AT THE SAME TIME

The moment we walked back into the palace, I should have known peace was illegal here. It was too quiet, too organized. Which meant disaster was waiting politely. Queen Rosana was standing at the top of the grand staircase like she had personally scheduled the evening. Elegant, perfect posture, dangerous smile.
"Oh good." Ben muttered. "The queen is plotting."
"She is always plotting." Leo replied.
"I SUPPORT PLOTTING." Riko nodded.
"You support everything." Ben sighed.
"I AM OPEN MINDED."Riko said.
"You are emotionally reckless."Leo said.
"I ACCEPT."Riko said.
Rosana's gaze immediately landed on me and her expression softened.
"My son." She smiled.
That was normal ,then her eyes shifted. Past me, to Michael. Then she made a very long pause. The kind that made everyone uncomfortable.
"Oh." She said.
Michael awkwardly straightened which somehow made this worse. Adam shifted slightly closer to me.
"I don't like her tone." He muttered.
