Layla sat quietly ata the cafe window ,her fingers wrapped around a cup of coffee that had long gone cold.
She stared at the napkin on her table blankly.
Her family had already decided her future.
In three months she would be married to a man he barely knew.
An arranged marriage.
The words still felt strange in her chest. Like a promise she had never agreed to keep.
Her mother had called it a blessing,her father had called it security . A powerful family,wealth,respect,stability --everything a daughter should want.
But no one had asked Layla what she wanted.
She stared out the window as the rain began to fall softly on the pavement.
