Revenge of a Weak Hunter
Chapter 1: The Weakest Hunter
The world changed ten years ago.
No one knew why.
The sky simply… tore open.
From those cracks came strange portals known as Gates, and from the Gates came monsters that turned cities into battlefields.
Humanity was pushed to the brink.
Then something unexpected happened.
Some people awakened powers.
They were called Hunters.
Hunters became humanity's shield, fighting monsters and entering Gates to prevent disasters.
But not all hunters were equal.
Some were powerful enough to destroy armies.
Others… were barely stronger than normal humans.
And among them all, one name was famous for the wrong reason.
Hussain Khan.
The weakest hunter alive.
---
Inside the Hunter Association training hall, the sound of steel clashing echoed loudly.
Several hunters sparred while others watched.
At the center of the room, Hussain stood quietly, adjusting the straps of his worn gloves.
A hunter nearby laughed.
"Look, the F-Rank showed up again."
Another hunter crossed his arms.
"Why does he even come here?"
"Training won't make trash stronger."
A few people chuckled.
Hussain ignored them.
He had heard those words too many times to care anymore.
Still, a voice cut through the room.
"Hey, Hussain!"
Karim waved from the other side of the hall, jogging toward him with a grin.
Karim was taller, broader, and carried the confidence of a C-Rank Hunter.
Behind him walked two others.
A girl with calm eyes and long dark hair.
And a quiet young man with glasses.
Karim slapped Hussain's shoulder.
"You survived another mission?"
Hussain nodded.
"Barely."
Aisha folded her arms.
"You should stop going on solo missions."
"One day your luck will run out."
Yun adjusted his glasses slightly.
"He doesn't rely on luck."
Everyone looked at him.
Yun continued calmly.
"He relies on survival instincts."
Karim laughed.
"Same thing."
Hussain allowed a faint smile.
These three were the only people who didn't treat him like a joke.
Suddenly a loud voice interrupted.
"Still babysitting the weakest hunter?"
Victor Hale approached with two other hunters behind him.
Victor was a B-Rank Hunter, known for his lightning abilities.
He looked at Hussain like someone examining garbage.
"You know weak hunters are a waste of resources."
Leo Riker cracked his knuckles beside him.
"I say we let monsters deal with him."
Daniel smirked.
"Natural selection."
Karim stepped forward angrily.
"You want to repeat that?"
Victor simply shrugged.
"I'm just stating facts."
The tension thickened in the room.
But Hussain placed a hand on Karim's shoulder.
"It's fine."
Victor chuckled.
"Of course it is."
He turned away.
"Come on. We're wasting time."
The bullies walked off laughing.
Karim clenched his fists.
"I swear one day I'm going to punch that guy."
Aisha sighed.
"You'll get arrested."
Yun looked toward Hussain.
"You really don't care?"
Hussain stared at the training floor quietly.
"It's nothing new."
But deep inside, he wondered something.
What would it feel like…
to actually be strong?
---
Later that night, Hussain walked home through the quiet streets.
Streetlights flickered above him.
The city was peaceful tonight.
For once, no Gates had opened.
When he reached his house, the door swung open before he could knock.
"Hussain!"
His younger sister Amina hugged him tightly.
"You came back!"
Their mother smiled from the kitchen.
"You're just in time for dinner."
His father looked up from the table.
"You look exhausted."
Hussain sat down slowly.
"Just another mission."
His sister frowned.
"You should quit being a hunter."
"What if something happens to you?"
Hussain looked at his family.
This small house.
This quiet moment.
This was the reason he kept fighting.
"If I quit," he said softly, "who will protect you?"
His father chuckled.
"There are thousands of stronger hunters than you."
Everyone laughed.
Even Hussain.
For a moment, everything felt normal.
Then suddenly—
A strange cold sensation spread through his body.
Hussain froze.
The room became silent.
Too silent.
A voice echoed inside his mind.
A voice ancient and distant.
"Interesting."
Hussain's eyes widened.
"Such a weak vessel…"
"Yet your soul refuses to break."
Pain exploded inside his head.
He grabbed the edge of the table.
Amina looked worried.
"Brother?"
But Hussain couldn't answer.
The voice continued.
"You will be perfect."
Far above the city…
The sky cracked open again.
A massive Gate appeared.
Inside Hussain's mind, the voice whispered one final sentence.
"Let us begin."
Hussain collapsed to the floor.
And the darkness swallowed him.
