Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 — The Path Beyond

The moonlight shimmered across the training ground, reflecting in puddles from Sona's last spar. Her body ached everywhere, but her gaze was steady, sharper than ever before. She could feel it—Observation humming at the edge of her awareness, Armament pulsing faintly under her skin, Conqueror's flaring in her chest like an untamed crown.

Riser clapped once, breaking the silence. "That's it. The foundation's laid. You've awakened all three."

Sona straightened, still catching her breath. "…Then, this is it? My training's done?"

He smirked, shaking his head. "Hardly. Training never ends. What's done is only the beginning."

Her brow furrowed. "Beginning?"

"Haki grows with struggle, with the fire of your will. From now on, it's your body and spirit that must carry it forward." His eyes gleamed, lips quirking into a predator's grin. "Occasionally, I'll fight you at my full power—no holding back. Remember, Haki blooms fastest in the pressure of battle, especially life and death."

A chill ran down her spine, but instead of fear, her fists clenched with anticipation.

"Your task," he continued, stepping closer, "is simple. In every fight, every challenge, use your Haki first. Make it your sword and shield. Your magic—" he flicked his fingers, making her pearl glow faintly at her side, "—is your support, your flow, your domain. The balance between them will be yours to master."

Sona's eyes flickered with thought, then determination. "…So you want me to invert my instincts. To put myself in danger so I have to grow."

"Exactly." His grin widened. "Only then will you stop being just a strategist behind her peerage, and start becoming the kind of king people fear and respect."

Her lips twitched, caught between irritation and admiration. "…You make it sound so easy."

"It's not." His tone dropped, deep and solemn. "But I'll be here to make sure you don't fall. That's my promise, Sona."

The heat that rose to her cheeks was undeniable now. She looked away, trying to hide it behind her usual composure. "…Idiot…"

But Riser wasn't done. His gaze lingered on the way her pearl pulsed with latent power. "Still… your Haki isn't just yours. It's a weapon I can sharpen. Maybe I should craft a technique—something unique to you. A style where Haki and water become one, flowing and striking as a single force."

Sona blinked, caught off guard. "…A…technique? For me?"

"Yes." He tilted his head, watching her reaction with a sly smile. "A fighting art no one else could use. Something that matches your nature, your magic, and your will. A crown forged from water and steel."

Her heart skipped. For the first time, she wasn't just his student or fiancée—he was treating her like a partner in creation, someone who would stand at his side as an equal force.

"…Then I'll master it," she whispered, eyes glimmering. "Not just for me. For us."

Riser's smirk softened into something warmer, almost proud. "…That's my Sona."

From the shadows, Serafall had to cover her mouth to keep from squealing. "Aaaaaaah! Sona-tan's gonna have her own couple-style technique! It's like watching a shounen romance power-up arc—so cute~!"

But deep down, even she knew—it wasn't just cute anymore. It was real.
