Chapter 48 - Ch48: A Smalll Celebration

Chapter 48: A Small Celebration

The plains were quieter that day.

Not empty.

Just… focused.

The human group had not moved far from the Vital Grass zone.

They stayed close.

Closer than usual.

Hus was standing.

Not fully steady.

But standing.

Alicia observed silently.

"…Faster recovery."

Not normal.

Not just the grass.

Something else had changed.

The others surrounded him.

Speaking in short, uneven words.

Excited.

Confused.

"Better…?"

Hus nodded slowly.

"Warm… inside."

They didn't understand what had happened.

But they understood one thing.

He wasn't weak anymore.

One of them made a sound.

Louder than usual.

Calling others.

More humans arrived over time.

From nearby groups.

Drawn by movement.

By sound.

By something unusual.

Alicia noticed the pattern.

"…You're gathering."

That hadn't happened before.

Not like this.

The area around the Vital Grass patch became crowded.

Not chaotic.

But active.

Some brought food.

Some brought herbs.

Some just… watched.

Hus stood in the center.

Not as a leader.

Not yet.

But different.

One of them reached out and touched his arm.

Then quickly pulled back.

Surprised.

"Strong…"

Alicia focused.

"…So they can feel the difference."

Even without understanding.

As the light faded, they didn't leave.

They stayed.

A small fire formed.

Rough.

Unstable.

But intentional.

The group sat around it.

Closer than before.

Safer than before.

Sounds filled the area.

Not words.

Not fully.

But not random either.

Alicia watched quietly.

"…This is new."

Not just survival.

Something else.

Community.

Hus sat near the center.

Breathing slower now.

More controlled.

The energy inside him wasn't leaking anymore.

It stayed.

Circulated.

Weak.

But stable.

Alicia observed carefully.

"…So it holds."

That confirmed it.

This wasn't temporary.

Nearby, the silver fox appeared again.

At the edge of the gathering.

Watching.

It didn't move closer.

Didn't attack.

Didn't leave.

Just watched.

Alicia narrowed her awareness.

"…You noticed too."

For a moment, the fox's gaze shifted.

Not at the humans.

Upward.

Toward nothing.

Then it turned and left.

Alicia paused.

"…Strange."

Back in the forest—

movement had not slowed.

If anything, it had increased.

Another clash.

Another territory shift.

The difference between regions was growing.

Plains: stability, gathering, slow growth

Forest: conflict, pressure, faster growth

Alicia compared both.

"…Not equal."

She looked at Hus again.

Then at the others.

Then across the plains.

"…One is not enough."

The celebration continued.

Small.

Simple.

Quiet.

But something had already changed.

This wasn't just a group anymore.

It was the beginning of a village.

And villages…

grow.

First cultivator… and the first gathering 👀

Do you think humans will grow fast enough to catch up with beasts?

Or will the forest stay ahead?
