Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: High Speed and Heavy Metal

"Thanks for watching. Bye!" Another video from "You-Tube" ended, but sleep was nowhere to be found.

It's funny how even in this world, those "two idiots from Belarus with a camera" still exist, trashing games and the industry. I'm in a comic book universe, yet some things are just too familiar.

I glanced at the clock—past 1:00 AM. A new day, a new month, and more importantly: the Gacha purchase limit has reset.

I opened the Shop and saw the beautiful sight of a refreshed limit. I activated my donation coupon, bought all the packs, and grabbed the daily reward.

Total: 1,195 crystals. Enough for two multi-rolls. I managed to level up today, but I hope to god no one finds out how.

Stomach growls. I need a "midnight snack" before I pull.

Down in the kitchen, I realized I wasn't the only one raiding the fridge.

"Can't sleep?" I asked.

"Yeah. New place, you know," Michelle replied, clutching a 200g yogurt. "Decided a light snack might help."

"Aren't you afraid of ruining that figure with 'light snacks' like that?"

"Nope. Everything goes exactly where it needs to. Yogurt is healthy—unlike your caramel popcorn, chocolate bar, and Coke," she said, raising an eyebrow.

"Don't worry," I smirked. "Mine goes exactly where it needs to, too."

The gears in her head turned for a few seconds before she caught the double entendre. She chuckled. "Don't forget to turn off the light when you leave."

"Got it. Sweet dreams."

Back in my room, I set up my feast and rubbed my palms together. "Come on, Luck, don't screw me over!" I tapped the roll button.

Pull 1 Results:

Renault FT Tank – The 'Car of the Year' in 1917. Cool, I guess?

Box of Cherries (0.5 kg) – I'm more of an apple guy.

Rabbit Talisman (Jackie Chan Adventures) – HUGE win. Super-speed. Combine this with a few more talismans and I'm basically Superman. Wait, I already have a Superman card.

Healing Scroll (WarCraft 3) – Restores 150 HP. Definitely useful.

Iron Man Armor Mk. 2 (Marvel) – YES. The silver one. Rhodes turned this into War Machine later. Just have to remember the icing problem.

Liquid Soap (Watermelon-Melon) – Smells nice?

Demiurge (Overlord) – Deus and Deathwing have a new friend. This guy is a literal psycho-vivisector. Keeping him in the 'Do Not Summon' pile.

Nike T-shirt – Just a purple shirt. Just do it, I guess.

Golden Star Balm – The legendary, unopenable Soviet ointment. A true artifact.

Hank Pym / Ant-Man / Giant-Man (Ultimate Marvel) – Genius, but a total mess of a human being. The guy who created Ultron.

Mobility problem? Solved. I've got super-speed and a flight-capable suit. I wonder if I can use the talisman on the tank?

I only have one Enhancement Card left. I need more.

I looked at the window. The urge to test the armor and the talisman was fighting my "grounded" status.

Screw it. "If you don't get caught, it's not a crime."

One more multi-roll before I go.

Pull 2 Results:

Dragon Brain – Zid should know some alchemy recipes for this.

Gentleman Skeleton's Crystal Skull – Part of a collector's set?

Carl Proctor (Police Academy) – Ugh, the bumbling sidekick. Why couldn't I get a protagonist?

Adam (Record of Ragnarok) – Jackpot. The Father of Humanity. He fought Zeus to a standstill. My 'Emergency Button' list just grew.

Wooden Leg – A pirate's dream. My nightmare.

Long Tongue – A skill that lets me stick my tongue out two feet? Weird and gross.

Musashi's Panties (Used - Kantai Collection) – Gacha, stop with the used underwear! I'm not that kind of pervert!

Enhancement Card – Thank god.

Pack of Condoms (12 pcs) – Optimistic, Gacha. Very optimistic.

OST (Background Music Skill) – A passive skill that plays background music for everyone around me? Imagine fighting to heavy metal or sneaking to the Mission Impossible theme. Actually... that sounds like a liability.

The Crystal Skull is a quest item. If I collect the whole set, I get 207 XP and +2 Luck. Worth it.

I summoned the Rabbit Talisman and gripped it. My vision didn't change, but the curtains started moving in extreme slow-motion.

I grabbed my phone—it still works at super-speed. I downloaded a song, threw on some athletic gear, protective goggles, and headphones.

I snuck out through the kitchen into the yard. I put on "Sweet Dreams" and started running.

It didn't feel like I was a speedster until the wind started hitting my face like a hurricane. I made it to the old bridge in fifteen minutes—a trip that usually takes way longer.

Time for the main event. I summoned the Iron Man Mk. 2 Armor.

A shiny, two-meter-tall steel suit appeared. "Shit... how do I put this on without a gantry?"

I tried shoving it into my System inventory. It worked! I clicked "Equip" and the suit materialized around me over my clothes.

The HUD flared to life. No Jarvis, though. I have to fly this thing manually.

"System... Repulsors at 5% power."

I felt the pressure push against my hands and feet. I nearly tipped over. It felt like trying to hold a ball underwater.

"Increase to 7.5%."

I lifted off. I couldn't feel the ground anymore. I leaned forward to look down, and the suit shot forward, dragging my face across the concrete with a horrible metallic screech.

"Repulsors OFF!"

[ New Skill Obtained: Heavy Armor Proficiency ]

[ New Skill Obtained: Power Armor Piloting ]

[ New Skill Obtained: Flight ]

This is going to be a long night. "Repulsors to 10%... Let's go!"
