Chapter 50 - Chapter 52 The Family Under Spell

The estate had settled into an uneasy quiet. The laughter of the wedding had faded, and the morning calm carried with it a sense of false serenity. But beneath the surface, a storm was stirring—one invisible, insidious, and terrifying.

Sonko had returned. His presence was subtle at first, almost ghostlike, but the energy that followed him was palpable. Every movement, every word carried the weight of his obsession and a power that could bend memory itself. He had spent days preparing, studying ancient arts and incantations that could cloud the mind, erase resentment, and rewrite perception.

Kenty and her parents had become his unknowing victims. They moved through the estate with normal smiles, spoke with warmth, and behaved as if the past—the wedding chaos, the betrayal, the anguish—had never happened. Their memories of Sonko's schemes, the threats, the heartbreak, all blurred into a haze.

Kenty herself felt strangely drawn to him, as though instinct and longing overrode caution. She could not explain the confusion in her heart, the subtle pull toward the man who had once betrayed her. When Sonko approached her, his gaze intense but strangely tender, she instinctively stepped closer, her mind blank of all caution, all fear.

Her father and mother, too, treated him as a guest, even a trusted confidant, their expressions warm, open, and devoid of suspicion. David and Precious noticed immediately—the subtle shift, the glaze over their faces, the unquestioning trust toward a man who had once threatened their family.

David whispered under his breath, his jaw tight with determination. "The spell is strong. Kenty, Mom, and Dad… they've fallen under it. But we… we are immune."

Precious's hand brushed his arm, her eyes alert. "It's true. Our power protects us. But this is dangerous, David. If Sonko strengthens the spell, he could control their decisions, their actions… even the estate."

Every day Sonko spent with them solidified his hold. He spoke softly, subtly weaving commands, planting memories that were not real, reinforcing the sense of loyalty and affection. Kenty laughed at his jokes, her gestures warm, her voice full of a trust she could not explain. Her parents began inviting him into family decisions with unprecedented openness.

Yet even under the spell, faint flickers of old memories haunted Kenty. A shadow of doubt occasionally clouded her eyes. Moments where a word, a gesture, or a memory would hint at the truth but they were fleeting, quickly smoothed over by Sonko's presence and the enchantment he had woven.

David observed all of it silently, his mind mapping each action, each incantation, each subtle manipulation. "We cannot confront him yet," he said at night to Precious. "If we try openly, the spell could backfire, and he could hurt them—hurt Kenty."

Precious nodded, her eyes narrowing in thought. "We'll wait, protect, and plan. We must outthink him, not overpower him. Our power is our patience, our love, and our unity."

The family continued under the spell, moving like actors on a stage they no longer fully controlled. Sonko's obsession had not dulled, and his methods were patient, meticulous, and dangerously calculated. He watched Kenty with a mix of love and madness, convinced that the spell had secured her entirely—and that his vision of possession would be realized.

Yet for David and Precious, hope remained. Their natural immunity to Sonko's manipulation allowed them to see clearly, to strategize, and to guard their family's future. They were the quiet shield, the hidden strength, and the only line of defense against the encroaching darkness.

And so the estate continued in a delicate balance—the family smiling, living, and unaware of the danger looming over their hearts and minds. Only two could see the truth. Only two could fight in silence.

The struggle for control, for loyalty, and for Kenty's true self had begun—and no one outside the shadows realized how high the stakes had become.
