Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The First Pawn

Recovery didn't mean recklessness.

Not this time.

I sat in silence within the cave, breathing slow, steady, controlled.

Every movement of chakra inside me was deliberate now.

Measured.

Disciplined.

The memory of that pain—

That near-death—

Still lingered.

A warning I had no intention of ignoring.

"…Alright."

I exhaled quietly.

"It's time."

A faint ripple spread through the cave.

From the shadows—

Something emerged.

Black.

Shifting.

Alive.

Black Zetsu.

It rose from the ground like liquid darkness, forming into that familiar humanoid shape. Featureless, yet unmistakably aware.

Its presence was subtle.

Hidden.

But I could feel the connection between us clearly.

Absolute.

Unbreakable.

"My creator."

Its voice was smoother now.

More stable than before.

It had adapted quickly.

As expected.

I studied it carefully.

"…You've stabilized."

A simple observation.

But important.

"Yes," it replied.

"There are no flaws in my form."

"Not yet," I corrected calmly.

"Which is why we're fixing that now."

I raised my hand slowly.

Carefully.

No rushing.

No overextension.

"Yang Release…"

Warm chakra gathered in my palm.

Different from before.

Not destructive.

Not overwhelming.

Creative.

Nurturing.

This time—

I controlled it.

Perfectly.

The energy flowed forward, wrapping around Black Zetsu's body.

For a moment, its form flickered.

Distorted.

Then—

It began to change.

Its presence grew.

Slightly.

Subtly.

But noticeably.

A physical enhancement.

A foundation.

"…Ōtsutsuki-grade vitality," I murmured.

"Low level."

"Just enough."

Black Zetsu's body solidified further.

Its movements became sharper.

More defined.

More real.

"I see…"

It flexed its hand slowly.

"…My existence has been reinforced."

"Correct."

I lowered my hand.

No strain.

No backlash.

Controlled.

Efficient.

That alone proved something important.

I was learning.

"Next step."

My eyes shifted.

The Rinnegan flickered faintly.

Not fully active.

But enough.

And beneath that—

Genjutsu.

Not the crude illusions of lesser shinobi.

Not simple deception.

This was something deeper.

Direct.

Precise.

I stepped forward slightly.

"Don't resist."

"I will not."

Instantly—

I activated it.

Knowledge surged.

Not mine—

But shared.

Memories.

Techniques.

Combat principles.

Ninjutsu.

Taijutsu.

Tactics.

Strategy.

Dozens of lifetimes condensed.

Filtered.

Refined.

Then transferred.

Black Zetsu's body froze.

Its form flickered again—

But held.

Seconds passed.

Then—

It exhaled slowly.

"…Incredible."

Its voice carried something new.

Understanding.

Depth.

"I possess combat capability."

It raised its hand slightly.

Chakra flickered around it.

Controlled.

Efficient.

"…Good."

I nodded once.

Satisfied.

It wasn't on my level.

Not even close.

But it didn't need to be.

It only needed to be useful.

And now—

It was.

Silence settled between us.

Brief.

Intentional.

Then I spoke.

"We need to talk about the future."

Black Zetsu turned fully toward me.

Attentive.

Focused.

"I exist for your will."

"…Exactly."

I leaned back slightly against the cave wall.

Mind already moving ahead.

"This world isn't like the one I came from."

"Different power systems."

"Different rules."

"Different threats."

Gods.

Demigods.

Monsters.

Beings that didn't rely on chakra.

"I need information."

That was the core of it.

Always had been.

"Everything."

I met its gaze.

"Locations."

"Power structures."

"Important figures."

"Resources."

Black Zetsu nodded slowly.

"I understand."

"But information alone isn't enough."

A faint smile formed on my face.

"We need influence."

A pause.

Then—

"Money."

Even in a world of gods—

Resources mattered.

Control mattered.

Presence mattered.

"We're going to build something."

Black Zetsu tilted its head slightly.

"Define."

"A network."

My voice remained calm.

But the intent behind it—

Sharp.

Precise.

"Spies."

"Contacts."

"Information brokers."

I tapped my finger lightly against the stone.

Thinking.

Calculating.

"And front businesses."

Another pause.

Then—

"A bounty hunting operation."

Black Zetsu's eyes flickered faintly.

Processing.

"Efficient."

"Exactly."

"In this world, monsters exist."

"Danger exists."

"Conflict exists."

"And where there's danger—

There's always someone willing to pay to remove it.

"We'll take advantage of that."

Black Zetsu nodded again.

Understanding deepening.

"Additionally," I continued,

"Legitimate fronts."

"Trade."

"Resources."

"Connections."

Everything tied together.

Everything feeding into the same system.

A foundation.

"For now," I said finally,

"You'll handle it."

A simple statement.

Absolute.

"I will."

No hesitation.

No doubt.

Perfect.

I closed my eyes briefly.

Thinking ahead.

Planning further.

This was just the beginning.

A single piece on the board.

But even a single piece—

Placed correctly—

Could change everything.

When I opened my eyes again—

They were calm.

Focused.

Unshaken.

"Move quietly."

Black Zetsu began to sink into the ground.

Its form dissolving into shadow.

"Observe everything."

Only its head remained visible.

"And report back to me."

"Yes… creator."

And then—

It was gone.

Silence returned to the cave.

But something had changed.

The first move had been made.

And the game—

Had finally begun.
