Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – The Boy with the Sleeping Powers

Long ago, in a magical world called Eternia, seven great kingdoms floated high in the sky like islands in the clouds. Each kingdom was a city of wonder, protected by enormous dragons that had lived for thousands of years. These dragons were not ordinary beasts. They were guardians, creatures of magic and ancient wisdom, entrusted to maintain balance across the floating realms.

The dragons were bound to a mystical artifact known as the Dragon Crown, which allowed a chosen human—the Dragon Bearer—to communicate with all dragons and control the flow of magic in Eternia. For centuries, the Dragon Crown ensured peace between the kingdoms. But one day, the crown vanished. No one knew why, and the dragons, left without their guiding connection, fell into a deep slumber.

Without the dragons' protection, darkness began to spread. Shadows stretched over mountains, forests, and valleys. War erupted among the kingdoms as greed and fear took hold of men's hearts. Monsters, long kept at bay by dragon magic, began roaming the lands. And in the deepest shadows of the sky, whispers of a rising evil traveled from island to island, promising devastation.

Far below the floating islands, nestled in the foothills of the Evernight Mountains, lay a quiet village known as Lumisvale. It was a peaceful place where glowing fireflies lit the nights, rivers sparkled with crystal-clear water, and villagers lived simple lives. Among them lived a boy named Kim Woo Bin.

Woo Bin was sixteen, with dark hair that fell slightly into his eyes and a lean, strong build from years of helping his grandmother and working in the blacksmith shop. His father had disappeared when he was very young, leaving only a set of tools and a love for forging metal. His mother had passed away before he could remember her face. Since then, his grandmother raised him, teaching him the ways of the village, the forest, and old tales of dragons and heroes.

Every day, Woo Bin would rise before dawn to help the blacksmith, crafting horseshoes, plow blades, and swords. He had always been strong for his age, but there was something unusual about him—something he had never told anyone. Whenever he touched certain metals, they glowed faintly blue. At first, he thought he imagined it, but over the years, it happened often enough that he could no longer deny it.

He kept it a secret. People in the village were kind, but the world was unforgiving toward those who were different. His grandmother often warned him, "Woo Bin, the world fears what it does not understand. Hide your gifts until the time is right." And so, he obeyed.

One evening, after a long day of work at the blacksmith, Woo Bin walked home through the forest path that twisted behind the village. The sky was unlike anything he had ever seen. In Eternia, three moons illuminated the night: one silver, one gold, and one a pale blue. They hung low over the mountains, casting shifting shadows across the forest. The trees themselves seemed alive, their leaves whispering secrets in the wind.

As Woo Bin walked, a sudden rumble shook the ground beneath his feet. Birds erupted from the treetops, their cries piercing the night. A gust of wind rushed through the forest as if the sky itself were warning him.

"What… was that?" Woo Bin whispered, his heart racing.

He looked up and froze. A massive shadow blotted out the moons as it descended from the sky. The sound of its wings was thunderous, and the ground shook again as it crashed into the forest ahead. Without thinking, Woo Bin ran toward the sound, branches snapping beneath his feet. The smell of ozone and scorched earth filled the air.

When he arrived at the clearing, he could hardly believe his eyes. There, sprawled across the mossy ground, was a giant silver dragon. Its scales shimmered like polished steel, reflecting the moons' light in dazzling patterns. Its wings, larger than any house in the village, were torn and ragged. Dark, glowing chains wrapped around its body, burning its scales with black energy that pulsed like a heartbeat.

Woo Bin's chest tightened. "A… dragon?" he whispered. Dragons were creatures of legend, said to have disappeared thousands of years ago. And yet here one lay, real and alive, yet wounded and struggling.

The dragon slowly raised its head, opening one immense golden eye that glowed like molten sunlight. The forest fell silent. Even the wind seemed to hold its breath.

"Finally… I found you."

Woo Bin stumbled back. "Y-you… can talk?" His voice trembled.

"Yes, Kim Woo Bin," the dragon replied. Its voice rumbled like distant thunder, vibrating in the ground beneath him. "I have searched for centuries to find you."

"How do you know my name?" Woo Bin asked, his heart pounding.

"Because… you are the one chosen. You bear the mark of the Dragon Bearer."

Before Woo Bin could respond, a searing heat erupted in his right hand. He looked down and gasped. A glowing dragon-shaped symbol had appeared on his palm, shimmering with blue fire. Energy coursed through him, warm and alive, as if a storm of magic had awakened inside him.

"I… I don't understand," Woo Bin stammered.

"I'm just a boy from a village."

The dragon's golden eye softened. "No. You are far more than that. You are the last Dragon Bearer, the one destined to restore balance to Eternia. The Dragon Crown has awaited you for centuries. And now… it calls to you."

The boy's mind raced. He had heard stories of heroes in old tales told by his grandmother, but none spoke of a boy from a small village wielding such power.

"Dragon Bearer? Me?" he whispered, still staring at the glowing symbol.

"Yes," the dragon said. "The crown was lost, and the dragons fell into slumber. Darkness rises, and only you can awaken what has been asleep. But be warned… the path ahead will be perilous. Forces beyond imagination seek the crown and your power. You will face monsters, warlords, and even those who were once allies. Your strength, courage, and heart will be tested."

Woo Bin swallowed hard, feeling the weight of destiny pressing upon him. His quiet life—the life of a blacksmith's helper—was gone. The simplicity of village evenings and peaceful rivers had vanished. In its place was a destiny written in fire and shadow.

Suddenly, the sky darkened as a massive storm of black clouds formed over the forest. Lightning crackled in the distance, striking the tops of the mountains with deadly precision. Far off, he could see faint, glowing figures marching across the floating kingdoms—armies of darkness moving as if drawn by an invisible hand.

"The world is changing," the dragon said softly. "And you are the beginning of that change. But first… you must learn to awaken the dragons."

The boy looked at the glowing symbol on his hand, feeling both fear and awe. For the first time, he understood that magic was real. That dragons were real. And that his life would never be the same.

"Where… do I begin?" Woo Bin asked, his voice steady despite the storm in his chest.

The dragon lowered its massive head, its golden eyes locking with his.

"Your journey begins tonight, Kim Woo Bin. Tonight, the first step of the Dragon Bearer is taken. But know this… the Dragon Crown is not simply an artifact. It is a key, a challenge, and a burden. Whoever controls it can shape the fate of all Eternia. And there are those who will stop at nothing to claim it."

A distant roar echoed through the forest. Another dragon, perhaps? Or something darker, something older? Woo Bin didn't know, but he felt it in his bones. Danger was coming.

Taking a deep breath, he clenched his fists. The glowing dragon mark pulsed in rhythm with his heartbeat, almost as if it were alive.

"Then I'll learn. I'll find the crown. I'll awaken the dragons. And I'll protect Eternia," he said, his voice stronger now, carrying determination that surprised even him.

The dragon's golden eye gleamed brighter. "Good. That is the courage of the Dragon Bearer. Now, we fly."

Before Woo Bin could react, the dragon extended its massive wings. With a powerful leap, it lifted into the night sky, carrying him above the forest. The wind whipped past his face, and for the first time, he felt the exhilaration of flight, the thrill of freedom, and the weight of destiny pressing down all at once.

Far below, the village of Lumisvale slept peacefully, unaware that the boy they had always known was now the key to saving—or dooming—the world. Above the mountains, the floating kingdoms glimmered in the starlight, dragons asleep, armies gathering, and an adventure that would stretch across the skies of Eternia had begun.

As the dragon soared higher, Woo Bin looked at the glowing mark on his hand, feeling the magic pulse stronger than ever. Somewhere, far across the kingdoms, a dark voice whispered through the clouds:

"The Dragon Bearer has awakened. And soon… all shall kneel before the crown."

Woo Bin tightened his grip and whispered to himself, "I won't let that happen. Not while I breathe. Not while I live."

And with that, the journey of Kim Woo Bin, the Dragon Bearer of Eternia, had truly begun.
