"He took the bait." Velryn moved to stand beside him, unable to keep the satisfaction from his voice. "Easier than expected, honestly. His ego and rage made him stupid. And his desire for revenge made him willing to agree to ANYTHING."
Now Karvesh looked up, amber and ice-blue eyes sharp and calculating.
"Is he committed or just testing us?"
"Committed. Completely. He gave us actual intelligence." Velryn pulled the rough map Darius had drawn from his belt pouch, spreading it on the table with a flourish. "Patrol routes. Guard schedules. Perimeter weaknesses. Everything."
He couldn't help the slight laugh.
"He even told me exactly what he wants to do to her. Very detailed. Very specific. Very BRUTAL." Velryn's purple eyes gleamed with dark amusement. "The male has been fantasizing about rape and torture for three days straight. Made my job almost too easy."
Karvesh studied the map carefully, one finger tracing the marked routes.
