you are going to die one day? What is the point of fighting when you believe in balance? Wouldn't someone as informed as you, be more pacifist? Or wouldn't someone strong like you, be the lonely one? What stops you from being any other than your current state? Aren't you the most balanced? Doesn't it make you better than all? I now understand your power. Balance. You are balancing the fight, the very being, the less and most. That's how you learn everything. Because you have to know what you are balancing to balance it. That's how a manual Tes works, right...? I respect you for that. For how you handle that much energy by yourself. But the thing is... I won't lose. Seal of Death, Last Stand: The Death That Cannot Be Invaded." he suddenly appears behind Deregerol. Just as Kira is about to touch him, Deregerol talks, "Light work, Kira." says, right after using his seal for the last time. "But I am the one who won't lose..." Kira, being completely exhausted, dashes, appears behind Deregerol and says, "I won..." but before he can touch Deregerol, he freezes, voice lowers, seal disappears... "You are a lucky one, Kort. When my Seal's duration ends, as punishment for sacrificing my spiritual power, my physical power also gets taken away, leaving me to death... That's the agreement. For my Last Stand, I surpassed everything and became invincible for only a moment... But the moment you used your seal, I lost the moment my Last Stand gave me. Even when I am faster and stronger, my time was up completely... Consider yourself lucky, Kort. Now I will be judged... by my own hands." Kira and the Tes of Death slowly turns to dust, every action caused by the seal returns to its former state, and Deregerol says, "I wasn't the one who defeated you. You thought you had to choose between life and death, and you chose death. I stood in the middle and maintained my balance. As long as my mind is balanced, no one can defeat me. I wasn't lucky, you just acted reckless..." and he sets off towards Fumetsu, unable to complete his task. For the first time in his life, he is thoughtful... At that moment, a turquoise light comes from where Fumetsu is... (...)

LA(YER 29: YARSUV

After waiting for Deregerol and Abrakmat to leave, Fumetsu lunges at Pusgurt. Pusgurt, being old, doesn't dodge, instead creating a barrier of purple roots. Fumetsu's katanas hit Pusgurt's barrier and bounce back. Fumetsu loses his balance and is thrown back, regaining his balance, but Pusgurt and his energy are gone. He looks around but sees nothing. Suddenly, he senses an energy where his foot is and jumps, but a long, sharp, needle-like piece of wood enters his chest from the ground before he can react. "He's hiding his energy with a technique I've never seen before. I must be careful." he thinks to himself. He lands, breaks the wood, and pulls it out. Pusgurt reveals himself, saying, "You're fast. But not clever." Fumetsu replies, "When the future is always on my side, I don't need speed or intelligence, Wert..." Pusgurt, too, removes his robe, grows, and becomes enormous. His body takes shape; his verdant skin cracks blue, his head, long nose, and antlers resemble those of a deer, while removing the beard. He stands there, rejuvenated and vibrant. "The Law of Ground and Water, Yarsuv." he says, his voice now also rejuvenated. But Fumetsu maintains his composure, unbothered. "You look frightening, Pusgurt... I noticed your name sounded familiar. But this form... resembles a deer more than a wolf..." he says. Pusgurt, surprised, replies, "Familiar? Me? With you?" Fumetsu begins to speak. "Before I came here, when I was still an Evor, a friend's father used to tell stories. About Pusgurt and Alageyik. If I remember correctly, Pusgurt represented the sky, and Alageyik the earth... I never even considered that it could be real." he says. Pusgurt asks, "Why are you here, Kort?" Fumetsu replies, "Nothing I say will change your mind. Arm yourself..." And lunges forward. His grudge rises, and his speed increases. Pusgurt narrowly escapes and thinks to himself, "Energy can't rise this fast...! Could it be...?" (...)

LAYER 29: GRUDGE

Fumetsu's second move comes incredibly fast, cutting through Pusgurt's arms, which he uses as cover. Pusgurt retreats, but Fumetsu only gets closer. But suddenly, in the blink of an eye, the battlefield disappears, replaced by a green, wooded area. Startled, Fumetsu walks silently. He senses no energy; only greenery and rivers. Finally, he reaches an open area; birds begin to sing, wolves howl, lions roar. The center of the open area collapses, and Pusgurt emerges. "The Seal of Nature: The Conflicted Peace Between Earth and Heavens." he says. Fumetsu dismissively replies, "Do you open a seal every time you can't win a battle?" Pusgurt interrupts Fumetsu, "I noticed something in our battle, Kort. Your grudge rose unusually quickly. Also, you left out an incomplete story." "It wasn't intentional, it was as if you didn't remember..." he says. Fumetsu's movements become serious, as if a secret has been revealed. Pusgurt continues, "Do you remember how you got here, Kort? I think you do. You're one of Zars' experiments, aren't you? It was already known that he had a Tes he was working on... What else would he do with all those Tes he stole in his battles? How he did it is beyond me... But he seems to have succeeded. And it's in you. The Tes of Grudge itself..." Before Fumetsu can speak, Pusgurt continues, "Now that I think about it... There's no way an Evor could carry something like the Tes of Grudge. You already possess a Tes, don't you? A Tes strong enough to carry the power of grudge... The fact that you also have a Tes asides from the Tes of Grudge explains your power." Fumetsu looks at Pusgurt's eyes unimpressed. "Even if you learn everything about me, the odds are always on my side. The future knows who is the victorious. I'll finish you off before you tell anyone. The only group that can stop me are the members of the Jilid Council. I am intelligent. According to Zars, my Tes is formed from my intelligence. I say that even as Evor, I was able to master this Tes out of pure intelligence... So, Pusgurt, aren't we going to fight?" he says. The battle begins; Pusgurt attacks Fumetsu, the very essence of nature: animals, insects, plants, rivers, every being in the area. Fumetsu's katanas mercilessly slice through everything, living and dead. He lunges at Pusgurt, but Pusgurt transforms himself into a tree and ends up in another tree. Instead of cutting Pusgurt, Fumetsu tears apart the surrounding plants and trees, but thinking it wouldn't make much sense because the area is so vast, he stops and looks back. The thousands of trees he had just cut down are standing there, brand new. Fumetsu transforms his grudge into air, sending himself high and far away from the forest. Pusgurt is exposed, unable to do anything. "Was that grudge? So my suspicions were correct. The whole point of the Tes of Grudge is to transform grudge into physics." says Pusgurt. Fumetsu laughs and says, "You're right. That's how the Tes of Grudge works. According to Zars, there used to be a Tes of Will. It works the same way..." Pusgurt takes flight, "I control the earth, water, animals, insects, and plants. It's obvious, isn't it? But... have you ever wondered why there's sky in this seal, Kort?" he says, and as soon as he says this, every single leaf from every tree is torn off and blown away, covering everything. Fumetsu's expression changes; he looks around anxiously. "You fought well, Kort." says Pusgurt. The leaves thin out, sharpen, and a storm blows, cutting Fumetsu. Even though Fumetsu is fast, he can't cut every leaf and gets injured. Pusgurt, transforms into leaves, then himself, punching left and right, and finally slams Fumetsu to the ground; Fumetsu gets up, breathless, Pusgurt descends, and the leaves return to their branches. Pusgurt says, "It's over, Kort." but the entire area disappears along with the seal. Pusgurt and Fumetsu, emerging from the seal, sees that the planet has also disappeared. Zars and Furoy are also floating. Pusgurt says, "Kira's power. But it killed my seal too... Your friend must be in trouble, huh?" (...)

LAYER 29: GOKKAL

At that exact moment, Pusgurt's eyes widen in shock. "Where are the swords?" he asks, but gets no answer. He looks around, but neither sees nor senses anything. Finally, Fumetsu speaks. "There's always a lion that kills the deer, Pusgurt." he says, and as he speaks, both swords pierce Pusgurt's back. Pusgurt cries out. "And your lion... is me!" Fumetsu says, and, filling his swords with grudge, raises them, creating two giant slits in Pusgurt's body. He draws the swords and Pusgurt begins to speak, "How could this be... I sensed nothing... What are the odds!?" Fumetsu replies, "I completely drained the grudge from my swords and threw them far away. Once they were far enough away, I gave them a momentary dose of venom, turning them towards you. Because the energy was zero, you felt nothing." But Pusgurt's mind is preoccupied with something else. Something very important. You kept talking about odds, Kort... So the probabilities were on your side, huh? Now I understand... That's the power of your Tes... Possibility! says Pusgurt. At that moment, the planet returns to its original state. And they land on the ground. "Didn't your friend's father tell you about it? he continues. The death of the deer... It's a harbinger of disaster!" His skin dries, molds, rots, shrinks, and turns into a cocoon. The cocoon grows and grows and begins to glow turquoise. Finally, a huge explosion occurs. Fumetsu flies backward and regains his balance. Pusgurt stands before him; his green color has turned turquoise, his body, three times the size of his former body, has become transparent towards his waist, transformed into a wolf. The law of the Sky, Gokkal. And that disaster is me... They call me "Gok Tengri"... says Pusgurt. At that moment, Abrakmat arrives. "Pusgurt, is this him?" he says. The sky turns turquoise, Pusgurt takes flight and disappears into the air. Fumetsu, sensing the level of will, instinctively recoils. He calls out to Abrakmat, "ABRAKMAT, STEP BACK!" the fear in his voice evident. Abrakmat appears beside Fumetsu and says, "The Plan. You know how my mind works, Fumetsu. What is the plan?" Fumetsu replies, "We'll wait for Deregerol to arrive. That thing is now a God..." (...)

LAYER 30: KING

Meanwhile, Zars is about to defeat Furoy. Zars says, "I'm defeating you without even using a seal, you realize that, right? You've used two seals so far... And here I am; standing, unfazed, unconcerned. I don't care what you are, what you've done, or the prophecies. I will defeat you and rule everything!" Furoy, drenched in sweat and breathless, barely able to stand, replies, "Prophecies are infallible, Zars... Even if I sit doing nothing, I will still be the winner..." and a familiar, terrifying energy enters Kortania. Zars says, "Come on now... We just began..." Eloi begins to speak, and all of Kortania shakes. "Do you know what manipulation is, Zars? It's being convinced that your useless seal can hold a being like me... The Tes of Infinity isn't about strength or endurance... It's about intelligence! It requires a mentality capable of handling infinity. It requires someone who can shape and command it!" "If I couldn't foresee your mark, why would I have been chosen? The moment I took the Tes of Infinity into my hand, the infinite knowledge of Baz was loaded into my mind. Do you think it's easy? It requires a king! And that king is no other than me. Furoy! Rest a little. I'll take care of Zars..." he says, after landing. He is shorter than when Jamz first saw him. He is the same height as Zars and Furoy. Zars initiates the conversation. "We've grown old, haven't we? It feels like we only met yesterday." he says. Eloi also says, "I've come to save you, Zars. If possible, I will save you from that Tes." Zars laughs, "After all those wars, the millions of universes wiped from existence, Wert, Sard, and the council members who lost their lives for nothing? After all the blood spilled!? I am the very embodiment of pessimism. You cannot save me! Zars is now just a name... I am a demon! The devil!" Eloi doesn't speak, he just takes a breath to release the weight on his shoulders. Zars says, "I'm sorry, King of Werteron. This war will be the end of everything. And I will not be the loser..." and the war of the kings begins. At that moment, Furoy leans against a tree and switches places with Jamz... (...)
