Chapter 42 - Misconception

Angel of Salvation? Is the reason she can't interfere because she is the subordinate of the Creator?

The two of them went out of the carriage and walked towards the mansion's entryway, during which Jack asked Victor, "You said the Creator is still worshiped?"

Now the two of them were at the front door, a tall two-door entry that was blue. Victor responded, "In the human nations it's a dead religion, only the elves and dragons worship it."

They stood talking and not entering. Jack asked another question. "You said dragons worship 'It'?" Victor responded, "Especially the dragons, Mardrago has a depiction of the Creator in any church at the inside of each church."

Jack was surprised by this. "Where?" Victor snapped his fingers, leaving his finger pointed up. "On the ceiling, Mardrago circles around it."

On the ceiling? You mean to say that my old universe centered on my Solar System is the depiction of the Creator?

Victor opened the door to the mansion, revealing the entryway that had stairs made of marble towards the second floor at the center with a blue exquisite carpet; the floor was white and black.

The top floor had handrails made of stone that were in a French style.

It was chilly.

It was dark blue inside due to the curtains being drawn, and desolate without any people inside.

Usually places like this have servants maintaining it. Where are they?

He looked around to see the place was perfectly clean, without a speck of dust.

"It's dark," Jack said bluntly. Victor chuckled at the response. "I like places dark, it calms me."

What are you, a vampire? Victor continued, "Let's talk in my office about your matter; you can sit down and relax."

On their way in the hallways of the second floor, which had doors to the rooms on both the left and the right, some were open, revealing living rooms with blue bourgeois cushioned furniture and libraries.

Jack looked around and asked, "Are there no people here?" Victor was not surprised; he expected such a response. "I have a tendency to move around alone, sometimes living in inns, sometimes at rented houses."

Victor breathed in deeply before exhaling a response. "With such a lifestyle, maintaining a servant force is just counterproductive." He tapped his cane on the floor; somehow, Jack didn't know of the cane up until this point for some strange reason. "And more than that, while I can ignore them and live like they don't exist, I feel better when I am truly alone."

Then what about the two girls... I think they were twins...

The two of them stopped in front of the two-door entry of the office. Jack didn't stop his questions. "What about the two girls that were watching us?"

Victor chuckled while opening the door for Jack. "Hehe... While it's true that I move alone, there are people out there that don't want to leave me to my own devices."

"They have a tendency to take turns to watch over me to make sure I don't do something we'd all regret, like a counterbalance."

They looked like they could be your grandchildren.

Now the two of them sat down at the couches in front of the desk that were separated by a coffee table. "Those two specifically don't like me much."

Jack asked Victor, "Why is that?" Victor scratched his white beard while smiling. "I beat the shit out of their father."

WHY ARE YOU MAKING IT SOUND LIKE HE WAS THE PROBLEM?

Victor seemed to sense Jack's thought from his face. "Now, now... For explanations, he was the man that cheated on his wife by taking a second one."

"Of course, if this was a separate matter, I would have just cut ties with his family."

"The problem was that he married a Lehatot, and in the noble circles, from what I know from one of the girls you just saw, they actively saw the second wife as his true wife."

Victor cleared his throat. "Eventually the one you saw wearing the black suit fixed the matter, but this caused both the second wife and the girl herself to be removed from the household."

"It was a mess in the inheritance even before that as well."

He made a clearly angry face and even had teary eyes. "I couldn't stand that. A few months after that, when all of us met, I broke his legs and kept beating him. The two of them stopped me after I told him that I wanted the children born from that second wife dead."

Victor was now calm. "In hindsight, they did good. This is one of the reasons I allow this observation."

Jack finally spoke. "So how was this whole matter solved?"

Victor responded, "I took the children and the second wife and sent them off far away. They live well, I can assure that; they can live their lives without working."

"As for their mother, I took her away from him. The problem was that she was pregnant. I didn't like that, but she decided to have the baby."

"As for their father, I couldn't care less about him. The only reason I didn't erase his entire household from the kingdom was because the firstborn still saw him as her father."

Firstborn? Aren't they twins? "Aren't they twins?" Jack asked, but Victor instantly responded, "Well, don't they look the same?"

"Anyway, I kept you chatting with this gossip and forgot about the real reason we are here..."
