Across the ballroom, Alice noticed something interesting. Rafael wasn't paying attention to the conversation. At least not completely.
Every few minutes his eyes drifted elsewhere toward the same person.
Following his gaze, Alice finally found Aria.
The beautiful woman standing quietly near the guests. The woman Noah seemed unusually comfortable around.
Alice got curious and then she decided to ask.
"Rafael."
"Hm?"
"Who is Noah talking to?"
Rafael immediately knew who she meant. His eyes moved toward Aria.
At that exact moment Noah had walked over to her.
Both of them were talking. Then Aria suddenly laughed. The kind Rafael hadn't heard before.
Something unpleasant twisted inside his chest.
Alice looked between them.
"They seem close."
Rafael took a sip of his drink.
"They work together."
Alice wasn't convinced.
"That's all?"
