The door of the bedroom opened slowly as the doctor entered inside. Mr Murry bowed and left the room, leaving them alone.
Damon stood near the large bed. He crossed his arms tightly over his broad chest. His eyes were focused on the older man carrying the brown leather medical bag.
Dr. Aris walked over to the side of the bed. He set his leather bag down on the small table next to the bowl of cold water.
The doctor leaned forward. He looked closely at Camilla's flushed, sweating face. He reached out his clean, wrinkled hands and gently placed his fingers on her wrist, feeling the rapid, heavy beating of her pulse. Then, he carefully lifted her eyelids, checking her eyes. Her pupils were dilated and unfocused, even in her sleep.
Damon watched every single movement the doctor made. His jaw was clenched so tightly that his teeth ground together. He felt a deep, twisting knot of fear in his stomach. He hated seeing her look so weak and fragile.
