Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: Roommate Wang Gang

These thoughts flashed through Wang Dong'er's mind, and in just an instant, her eyes had already turned red.

She was far from the only one reacting this way; Wu Feng and many others shared the same sentiment. News had broken that the Outer Court's number one heartthrob, Feng Piaoling, along with a group of core disciples, had been expelled by that old hag Zhou Yi and subsequently ambushed by villains outside Shrek Academy.

Many of Feng Piaoling's young female fans were weeping piteously. The scene was comparable to the massive fan gatherings on Feng Piaoling's past life, Earth—reminiscent of fans crying their hearts out just because their favorite idol had a papercut or a cold.

Of course, there were also those gloating over the misfortune.

Learning that the fate of Feng Piaoling and the others was unknown, Dai Huabin, the instigator of it all, could no longer restrain himself and burst into laughter. "Haha, Yuhao, did you hear? That bastard Feng Piaoling and that wench Zhu Lu are all dead! Haha, good riddance!"

Huo Yuhao, however, could not find it in himself to be happy. He sighed and said, "That may be so, but Teacher Zhou Yi was implicated because of this."

Dai Huabin patted Huo Yuhao on the shoulder and comforted him: "It doesn't matter. Have you forgotten? Teacher Zhou Yi is the wife of Fan Yu from the Soul Tool Department. Although she was fired and expelled from the academy, she can still stay at Shrek as a family member of a faculty member. She just won't be able to show her face for a while."

"Now that the bastard Feng Piaoling is finished, we just need to grow quickly and demonstrate enough talent and strength in the coming days. When the time comes, there might still be hope for Teacher Zhou Yi to be reinstated."

After hearing Dai Huabin's words, Huo Yuhao felt much better. In truth, did he really care about Zhou Yi? Not necessarily... he simply craved the feeling of being cared for, especially when it came from his half-brother, Dai Huabin.

Tianxing City was a frontier city adjacent to the Mingdou Mountain Range, located in the western part of the Star Luo Empire.

While the city could not compare to the grandeur of Shrek City, it was a vital border stronghold for the Star Luo Empire with a long and storied history. Over four thousand years ago, the Sun Moon Continent collided with the Douluo Continent, forming the Mingdou Mountain Range.

To seize the rare ores contained within the mountains and to prevent the Sun Moon Empire from launching a counterattack, the Star Luo Empire built this city specifically to supply the troops stationed there. Over time, the city gradually became a trade hub where many merchants came to purchase exotic ores for soul tool manufacturing to sell throughout the three empires of the Douluo Continent.

The night was deep, and the sky was devoid of stars or moonlight. Because Tianxing City was a strategic frontier, a curfew was implemented every night. Inside the four city gates, no fewer than a hundred fully armed soldiers stood guard at each. Armored patrols paced the city walls periodically, defending Tianxing City like an iron fortress.

At that moment, a yellow light suddenly streaked through the ground, leaving a brilliant trail of fire as if it were splitting the very earth. Strangely, not a single glimmer of light escaped to the surface. It shot into Tianxing City silently; from beginning to end, no one noticed its presence.

Finally, the yellow light stopped in a brightly lit small courtyard. It rose and expanded, transforming into a large platform nearly three meters in diameter. Figures slowly rose from beneath the yellow platform and stepped onto the ground.

"Blergh..."

"Ugh..."

The sound of retching rose one after another. As the yellow light faded, nine figures—two men and seven women—appeared. Aside from the leading man and woman, the others were either crouching on the ground or leaning against the walls, swaying and vomiting uncontrollably.

"It really has been hard on them," a calm voice spoke. Feng Piaoling, now dressed in blue robes, shook his head with a smile. It was indeed him, having already left Shrek Academy. Those vomiting were, naturally, the members of the Soul Hall who had followed him.

Standing beside Feng Piaoling, Jiang Nannan looked at the miserable group and offered a slight smile. "It can't be helped. During the underground travel, their nerves were wound tight, and they were in a constant state of weightlessness. They'll get used to it in the future."

Because she had been practicing Feng Piaoling's "Heaven-Reaching Demon Eye" and "Green Lotus Sword Technique" for the past few months, combined with the fact that her cultivation was over a dozen levels higher than the others, her face was only slightly pale despite traveling underground at high speeds for seven or eight hours.

Just then, the door to the west wing opened. A simple-looking youth, roughly the same age as Feng Piaoling, ran out excitedly. When Feng Piaoling saw him, he smiled. "Wang Gang."

"Boss! I've finally been waiting for you! According to your instructions, I took the key you gave me and Senior Sister Jiang Nannan's letter to find her mother and brought her here."

The youth was none other than Wang Gang, Feng Piaoling's former roommate who had been expelled from Shrek for failing the freshman assessment. His martial soul was the Vajra Tiger, a relatively high-grade beast soul. However, because he was born a commoner, his first spirit ring was only just over a hundred years old. Lacking proper resources and training, he had failed to pass the assessment.

After he was expelled, Feng Piaoling—partly out of consideration for Jiang Nannan's mother and partly because he saw Wang Gang was a loyal and honest person during their three months together—decided to give him a chance. He sent him to escort Jiang Nannan's mother to Tianxing City, a place close to the Sun Moon Empire but safe enough for their purposes. If he completed the task, Feng Piaoling would allow him to join the Soul Hall.

"Wang Gang, where is my mother?" Jiang Nannan asked immediately, as she had met Wang Gang before.

"Auntie is in the east wing. She's been worried about you these past few days," Wang Gang pointed to the house opposite them.

Jiang Nannan looked at Feng Piaoling. He reached into his Four Symbols Coiling Dragon Belt, took out a Mystic Water Pill, and handed it to her. "Go ahead."

Jiang Nannan nodded, took the pill, and hurried to the east wing to knock on the door. Moments later, a mature, beautiful woman who shared a thirty to forty percent resemblance to Jiang Nannan opened the door. The mother and daughter embraced excitedly upon their reunion. Then, they looked toward Feng Piaoling with eyes full of gratitude.

Feng Piaoling smiled and waved his hand, signaling for them to go inside and catch up. Then, he called out calmly, "Chu Tian."

Though Huang Chutian's stomach was still doing somersaults, he managed to walk over respectfully. "Boss."

After the battle in the forest outside Shrek Academy, where Feng Piaoling had killed five Soul Kings and one Soul Emperor single-handedly, Huang Chutian and the others had long been deeply awed by his strength.
