"Look at him." Nyx's red eyes never left the rogue. "LOOK. He's enjoying this. He wants you to chase."
The rogue gasped dramatically, pressing a hand to his chest.
"Oh WOW! The Panther Chief is SMART! I LIKE him!"
He addressed Nyx directly, grin never faltering.
"You're absolutely right, Panther Chief! I DO want him to chase! It would be SOOOOO much FUN! Just imagine—me, fleeing through the trees, him RIGHT behind me with those MAGNIFICENT claws out, both of us moving at speeds that would make normal weak beast folk WEEP with envy—"
Another delighted laugh bubbled out.
"It would be GLORIOUS! A chase for the AGES! Stories would be told! Ballads would be sung!"
He leaned forward conspiratorially, voice dropping to a stage whisper that still carried clearly across the clearing below.
"But you're right to stop him. Because he'd be leaving all these lovely people VULNERABLE while chasing me into the forest. And we can't have THAT, can we?"
